I hope this is what I'm supposed to do - start a new thread for today? Sorry if not.
Anyway - anyone see this?
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/01/13/mis...lot/index.html
It's about a Financial Manager who apparently faked his death or some such thing.
Of course it made me think of the RG case. Interesting this fellow is being followed by half of the country, it seems.

It's not unknown, though in Schrenker's case, there seems to be an obvious motive or motives. The motives in the Gricar case are more speculative.

For sure. I just find the rash of media coverage interesting.

If there would a development in that area, something solid, we could see the name "Gricar" on front pages across the US. Same with murder.
I'm not looking forward to seeing me listed as "J. J. in Phila - a blogger" in the book's cast of characters or film credits.

I hope someday we DO see that. One way or the other. Doubtful though.

Re the media coverage: this story is practically a movie script. Minus the cash, it's got shades of D.B. Cooper written all over it.
In terms of parallels to the RG case, not so much, IMHO. We're hardly into this new story, and already we know of umpteen reasons the guy would want to go on the run. Half a million in fraud charges against him, messy divorce, death of his step-father, suicide threats--all good reasons for someone to disappear himself.
Nearly four years into the RG case, where's the beef?

Didn't mean to imply a parallel, because there aren't any.
Just made me think of RG when I saw it because just a few hours in and every detail about the guy is plastered all over a bunch of national news venues.
I have always felt that the LACK of "dirt" (for lack of a better term) on RG was in and of itself odd.
