Elaborate Tunnel Found On US Border

I remember when one was discovered last fall - I had no idea they have found 16 since then. This one sounds pretty fancy, eh? The drug dealers or whoever is using it will miss it. I wonder how many tunnels there are still to be found. People want to build a wall all across the border - sounds like the wall better 12' up and 12' down, lol.

Good one, Penguin! Maybe the drug dealers can earn an honest wage and build that 24' wall. They seem to be very productive. Now THAT could have been in the stimulus bill!

US and Mexico could have a cooperative agreement: any drug dealers caught on or near the border get put to work doing hard labor building the wall. They should be responsible for the underground part 'cause they have the experience.

I think that the point is that prohibition did not change anything. People could still get alcohol and the law simply made criminals out of them. The people who wanted to drink did so. Same with drugs. Our jails and prisons are full. We need a different plan. The laws aren't stopping anyone who really wants it. I wish that the laws were more consistant and stronger for DUI. Its just amazing that people can have more than 1 (2,3,4,5 etc) DUIs and still have a license. Being under the influence is personal - the laws need to be about what you do when under the influence.
THe drug laws probably only stop people like me. Nice little old lady who used to smoke a little weed when I grew it in my yard many years ago in Vt. It would be nice to have a plant or to in my yard for use when my bones ache. Oh well.

I think what's so noteworthy about this tunnel is how elaborate it is.

It's the federal government's job to protect the borders and they haven't done a very good job of it for a long time. They don't even act very interested (for decades). my opinion

Prisons are full of illegals. Why doesn't our govt deport them? Good Question!

U.S. Justice dept estimates 1/2 the CA prison population is illegals. Interesting read for anyone who believes the skewed stats the govt protrays - that it's US citizens committing crime (or anyone, for that matter). Just illegals here illegally.

I agree. Apparently they haven't looked very hard for these tunnels. And I've always wondered why the INS isn't the next stop for illegals when they finish their sentence. Deportation orders should be all prepared and at the prison when their release day comes. The INS could pick them up and put them on a plane. A law could be passed that would make the release dates for illegals coordinate so the INS could scoop them up as a group once month in each state - or at each prison, whatever. Surely the States and the Feds could get together on this somehow. Make it work, people!

And when they take them back to their home country, say, Mexico, take them to the furthest point away from the US borders! (WITH their families)

LOL This is their HOME country. It was stolen from them, why do you think their is such a controversy?
If anyone needs to be deported it is the immigrants who came here uninvited. Stilll LOL
