Julikan,

Just my opinion but I think in San Angelo there is a better chance of seating more women on the jury.

From what I saw when the jury in Eldorado came back in, the women [4] looked like they had been through almost six hours of Hell. Their eyes were puffy, there were some obvious signs of emotional distress on their faces. The men of the jury just looked ticked off, like they wanted to get out of there.

Again, just my opinion, but I think those women were fighting for more than the ten years they came back with.

At least in San Angelo, with a larger pool, I think there is a shot at getting more females on the jury.

Men, especially men who come from a manual labor background, don't see a pregnant teenager as a sign of "gross abuse", more like maybe an error in judgment or something? I think they are more forgiving of the practice than women who understand that girl's life is now probably set in stone, forever.

Eldorado deserves the opportunity to continue trying to seat juries for these trials. At some point the pool is going to go dry, though, for sure.

The FLDS is doing even more business in San Angelo than in Eldorado. I know that for sure. You can definitely expect them to trot out the same kind of people in their sentencing phase, i.e. "They are real decent people because they do great construction work and have a good overall work ethic".

Like I told someone in Eldorado, almost four years ago when he said, "Well, they're real hard workers,"...."No offense sir, but so were the Germans. That doesn't necessarily make them good".

But when you're in any rural Texas community, being a "hard worker" goes a long way in the "good character" department, especially with men. Hey, so what if you left a little girl in hard child labor for three days risking her and her baby's life, as long as you build a great house, get it done on time and under budget you've got "good character".
