No, tx. Nonnie went missing in Jefferson county (a county between Denver and the mountains). Paige's car was found in Grand Junction (a city in western Colorado near Utah border).

Search continues for missing mother
7/3/2007 2:57
The search continued Tuesday for a missing 34-year-old woman after her car was found burned just south of I-70.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation collected clues from her car and the area around it as Mesa County Search and Rescue teams have searched the area for any signs of Paige Birgfeld.
Birgfeld was reported missing by family members last Thursday and her car was found on fire Sunday night south of I-70 on Road 23, about two miles from her home.......
Investigators are now looking into whether Web site postings by Birgfeld may be connected to her disappearance. She reportedly posted messages on ChefSucess.com indicating she was worried about the return of her ex-husband, Rob Dixon.
She wrote in March that her children asked if their dad was going to kill her.
Birgfeld's father, Frank Birgfeld of Denver, says it does not appear Dixon has been in the Grand Junction area recently.
Authorities in Mesa County say they have not ruled out the car fire as a random act of vandalism.....

Paige Birgfeld said in her Web postings at www.chefsucess.com she had several businesses, including one as a consultant with The Pampered Chef, as well as providing dance lessons for children and selling baby gear. Her main source of income was from a modeling agency, she said in a post.

Frank Birgfeld found a business card in her car that suggested she also was working as an escort, according to The Rocky Mountain News.

Court records show that Dixon in October 2005 accused Birgfeld of giving topless massages and slapped her on the shoulder and punched her in the throat as she held their baby.

Dixon pleaded guilty to a charge of harassment after he was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and misdemeanor child abuse. The case was dismissed after he complied with a year-long deferred sentence.

Paige Birgfeld’s background, Robinson said, “should not be an issue. We all hope she is found safe.”

Paige Birgfeld used the Ford Focus that was found burned out only occasionally, her father said. She generally drove her children around in a van.

Hope this mother is found safe.

Does not sound too hopeful with her car being found burned out.
OMG, 3 children that will be left with no mommy. Just breaks your heart!

Hi all! I just caught wind of this story on foxnews.com (something to distract me from Jessie Davis and Chris Benoit). The time line is a bit strange. She was last seen on June 28th, not reported missing until the 30th? Is this because you have to wait 24 hours before a person is technically missing? Then her car is found in flames on July 1st. There's a couple days between the 28th and the 1st where a lot could have happened. Fox eluded that perhaps she staged her disappearance. I'm not sure that I'm on board with that considering her line of work. Any thoughts?

If the husbands and boyfriends were not filled with so much hate they might give some thought to the children left without a mother...

Hi tx! I agree with your statement but I'm not entirely convinced the ex had something to do with her disappearance. Right now I'm leaning more towards her line of work as a model/escort BUT I have to do more reading on the story.

Yes, her background is an issue. She is a glorified hooker, under the guise of "Escort Service". What I mean is that Paige is no doubt in contact with all men from all walks of life, including men with shady pasts. Then maybe one of her ex husbands could be behind her disapparance. Maybe one of them was enraged becaise of her "profession". No caring mom would walk out on her children like that.
I agree Sundown. I think the list of possible suspects could be lenghty on this one. As a parent I cannot think of one good reason to walk out on your own children.

When her father, Frank Birgfeld, was called Saturday about her disappearance, an investigator took him aback when he said Paige’s occupation was in the “adult-entertainment area,” Frank Birgfeld said.
Paige Birgfeld was no stranger to that business, having worked in Denver as an exotic dancer before her second marriage, according to a friend who asked not to be identified.
Frank Birgfeld said he’s learning much about his daughter that he never knew.

Greta just covered this on her show tonight. Doesn't sound like anything new, probably just trying to keep it in the spotlight.

It sounds like the ex-husband has the kids right now. Wonder if her Dad thinks he's behind it? I am not sure what to think until I hear more facts.

Ella's mom -- I saw that and was wondering that too -- she was in Eagle with the first ex-husband shortly before her disappearance..I thought I had read they were about to reconcile?

The thing I can't get over is her dad -- seems like a really nice man, he's of course distraught and is finding out so many things about his daughter that he had no idea about...I'm not a parent like you yet, but I can't imagine what that would feel like to a parent -- not only reconciling that my child is missing, their car is found on fire and they may not be alive -- and the fact that she was living a different part of her life that I knew nothing about. He's handling everything with such grace....

I agree on handling it with such grace.
IMO from listening to the Dad on Greta that he greatly admired his daughter for
keeping her house & caring for her kids...said she had many things going to bring in money so their life style would not change after this second divorce.
No matter what she was doing...no one deserves what (it looks like) happened to her. Hope they find the perp and bring her home. Sounds like LE has the phone records down to the wire...GodBless the cell phone trail as it has helped finger many a perp. My hinky is up on the jealous ex..JMO though...

does not seem to be much interest in this case which is a shame as everyone missing should be equally important but we all know that never seems to be the case.moo

Sheriff Stan Hilkey: items..have been found
July 15, 2007 10:32 PM CDT

Items belonging to Paige Birgfeld were found near Lands End

By KJCT8.COM

Personal items of Paige Birgfeld have been found near Lands End Road on Highway 50. According to the Sheriff's Department, "Items specific to this investigation have been found in the area".

Mesa County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Teams have search the Lands End area for the past two weeks. Several items that appear to belong to Birgfeld have continually been found in the Lands End area as searchers cover and recover the ground.

During a morning briefing Sheriff Stan Hilkey told volunteers, "We need your help to determine if the items we discovered already are limited to this area or if there are more items closer to or farther away from Grand Junction that we haven't been found yet."

Organized by the Abby and Jennifer Recovery Foundation, the group began searching Saturday at about 7am, at the end of day the search teams canvassed 11 of the 55 targeted areas. Volunteers were split into groups, debriefed and sent out to search the five mile radius near Birgfeld's home.

The volunteer search teams cleared 11 target search areas out of a total 55 planned searches on Saturday.

The Abby and Jennifer Recovery Foundation may sound familiar, as they were involved in the search and recovery of John Atchley. However this search will be very different, since foul play is suspected in Paige Birgfeld's disappearance.

The volunteers were briefed in case they find something of interest, not disturbing evidence or a possible crime scene. All volunteers must be documented and whereabouts kept during the search.

The mission of the foundation is to ban together with law enforcement and community members to help in the search for any missing child. The organization was started in memory of the famous Jennifer Blagg murder case in 2001.

Paige Birgfeld, a Grand Junction mother of three was reported missing on June 30th. The car she was driving was found fully engulfed in a parking lot just miles away from her home. For more information about joining the search you can call the Jennifer And Abby Foundation at 254-1567.

Search for mom resumes

Friends, family search miles of highway for clues

By David Montero, Rosa Ramirez and Ellen Miller, Rocky Mountain News
July 16, 2007

WHITEWATER — Volunteers are scheduled to comb a stretch of U.S. 50 this morning for clues that may lead to the whereabouts of a missing Grand Junction mom.
Checks, a check register and some undisclosed personal items were found yesterday along the highway southeast of Grand Junction.

Heather Gierhart, a spokeswoman for the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, said this morning that investigators have found personal items along the highway for the past two weeks.

"We're not commenting on any of the items. They are personal items that belonged to Paige," Gierhart said.

About 40 volunteers and searchers canvassed a 15-mile stretch of U.S. 50 yesterday looking for clues to the 34-year-old woman's disappearance from Grand Junction more than two weeks ago. Authorities still don't know what happened to the mother of three.

"We're still fairly certain she didn't walk away and that there was foul play involved," Gierhart said yesterday.

Gierhart also said the search area is expanding rather than shrinking because Birgfeld's items have been found scattered along the highway.

Frank Birgfeld, Paige's father, said the fact that some items have been found is encouraging.

"Is this the proverbial trail of bread crumbs left by Paige," he said. "You kind of like the sound of that as a dad."

His daughter has been missing since the night of June 28. Her car was found burning in a gravel parking lot of an auto parts distribution warehouse July 1. The investigation into her disappearance has revealed much about her life — including that she juggled several jobs, ranging from Pampered Chef salesperson to running an independent escort service.

Her first husband, Ron Biegler, said Birgfeld was an "extremely trusting" person who could have found herself in over her head.

"She always saw the good in people," Biegler said. "But she could be a little naive to the dark side of what some men are capable of."

Described as a very caring person and devoted mother, Birgfeld held a series of jobs to make ends meet. She sold Pampered Chef merchandise, ran a dance class for preschoolers and was always looking for other business opportunities. Her mother said at one point she was looking into breeding dogs.

"I knew she wouldn't be able to do that," Suzanne Birgfeld said. "Not all of them make it, and she would have a hard time with that."

The devotion people in Grand Junction feel for Birgfeld was reflected by those who went out looking for her.

Riina Stockemer said she has known Birgfeld for six years. Both women have children about the same age. Stockemer, 34, had a colorful bruise on one knee, the result of trying to jump over a ditch, and said she will "stay until they tell us to go. Paige is my friend. It's hot, but we have a breeze today, so it's better than yesterday."

Paige Birgfeld's older brother, Craig, continued looking for his sister all day. Frank Birgfeld said "he didn't miss a shift."

Anyone with information about Paige Birgfeld can call 970-244-3500.

Missing mother led double life..

Grand Junction, Colorado:

Authorities are saying Paige Birgfeld, a 34 year old mother, was leading a double life. Splitting her time between her kids and the community and being an escort.

Authorities say her ex-husbands have not be ruled out as suspects but are not persons of interest.. Another theory, she might have hooked up with the wrong man through the escort service. On msnbc, a FBI profiler even went a step further and said maybe she wanted to leave these two identities behind and build a third (I find that highly doubtful)..

Searchers found the missing woman's items along a highway. Among them were Birgfeld's Blockbuster movie-rental card and her checkbook.

This seems like a very interesting case..hopefully, she will be found alive.
Here is the interesting story:

I just learned about this today. What a sad story, and a total mystery. I do hope that the personal items they found were her way of showing where she was taking, since it sounds like they were scattered along the highway.

Interesting article, Starling...I wonder who her "client" might have been that evening...perhaps she used her cell phone 5 miles from her home to confirm the 'date', then parked her car another 5 miles away in that parking lot. I also wonder if Models, Inc made the dates for her and have a record of her clients...The article also stated that her cell was 'turned off' after that call...but it would still send pings out, wouldn't it?

As for a "trail of breadcrumbs", I highly doubt any kidnapper would allow a victim to go through her purse and toss things out of the window. I'm more inclined to believe someone else had her purse in a car and was going through it, tossing evidence out of the window instead of having it in their car.

I just hope she's found....her poor children....

Once her phone is shut off it would not ping anymore,it must be turned on to send out pings.I hope the body found is not her but I do think her outlook is grim.I do not know this lady but feel she still needs our prayers and hope we remember she has three small children.I am so sad hearing about all these cases like this but esp. ones that do not get any media attention.I have a odd feeling about her ex hubby's.moo I also think you are right about someone else tossing things from her purse and do not think it would be her so I agree with you.

This is weird. I think this is the same article but looks like the article itself has been pulled. In the comments section is this:

"Just to be clear, there has been no body found ... only reported. Authorities responded to a vague report of an object-like torso, but did not find anything. The canal "traps" were set up just in case, but nothing has been discovered.
Stan Hilkey
Mesa County Sheriff"
