my sister's keeper

Oh my goodness. I just finished reading the book. It was so engrossing and poignant. I believe that this is one book that high schoolers should be required to read.

I can't wait for the movie. I cried and laughed and got mad and took sides and changed my mind and cried again and again.

What is it about? Perhaps some parents or teachers may jump on your idea.

Mother, Father, son and daughter, daughter develops leukemia and mother and father genetically conceive a match for dying daughter for the cord blood. then as daughter slips out of remission several times, younger child is required to donate more and more until she is expected to give up a kidney. this is when she sues for medical emancipation.

family dynamics of fighting to save the sick one while the well one falls through the cracks, and over-protecting the "match" so that she can continuously provide life for the dying one. And the feelings and emotions that each one has, hating themselves, loving each other, and although lifes not always fair, its still worth living.

I heard that the movie will have an alternate ending. Don't know if I like that. but i definitely want to see the movie.

The book gives you the viewpoint of every character and what the family means to them.

The Mother, I didn't care for, but I don't know if I would be different if I were in her place.

Its a real tear jerker ending. But I won't ruin it for anyone.

I was just overcome by the book that I want to share and discuss it.
