Twilight Saga
Is anyone into reading the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer? They are actually "young adult" books though like Harry Potter have reached cross-over status to a big fan base with adults. The books are about a teen boy and girl who fall in love, the boy is a vampire. I know it sounds kinda weird, but I am totally hooked on the books. I am starting the second one in the series now, "Full Moon."
Anyone else?

I just heard about them this past weekend. My M-I-L and S-I-L read the first book in two days...they said that they couldn't put it down.
I'm stopping at the book store on my way home from work tonight to pick up the first two.

I found the first to be a little too "romantical" for me, but you must read it or you will never understand books 2,3 and 4. And Book 4 - wow - loved it.
The series hasn't surpassed Harry Potter in my heart, but it is a close second.
Have you seen the trailer for the book 1 movie? Looks great, although that isn't how I pictured Edward. Lots of good info here for the movie

Hi! I've only been through the first two books so far. I LOVED the first one; didn't like the second one as much, mostly because of so much about Jacob.....who is one character I wasn't so crazy about. I was hoping Edward would come back.....had to wait a long time for that! I am currently waiting for the third and fourth books. LOVE the series.

DD has read them all...she's not much of a reader, but with every one, she would sit on the sofa all weekend until she finished it.
Just started the first one today, and am a little embarrassed to say I am riveted(I normally read more like Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged" and heavier tomes--nose up in air icon ). Read the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice years ago, and they are darker than what I read so far today. I can tell I will be useless until I finish the series.

I read all four books in less than a week!!
I was mesmerized, could hardly put them down to get anything else done and stayed up late into the night reading because I just couldn't put them down!! WOW I didn't expect to like them so much but I really enjoyed them!!

I haven't read them yet but my daughter has read them all. They have been particularly popular here because we are only a couple hours from Forks and the surrounding areas the books are set in.

How fun.
Port Angeles (one setting in the books) is doing it up big- Red Carpet from the Italian Restaurant to the theater (both in the books) there is going to be look a look alike contest and scavenger hunt plus a "Twilight Central" where different events are planned.
I may take the daughter up there to see it-maybe the midnight showing on Thursday, that will be a special event (closest to a premier as we'll get. lol)
This little Peninsula has been very honored to be home to the series. Forks has had a huge influx of tourists and now do Twilight tours- all the attention has sure helped out the small struggling town..

DD said movie was good, book was better.
She said the film got "stuck" THREE TIMES during the movie causing the film to stop and repairs to be done. Did not get home till 3:30 this am . Then back up at six to get ready for school. Don't think I'll allow this on a school night again.

The theater didn't give refunds? That's happened to me before, and that was the action taken.

Yes, she brought home a voucher for a free movie. We (I) was just unhappy with a midnight movie running so late...I set my alarm for 2:15, then got a text at 2:30 that the movie had been messing up, then set my alarm for 3:00, then 3:30 (she came in just before that). She was with friends and had them follow her home, but it still made my night awful long, what with us having to get up at 6:00.
No, she actually was where she said she was...

Im not a reader myself and my 13 yr old is dyslexic but man oh man....when he caught wind of this series, he was ona mission to get the 1rst book. Nowhere to be had...he was bummed. Then, the other I was looking at the Walgreens for something a nuther and there was one laying in the candy section !!! I grabbed it up and suprised him with it. He is in love with this book...which is HUGE for a 13 yr old dyslexic boy. His school approved it but since they get it, they did caution us on him bringing it to school. Seems theres already a before-school Twilight Clique forming....
He described it as a Si-fi Romeo & Juliet (Ha)...ok, thats cool ! Im just glad he is READING and enjoying it !

That's wonderful! My 13 yo old neighbor across the street (not a big reader) borrowed Twilight from me last night, and just now returned it! She said that's all she's done since she got it. I remember my son becoming a big reader when the Harry Potter series started.
