Religious Right rebrands itself

seems to me the religious right would want to push these message from the bible - tax cuts for the least among us rather then the rich

a name change alone will not change what they are, they need to change the message

I think both of these of these are messages the religious right should be looking at more closely

A rose certainly does not describe the bitterness of the Religious Right, but a quote about roses describes what these people are doing to defraud and swindle The American People.

as well I, they want to improve the name, they need to change their ways, not change the name because their ways dirtied the old one

I don't see the advantage of the new name. Is Religious a bad word now? I don't think so, even though the Religious Right have certainly do their best to besmirch the word.
Do they think they'll be more palatable to moderates by getting rid of Right? I don't think that's the problem in their currently dwindling pull at the voting booths and in government.
"Evangelical" is more offputting to me than "Religious" because Evangelical means they want everyone else to be like them, and that they consider it their duty to try to make it so. I've come to associate Evangelical with a lot of things I don't like, because of their persistent forays into issues I consider to be political issues, not religious issues.
"Socially conservative" is also a turn off because it's more blatantly political and immediately makes me think of NeoConservatives. Is there also a plan to get rid of "NeoConservative"?
The "new conservatives" are actually pretty radical, IMO. My conservative GOP grandparents are certainly spinning in their graves at the current crop of GOPers.

yep, they have much bigger problems then their name, their problems are what give their name such a bad taste in peoples mouths - they need to address the log in their own eye before looking to address the speck in the eye of others

even most Christians don't approve of the religious right anymore, they have tried so hard to push a theocracy into our government - sadly many were afraid to speak up because they thought speaking up meant they were speaking out again their god, but I think we are finally at the point were even Christians understand that the message the religious right is sending does nothing to promote their religious beliefs, just the opposite in fact - , heck, as were seeing now, even the religious right doesn't want to be called the religious right, you know things are backfiring on them when even they don't want to be associated with themselves

Well said. I just hope that they truly understand why reasonable people differ with them rather than just believing that they are still "correct," it's just those liberals who have given them a bad name and caused their political power to collapse.

LOL - that's the bottom line, isn't it? Its just so odd that many posters here - obviously sharing the reigious right views - have not jumped in here to make any statements at all.
