We might be getting a new rescue

We have been contacted about a 1 1/2 yr old male PBGV. His owner is an elderly man who had to move in with his children and the children told him he could not take his beloved dog. They made him take it to a shelter where he was shaved and nobody knew what he was.

This was in KY. One of the shelter's board members realized it was a PBGV and contacted the man's children for the health info and he is AKC registered and all that.

He has since been moved to TN for foster and he is on his way to Charlotte now.

About the breed:

I love these dogs and always look for them in the Dog Shows I watch.

That is sad about the elderly man. I would never take my dads dog away from him.

Hope you get him. Keep us updated.

Sending you postive energy.

Isn't that just awful??????? That they would make him take his dog to a shelter. It's still a puppy, really.

Thx for the good energy! My husband and I, too, have fallen in love with them during dog shows and always look for them.

He is a bit of a mess right now because he was shaved down completely but he has the most beautiful eyes.

Aww DG he is a real cutie! I hope you get him. He has known a lot of love by his dad and you would be the perfect family to give him back the love he once had. Happy Day!

If anyone knows anyone who is a German Shephard person please please write me. The Ozark Humane Society has a huge adult male in their shelter. He is hairy, looks to be Euro bloodline going by the amount of hair on him and his size. He is going to be stuck in the kennel until someone can take him. I will gladly pay to fly him out to the right home.

My neighbors adopted the adult Rottie they had and now after much work, they have rehabbed him so well. He is a big lover of a boy, and no longer thinks cats taste like chicken, Thank GOD!

How cute! PB&J!!!!

His owner came to the shelter and he would cry and the doggy would cry--for three weeks. Breaks my heart.

Thank you, Rootbeer and Mafitz!

I spoke to the woman who has been fostering him today and he sounds like a wonderful dog.

Guess we're on for transfer next weekend. Cannot believe we are taking on a third dog, but he has been trained and has great recall, sit, stay, walking on leash and his foster mom says he is just a cuddle bug. But that he has a HOUND bark!

Congratulations! Will the shelter be able to tell that poor man that someone has adopted his former dog? What an awful thing to have happen. I'm sure he'd feel a lot better knowing there was a loving home waiting for this little cutie.

The woman who found him at the shelter--the one who knew what he was, he had been shaven down and put in with some terriers, of all things, and destined to be put down--is letting him know, which is wonderful!

I said we would take pictures and send to him, as well.

The PBGV rescue group had approved us some time back.

But it's wonderful the way things work out. The woman who saw him at the shelter knew what he was, took him in, got the info from his owner, found the rescue group and has provided all the vet care. And now he is making his way here on the ole rescue underground--going from car to car till he gets to Chlt from KY. He was in TN this past week.

That's absolutely heart wrenching. If my mom came to live with me, I wouldn't ever consider excluding her animals.

Good Luck, DG - keep us posted on your new family member!

It was meant to be! It's wonderful that you're going to send the man pictures. He'll be happy to know what a great home his dog has found.

I don't see a PBGV as a terrier, but I guess someone did! Thank Goodness someone knew what he was and got him into the right rescue.

That is similar to how I got my mini doxie. One of my sister's inlaws is disabled and the person she had to go live with made her find a new home for her dog. They were going to make her take him to the shelter and she called me and asked if I would take him. I really was not in the market for another dog but did it because it POd me that they would do that to her. He has turned out to be a real joy though and she is able to come and visit him often.
I would never make my mother or father give away their pets either. I'm glad you will be able to let him know that his baby is safe though.
