Police keep hope alive in Denison case

Police in Reno, Nevada continue to investigate the rape and murder of Santa Barbara City College student Brianna Denison. Authorities say they're following up on leads, but confirm the amount of tips coming in has dwindled.

I read a post on WS that a rape occurred in a hospital parking lot in Reno around May 20 but could not find any reference to it on google, and it wasn't picked up for discussion on the WS board. Does anybody know anything about this?

I am sooooooooooooo suffering from withdrawal from the long weekend w/o this board.

I couldn't find any report of another assault and it's not on the Reno PD site either...


There was news of assault/murder in *Reno County* ...in Kansas. Maybe that's what the poster was referring to.

Interesting! A little younger than thought, but that may not mean anything. And the part about hoping the police don't think he has a real gun - they always have to assume he has a "real" gun, it would be silly not to.

I am soooo glad they caught this guy....and I note he's charged with sexual assault of a minor.....that makes my blood pressure skyrocket.....I hope he gets the maximum punishment when he's found guilty.

I am very interested in seeing what becomes of this guy. I highlighted his about me section of his myspace so it could be read, and it says he works with horses and spends the winters in LV. Looks as though his last log in was a year ago, but it just makes me wonder. The Briana POS is known to have a "farmer's tan" so to speak as if he works outside. We also know he has a goatee. ALSO...I read one of the above statements that said something about him shooting a porn movie?? I didn't see a link so I didn't quote it, but that could explain the "shaved" parts if it turns out to be legit.....????

Lots of interesting things on his myspace - dark blond/brownish hair, 5'9", 165 lbs..muscular, likes to work out, do a lot of outdoor stuff - hunting, fishing, riding horses, works on a dude ranch and trains horses in the summer, sometimes 16-18 hours a day (yep, farmer's tan fits), vacations in Las Vegas in the winter, though that summer, 2007, said he was in Vegas and was considering making it his permanent home but had decided not to. Interestingly, he says "if you think you can impress me because you have a nice body, big t*ts, or a nice a**, you're wrong by a longshot - I can get laid any time of day by some ditz" - goes on to say he's looking for a lasting, serious relationship and likes older women, then goes on to say he's off the market, he found his true love - a 42 year old woman who left a comment. Still confused though why it says he's 27 and the news stories say he's 19.

It is definitely him - I can tell by the picture he has posted there - it's him, just confused whether he lied on his myspace (because he likes older women) or if LE got his age wrong, which I HIGHLY doubt.

News articles say Trost sexually assaulted a woman & her teenage daughter...that's probably why he went for the older women....to get to their children.

I got the impression from his page that he's divorced or separated, looking for true love and he's a father, or maybe never married the mother of his child but says he's a proud parent- so maybe a baby.......it IS quite odd that he was rooming with this guy - that was quite a page! I did have a myspace, but when I was following the leah hickman case, I clicked on her sister's page from her friends list and within 3 hours, my friends were emailing me saying random porn was being sent out from my myspace name. It does seem to be him - and yep, his myspace said he grew up in Montana - interesting that he stole his grandfather's PICKUP TRUCK. I really do hope, I'm sure they are, comparing DNA, because they may very possibly have Bri's killer in custody - right height and weight, hair color, goatee, farmer's tan and most likely drives a pickup truck,if not always, at least from time to time - and he's a "proud father." The pieces sure fit and it sure would be fantastic to have her killer in custody. :::fingers crossed::: 19 is really younger than the suspect description, but I don't put a lot of stock in the age they gave, since the victim who gave the description didn't even see his face.........and he looks older than 19 also.

Very good point! Odd that on his myspace page, he'd finally found true love with a 42 year old woman - but the article I just posted here said he was caught shoplifting at Best Buy with his 17 year old girlfriend. Hmmmmmmm...strange. of course, that myspace was in 8/07, things could've changed since then. It sounds like this guy's been in trouble all his life. It makes you wonder what other attacks he's committed where he DIDN'T get caught - I highly doubt this is his first rape.

Thanks, Politigal - I really have a thing about people's eyes - the eyes really ARE the windows to the soul - and his eyes creep me out -they're empty.

I also find it interesting that this guy's MO involves parking garages. The Oct. and Nov. Reno attacks were in parking garages and the Dec. victim was abducted from a parking lot IIRC. I believe a lot of assaults happen in parking garages so it may not mean much. However, it certainly seems like an environment this perp is comfortable in.

It sure does! I certainly hope LE will let us know if he was ruled in or out - I noticed that so far they're silent on any relation he may or may not have to Bri's case, and that's actually a good sign.

Yep! It's very frightening if he's not related to Bri's case or the rape a couple weeks ago to think there are/were THREE of these freaks running around that area? I think, though, if not related to Bri's case, they're going to find this attack is just the tip of the iceberg on this guy, IMO.

ITA. I'm not knocking LE at all, but I really DO think they need to update the public. I can't even IMAGINE how scary it must be to live in Reno right now, not knowing how many active rapists/killers are wandering around.

The public deserves to know, especially since it's their lives that are in danger!

Where's butterfly? We need a full report on the mood in Reno. Are people there talking about this? Is there any pressure on the media or LE to provide the public with some information about how many predators they are looking for? IMO this is a matter of public safety and LE needs to educate the public about these crimes/criminals.
