New Charges for Jeffs and FDLS Men

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/polygamis...H8bGa0eoWs0NUE
This is from the front Page of Tonight's Front Page of Yahoo News.

ELDORADO, Texas - A Texas grand jury Tuesday indicted polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs on a charge of felony sexual assault of a child. Five of his followers have been indicted as well.

Attorney General Greg Abbott said four of Jeffs' followers are charged with one count of sexually assaulting girls under the age of 17. One of the four faces an additional charge of bigamy.

Abbott said a fifth follower is charged with three counts of failure to report child abuse.

The charges follow an ill-fated child custody case in which more than 400 children were placed in foster care. The Texas Supreme Court ruled child welfare authorities overstepped in taking all the children from their parents even though many were infants and toddlers.

The criminal charges came during the panel's second meeting on the case and followed the ill-fated child custody case in which more than 400 children were placed in foster care. The Texas Supreme Court ruled child welfare authorities had overstepped in taking all the children for their parents even though many were infants and toddlers.

It's a start, and nice to see some progress. Failure to report child abuse - sounds to me like that is the doctor getting brought up. Maybe something about a bunch of underage pregnancies he failed to report?

Yes ole Warren will get to sing those jailhouse blues in Huntsville, TX, along with the others indicted. They will take that white prison bus ride.

No word from ole Willie boy the thug, could it be he has been detained at the greybar hotel by Sheriff Doran? [/*]
The thought of that makes me smile.

Dean Martin, John Wayne and Ricky Nelson. I love Texas!!

With Willie being so outspoken I wonder if his wife or wives would just let him just sit in the old slammer? lol Willie doesn't have the keys. He never had them, will never have them. jmo

Imperfect I was thinking the same thing about Willie. Since he was at the hearing I also wondered if he was arrested before or after the meeting about the grand jury. It sure makes me wonder because there has been not a word from him and he is the first to shoot off his voice in terms of the flds.
Did I hear right that the flds are no longer represented by the firm with Rod Parker?
It will be interesting to hear that if it is true.

jmoo [/*]
That is what I read awhile back. But good old Rod has come to their defense from get go. OH yeah, he believes in true justice for everyone but women and children. jmo

The little issues that came about around the time that Warren was playing hide and seek from court hearings. Warren didn't want to answer any questions and went into hiding. Wonder if Wendall and the others are hiding in the same spots?

Where the heck are those Allred boys?

I just wonder if these men are so honorable and truly convinced to their faith why arent they turning themselves in to face the charges? If these men truly believe their Religon requires them to web and bed underage girls why are they running?

He wouldn't show up in the TDCJ database until after a conviction & transfer to a state facility (out of a county facility).

But. . . depending on the county, he actually could show up as being 'present & accounted for'. I don't know how many county jails do this, I am thinking not very many at all - but there are at least a couple who literally DO post online the names of people who have recently been arrested & are 'in house', so to speak.

And that WOULD be a hoot, if it applied to any of the FLDS, I agree.

Tom Green county, where San Angelo is located, DOES post jail bookings online. We can only hope some of the FLDS are booked into this facility.

It's in a pdf form, but here's a main link to show what I am referring to.

http://gosanangelo.com/news/2008/jul...-bookings-724/

The Tom Green County jail booked 41 people in the last 24 hours, including the following charges. . .
To see the actual jail log, please click on the left hand box under related links, jail log for July 24.

LLaFren - we can hope, can't we?

Been away for awhile, but I saw this and wandered back:

The fifth man, Dr. Lloyd Hammon Barlow, is charged with failure to report three counts of child abuse. He is a physician, with a Texas medical license in family practice, and a member of the FLDS.
All five have turned themselves in. (I wonder if it was to prevent police from searching other compounds, looking for the, and finding more pregnant teens.)

http://www.statesman.com/news/conte...9/0729flds.html

Excerpt. . .

Five members of a West Texas polygamist sect, indicted last week on charges that included sexually assaulting teenage church members, turned themselves in to Schleicher County authorities Monday.

The arrests, which were negotiated during the past several days with a lawyer representing the sect, included members of the Jessop and Barlow families, who are prominent within the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a Mormon splinter group.

Goes on to say that AG Abbott is concerned (rightly so!) that the victims will not be protected from these men should they post bond, other than that, he isn't saying much of anything about the specific charges.

A phone call to Willie J. by the AAS was not returned. [/*]

Heres the link on CNN/crime Site..explains the various charges and the amt. of bail for each one..

I'm sure it is... The child labor laws are going to catch up to them sooner or later. This is more important, I think.

Sadly, the fact is, many of these people were raised to believe that the way they live is the only true way, and the rest of us are just plain wrong, if not outright evil. Telling these men that it's wrong to have only one wife is like telling ME that I have to share my husband with at least four other women in order for us all to get to heaven. They've been brainwashed.

Mind, this doesn't excuse the fact that they're breaking the law and molesting young women... However, it's the leaders like Warren Jeffs and whoever's acting as his mouthpiece/replacement these days that they really need to work on prosecuting... however that's just creating martyrs for their "cause."

It's a mess, it really is.
