Friday, 10/3/08 - Day 109
Morning all
Thursday, Casey's attorney said it's not in her best interest to tell what she knows about where Caylee is.
"It does her no good to show her cards to give the prosecution any advantage they have to put her away for life," Jose Baez said.
http://www.wftv.com/news/17610344/detail.html
This sounds like he's admitting her guilt. Any thoughts?

Good Morning and thanks for the Friday thread. I can't believe I'm first, that's a first. (That's me to me) :-)
Per your post... I still can't believe he said that. Unless I am missing it entirely, to me that means that she has much to hide and he just admitted it. I feel an arrest is coming soon, everyone seems to be moving toward that in my mind. And it can't come soon enough for me. MOO
Caylee, we love you.

I completely agree Kath. Sounds to me like he is saying that she has something to hide that the prosecution could use against her. If she is not guilty or at least INVOLVED in some way... why can't she talk?

Nah, I don't think that princesspantsonfire will be the new joran. LE in florida are a LOT sharper than LE in aruba, IMO.
I believe princess will be the new scott! as in petersonwest.

IMO It'll never happen in this case. Too many including LE are mortified at what she did to that innocent baby. jmho

Well goodie for you Grandma. I have respect for certain posters and found it interesting to hear WHEN and why they thought Casey would be arrested for the murder.
We certainly know you have no problem stating your opinion but seem to resent anyone else who is free to do the same.

Good morning to all
I have debated with myself about sharing some experience I have had here, and I finally decided to do so....it is personal experience and not 'text book'.
For anyone considering the theory that Caylee drowned?
My experience was with a 2 year old female...twenty years ago this month. When a person is drowning their body takes in less and less water as oxygen deprivation sets it, at that point the lungs begin to break down into dead cells and are 'washed out' of the body. As the body starts rejecting further fluid it expells the cells that have 'died' as the organs start shutting down, be they kidneys, lungs etc.
My reason for 'sharing' this?
If indeed Caylee did drown there is a very good chance that the dead cells from her body shutting down would create not only a smell (eventually), but her body itself would begin to break down very quickly.
I am not saying that this is indeed what happened to this little girl, I am explaining the process that could have/most likely did happen if this scenerio is fact.
Just my opinion of course...

Is a really odd thing for an attorney to say especially before there are any charges that that can "put her away for life" IMO

Maybe he wants off the case. If he's court appointed that statement ought to do it for him. Or if someone is paying him and he wants off same thing. That statement should do it for him.,

if casey has told him the truth, it's my belief that he's bound to ask for a dismissal...
because he's stuck between the legal aspect of staying quiet for client confidentiality...
and the legal aspect of withholding information on an ongoing case.
don't quote me, b/c i'm not 100 percent sure...
but i think at that point, he has to ask for a dismissal and let another attorney take over
can anyone clarify that

Am I correct in saying that there have been no more protesters at the Anthony house? If so, I wonder if that last altercation with Cindy scared them all away?

Which one? The baseball bat? lol
I think people are still so disgusted with all of them but frankly, I don't know what any protesting would do except innocent people perhaps getting hurt and/or protestors getting arrested.
We just have to continue to hope that justice will be done and she will be put away for life and/or face the death penalty.

I don't know about the protesters, but locally the interest in this case has started to wane. It no longer occupies the front page of every newspaper and it's not the top story every night on the news. Some nights there is no mention of it at all. Overall, the community has just grown weary and, I hate to say it, bored.
Maybe that's a good thing. The absence of public spectacle might allow LE to do their jobs without cameras and constant distractions.

that's what i don't understand, i've never understood.
sure he knows, he has to know
this guy obviously isn't a father.
i work for an attorney, and thank goodness he has morals...
casey would have been dismissed at first glance as a client.
believe me, i understand doing your 'job' and i understand the 'legals' of confidentiality, and the legal ethics---i get that.
but no job would have me sacrificing my personal ethics, morals, values...to save a low life mother who killed her precious child.
i couldn't sleep at night, i couldn't live with myself.
i'd turn over my law license, sign up on the prosecution side and at least know i lost my career for doing what was right...
and that my justice was truly served as the voice for the REAL innocent

At the outset let me say that I also believe Casey killed Caylee. But I'm curious if you mean that you believe she (or others who have killed children) should not have attorneys at all?

---fingers in ears, singing lalalala---
just like the conclusion you jumped to in misreading what i said before asking for clarafication or reading further to actually see it.
i was speaking on a personal....what's in me....level.
that i couldn't choose my job over my 'real life' values in this type situation.
i know very well what he's doing is his job and i ''get that''
but again, i personally couldn't do it. but then that's why i'm not a defense attorney.
he is, there are many out there that are...good for them, it's a needed field to complete our justice system.
as for his statement, it did in fact, at least state that his client has that knowledge...therefore following the chain, he represents casey, who has that knowledge...
as he stated in the link provided.
i'm not going to argue with you, i don't come here to argue...as i find that completely ''ridiculous''.
i understand from your post-s- that you have different views from others here...i see that you like to play devil's advocate
i can actually respect that.
but please, don't come on here being disrespectful to me, or others because they don't see it ''your way'', offering nothing but negative and insulting statements.
i apologize in advance for the 'bluntness', but i've bitten my tongue so much that dang it, i'm nearly tongueless now...
NOW with that said....i'm off to ''my job''
 see ya

IIRC, he was court appointed. They don't get the choice of dismissing their client. They have to come up with things like conflict of interest and that doesn't include conflict of morals. After all, they are DEFENSE attorneys. They defend whether the person is actually innocent or guilty. All of their clients--@ least the guilty ones--are a little low on morals, ethics and values, else they wouldn't be committing crimes.
Sometimes the defense attorney's job really is just to get the lightest sentence possible, as some clients are obviously guilty from the get-go.

MAYbeee, she has rejected every consideration he has presented to her as to how to get a lighter sentence and he is SICK of her sitting around the office all the time. MAYbe, being bound by atty/client priveledge, this is a "backdoor" way of getting this thing going.
but then again
MAYbe, he's "backdooring" prosecution by having them to rush right on in with that statement, arrest her, he THINKS he can get her off on "not enough circumstantial evidence" and case closed?

yep,
weird

I just can't wrap my mind around how they can be in the same house with her. I mean, if they know Caylee is gone and they're protecting Casey...which is appears that's what is going on. HOW? HOW? HOW? All I'd be doing is imagining what poor little Caylee may have went thru and how I'd never see her again. I think I'd break and just say "Take Her To JAIL!!!!" I don't think I'd be able to look at her each day. Watch her go on as if everything's fine. Knowing she was able to live her life as if she never had a daughter for an entire month. How does one do that?

Perry Mason he's not. ROFL I am shocked and I really can't believe he is dumb enough to say that, so he must have ulterior motives such as wanting an offer from the LE again or wanting off the case as has been mentioned. I'm just soooo glad he's on her side!! jmho

Maybe you and Granny are correct. I hadn't thought about him maybe wanting off the case.....could be. I would imagine that Casey is a pain in the a$$ to work with IMO
