Is America a "blessed nation?"
www.lvrj.com/opinion/48018737.html
"The notion that we are just one of many among equals is nonsense," Huckabee said. The United States is a "blessed" nation, he said, calling American revolutionaries' defeat of the British empire "a miracle from God's hand."

I beleive that God did bless us when our endaeavors were noble. Many English came over to forge a new country and be free to pray as they wish. He helped in that Revolutionary war by Blessing us just as He blessed us in ridding the Dictator of Evil, Hitler.
As our foreign policy changed, God's blessings on us may have as well. Look at us now. Look at the globe. God loves everyone on this Earth. Do you think he's passing out many blessings now? The world's leaders should reflect on their efforts of peace, not tyranny.

It took a lot of hard work, a lot of right decisions, a lot of slow building, generation after generation, slow improvements, from a start with workhouses, indentured servitude that amounted to slavery, outright slavery, child labor, starvation, discrimination on every basis (religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) imaginable - to where we are today.
We had some luck - America is on land that is quite fertile, many resources - it's not some desert, not pure jungle - and we were far enough from other countries to have some time to develop without too much competition - but we're not all that unique.
If we compare ourselves with other nations - particularly first world ones - we do stand out for many good things - and many bad ones. We have far worse health care. We were one of the later nations to support women's rights to vote, many other civil rights causes. We've got a populace that works hard, strives to make something bigger and better, and has for generations. We believe ourselves moral and a supporter of the underdog - and that has lead us to do many great things - and some evil ones.

we fought for our religious freedom, to believe as we wanted to believe, to seperate church and state, sad some want to bring all that pain back, guess they forgot the past and feel we must relive it

We are all of G-d's children.
I feel blessed to be here because of all of our freedoms which were bought by blood.
Yes, Lisa, he sounds scary.

By that reasoning, couldn't some malefic leaders claim they were "blessed" because they were brought to reign through the blood of others?

Perhaps they bought oppression with the blood of others.
We bought freedom. There is a difference.
I did not say anyone bought "blessings."
