This doesn't sound good. Seems to be a search for her body. Hope they're wrong but with husband being found dead from apparent suicide, he probably killed her prior to taking his life. I especially feel for her 13 yo daughter.

Prayers for her family and friends.

Sorry about the change at such short notice, but they are telling us the lake is pretty high and we dont want to risk searchers getting hurt. The helicopter is still in search on lbl and I think the police are as well so we are going to let them handle the dangerous stuff because they have the equipment to keep them safe.

Tremendous Turnout but No Leads 3/24

http://www.henrycountian.com/2008/ne...r24_search.htm

PARIS, Tenn. — Some 300 people from all over west Tennessee came together Saturday to help in the search for Rachel Conger, combing the fields along Briarpatch Lake Road by foot and on horseback. Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew praised the "tremendous turnout," but said this morning the search turned up no new leads to Rachel Conger's disappearance.

HENRY CO. WOMAN STILL MISSING - Posted 03/26/08

SOME THREE HUNDRED COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS TURNED OUT OVER THE WEEKEND TO HELP SEARCH FOR A MISSING HENRY COUNTY WOMAN.

HENRY COUNTY SHERIFF MONTE BELEW SAYS THE TURNOUT WAS TREMENDOUS BUT RACHEL CONGER REMAINS MISSING AND IS FEARED DEAD.

THE 30-YEAR-OLD CONGER WAS LAST SEEN IN THE COMO AREA MARCH 13th WITH HER HUSBAND, 50-YEAR-OLD PAUL CONGER.

PAUL CONGER WAS DISCOVERED THREE DAYS LATER DEAD FROM A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND NEAR THE COUPLE'S BRIARPATCH LAKE RESIDENCE.

SHERIFF BELEW PUT OUT THE CALL FOR COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE LAST WEEK BRINGING OUT BOTH LAW ENFORCEMENT AND CIVILIAN VOLUNTEERS FROM CARROLL, OBION, BENTON, SHELBY, AND DECATUR COUNTIES.

BELEW SAYS HE'S SPENDING THE WEEK INTERVIEWING WITNESSES AND EXAMINING EVIDENCE AND MAY RESUME THE SEARCH AGAIN THIS WEEKEND.

From Another Board;

Rachel Conger

There are very few people that I have crossed paths with in my life that have made the impression on me that Rachel has. She is the kind of person that I could sit with for hours just talking.

She had told me of the abuse, and I told her many times that no man had a right to put their hands on her in anger. I never dreamed that it might come to this.

I was looking forward to meeting her daughter and am sorry that it didn't happen.

Amber, if you ever read this there is something you should know. I cared for your mother dearly and would have done anything for her. I just wish that I could have done more to prevent this. You see, I am the one that made that phone call to your mother that he answered. I knew the history of abuse and when he answered the phone I hung up. I was afraid he would take it out on her.

So I feel like I should have talked to him more and maybe he might have given me a clue to her whereabouts, or maybe even talked him out of it. This will haunt me for the rest of my life and there will never be a day in my life that I won't think of your mother.

She was so proud of you that she would talk about you for hours. You were the most important person in her life and I could tell just by listening to her, that you two were much more than mother and daughter. You were best friends.

You and your mother will be in my prayers, and I believe that she will be found.

Love always
afriend

Amber Simmons, 13, is asking the public to attend the vigil, set for 7 p.m. April 13, on the front steps of the Henry County Courthouse. Everyone is asked to bring a white taper with them.

Note from Peter; They are asking Texas EquuSearch to come and help.

Rachel's 13 year old daughter, Amber, organized several fund raising events to support a search team over the weekend of Aug. 9. Rachel is still missing.

A couple of blog entries about Rachel and her daughter Amber. Please leave some comments of encouragement for Amber here and at her family blog and Myspace page. After all of the efforts and still no information, I am sure that little girl's heart is breaking.

deep fear,

TES is a volunteer group but they need funds for expenses; gas, food, lodging etc. From the latest report on Rachel's blog post another group; United Response Search and Rescue group from the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area lead a search last weekend, unfortunately they did not recover Rachel.

Thank you for your information. I think a lot of people, myself included, didn't understand the expenses of conducting a search.

Hopefully people will be willing to donate more to the various SAR units out there so that sometime in the future their expenses could all be covered and not be the burden of the family. I know that is the ultimate goal of most that I am aware of.
