Reno police arrest suspect in Denison killing

KOLO 8 News reported a man named James Biela was booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of murder, kidnapping in the first degree and sexual assault but could not confirm he is the suspect in the Denison case.

Reno police took a DNA sample from the suspect and said it would take 12 hours to process, according to KTNV channel 2 news

I followed this case from the get-go and was so pleased when I received an email stating an arrest had been made. Thank God for not only her family's sake but also for every other young woman in Reno. It's been a long time coming.

James Michael Biela, 27, is accused of killing 19-year-old Brianna Denison.

1 of 3 A secret witness tip and DNA samples taken first from the suspect's son and finally from the man himself cracked the case, authorities said Wednesday.

James Michael Biela, 27, was arrested Tuesday night and booked on suspicion of kidnapping, murder and sexual assault in connection with Denison's slaying and an attack of another woman the previous month.

The arrest marked a major milestone in a 10-month-long manhunt for Denison's killer. Police said they received 2,278 tips.

Thank God they caught the monster. Thankfully his girlfriend voiced her suspicions to a friend which started the ball rolling. He is a perfect candidate for a public hanging.

I really feel sorry for the young woman who had his child & lived with him....but I question why *she* never went to police....She had to have known about his vehicle & the similiarity to the vehicle description put out by police. Also, it was said that she since told police that she couldn't account for his whereabouts the night of the December rape nor the day of Brianna's abduction. I can't help but wonder - *if* - she had gone to police when he wasn't home in December 2007, that Brianna might still be alive.

If only she had suspicions before he had a chance to murder Brianna ~ but I'm still thankful he's finally been arrested.
