I know. I was a Dale Sr. fan forever. I was watching the race when he wrecked and died. That day...we lost a champion.
It is time for Dale Jr. This will be his year.

We'll look forward to details of your experience - including the interesting sights and sounds besides the race. I went to Talladega once - the race was great - but what a drunken zoo outside of that.
We rode around a bit to see the sights on Sat. night - had to put my 12 yr old grandaughter inside the cab of the truck to keep her safe from drunk guys trying to dive into the truck to get at her. yuck

I agree...going to the races is an adventure. My husband and I went to a race at Talladega, this woman(who shouldn't have been...if you know??) was showing her "girls" for $5.00 a pop.Men were telling her they would give her $5.00 to keep her top on!!
You do see ALOT of interesting people.

He may no longer be driving the orange #20 Home Depot car but Smoke, who autographed both my hat and my sweatshirt, will always be my hero.

I like Martin Truex, wish Jeff Gordon will wreck, and hope that Junior takes the win.

Watching the Nationwide now. they're hanging my man out to dry. Oh, this just bites.

Don't count Tony out even with a back-up car. Smoke is heck on wheels when he's angry - and he's angry (again) at Goodyear! What's up with Goodyear? That "it was a bad batch" comment about an earlier bunch of tires they sent is just amazing to me. NASCAR needs to deal with them.
I like Tony - he does alot for the sport - supports the up and coming youngsters and kids just getting started; works like a bear on his own dirt track. I know he's a "guys' guy" and a little rough around the edges, but he has grown up alot after being set straight by his crew a couple of years ago. He could even set an example for young Kyle Bush at this point.

I know - really drunk guys just thinking gotta get the pretty girl! I doubt they were picking up on the details - like that she didn't even quite have a figure yet - just a pretty face. Now that she has a figure to go with the face we wouldn't let her anywhere near that track in or out of the truck!

I know. I realize the feeling of needing to be quite during this race, I feel that way too.
Although, after seeing what Vickers did to Junior, I have to yell at the television. I hate Darryl Waltrip, he is such a whiny man. Going right out and blaming Junior. He makes me sick and so does his brother Michael.
Oh, right now they are blaming Junior.

Some way to win a race. Sitting in the pits waiting for the rain to stop. Yeah, that is a big win.....not!!

I wish that you could call in with questions for DW and the gang like you used to be able to. I would ask,"WHY in the crap is DW still around?"

Junior was "just racing!!"

I know what a sucky way for the race to end.. I hate it when it ends like this.. it's not a victory.. it's a gimmee..

On to next week... but what a bummer ending...

I know. If it were me, I wouldn't feel as though I had won by sitting on pit road waiting for the rain to stop.

Matt probably feels somewhat the same way - but he'll take the win. He's a nice guy - well liked by the other drivers. I'm glad it wasn't any of the drivers fans enjoy booing. Oh well - on to next week.

The kind with the radio in them? I think that would be great - to hear the race commentary while watching right there. Sometimes it hard to see everything that is going on. You can't quite see who hit who and who got caught up in it.
I just have noise reducing ear phones I bought at Walmart (under $10) and I bought two boxes of earplugs also ($1.99 ea) - which I have used to line inside the ear phones to further reduce the decible level. (Trick I was told about at our local gun range). Very comfy and works well.

RIP Dale

PS I never knew that Dale's bestfriend was also killed at Daytona entering turn 4 how crazy is that!
You're right, it has been eight years. It is hard to believe it has been that long. I'll never forget watching that happen.
Dale RIP. You are truly missed.
