Title or headline of the post #80 asks Who was that rubbing hubby's back? - I said that I was on the KCRG site as CNN wasn't up yet. threw the turquiose shirt in on the 2nd time asking.

Good for him and good for Sean.

Someone rubbing Gene's back?
I missed that too. I was wondering when a GF would show up.

I won't be surprised to hear Gene files for divorce. Perhaps not right away but I think it's coming.
Also, I do think Gene and family have been having a lot of grief dealing with Sean. He hasn't gotten over the river incident and then this! Poor child.

Gulity 1st Degree Murder
Such a sad case - I am not familiar with all of the evidence, but I did hear Ashleigh and Jack both say there was a lot of pre-meditation. Also, I think the State's rebuttal witness basically described in detail how she told him she covered up the crime - I suspect the cover-up really did her in.

Oh my heavens!!! This case was chocker-blocked full of "pre-meditation." A jury couldn't get past all of them....Nor could I.

I actually had predicted this morning the jury would be back in 1.5 hours - I missed it by 11 minutes... (well, they probably took a quick smoke....

My husband had run to the grocery store. He was shocked that a verdict had come in.
We were talking about whether or not Michelle knew right from wrong. He said, well she told the jury with her own words, she said the kids were going to heaven and she was going to he!!.
Not bad for a guy that only watched the trial as he went room to room in the house. Guess the jury caught that too. MOO

Gotta admit I was was asking because the cynic in me kicked in. It was probably a family member.
Does the view of the posts not include the headline? I thought that when you are posting a new post (not responding to something) you are supposed to state what the post is in reference to in the title or headline. I'll restate the headline, in future, if that doesn't seem to be showing up for some. It shows up in bold on my screen.

Obviously the jury were of like minds when they got in there to deliberate.
Would like to see more decisions come this fast.

Hi BirdWatch,
I think it does show up. But that feature is used so infrequently, that I tend to miss it. Sorry 'bout that.

I think this women is broken and has been since she was 6 years old, and she can never be fixed. My heart was telling me that she needed to be put somewhere not for punishment but for watching for the rest of her life. But then my mind was saying how do you listen to that child discribe what happened to him and his baby brother and not want to hold her accountable. I agree with the verdict as she did do many many things to plan and carry out her plan, however one child survived her brutal attack and thank God he did. She deserves LWOP.
Thank you for listening to me.

No problem. It just led another poster to answer a different question than I asked and that confused me. Now I know to do it differently.

But then I worry that they maybe should have sat around and had lunch or chatted.
We had a very quick verdict here on Mayor Larry Langford's trial and now that is one of the major points in the appeal. Jury just barely had time to go over all the 60 charges and say "guilty" to each one. Defense says they didn't deliberate. They want a retrial.
At least on this one there were really only a couple of issues to decide.
Good job jury. Sad for all involved anyway.

FOR THE JURY ! Good job. I was really convinced they would buy the smoke and mirrors from the defense. And a verdict under two hours you guys are awesome.
I know several on the board did buy the defense and I really thought at least one on this jury would too. I'm so glad to say I was wrong.
Hope to see you at the next trial.

I thought for sure the verdict would take a few hours. I had to run an errand but recorded Jami's show and just watched the verdict. I wonder if Insession will show the sentencing hearing?

I Am so happy this jury got it. murder in the first. lwop, she deserves it.
i would have asked for death myself....but that's just me.
I hope that one day this poor child can get over what was done to him, you'd be so surprised how resilient children can be.
Hugs all,
It's the right verdict. Depression is never a reason to Murder, and this woman was a Pharm Tech. She knew about as much about meds as I probably do; and she also knew the signs and where and how to get help for her, if her mind was slipping.
I never believed her defense. And then yesterday late afternoon watching her flip through the charges, fully cognitive. She was playing to the camera. Of that I'm certain.

Totally agree with you on her being "broken". She is getting put away for the rest of her life & even if she was sent to an institution for the criminally insane would probably never get out.
She'll probably get the same medical tx. in prison that she would get in a State hospital ... medication.
Have only been able to follow this trial in bits & pieces & am thankful for the many posts on the board that have filled in the spaces.
A big thank you from me to y'all.

I am so glad the jury kept their eyes on the ball and didn't fall for all the nonsense.
I didn't buy the defense blah blah two seconds. This woman was much too lucid when she spun her story about a man being the bad guy!
Praise be there was true justice today for the children.
imo

I am pleased with the verdict. Came home from work and started reading this thread and was flabergasted at the speed of the verdict. I will always remember how painful it was for us to wait for the Spector verdict. It seemed forever!
Thanks to everyone here for the great coverage and insightful comments. On to the next trial.

you know what i couldn't get past was the fact that this woman tried to kill herself 3 times. 3 TIMES!!!!! now if somebody really wants to off herself would they really fail on three attempts? this screamed to me of "pay attention to me" rather than "i want to die".
this is a lady who had some knowledge of medicines and bodily functions. when she cut her femoral artery didn't she also know that the blood would eventually clot?
i realize this lady has severe emotional problems but the fact that her own family didn't even speak on her behalf tells me they'd had it with her a long time ago.
i think she'll get what she deserves. the judge has no discretion in this penalty i gather. it's LWOP. period. good enuf for me.

I can't figure out the family - particularly the husband. If he didn't pay attention and get her serious help; but then he drove a couple of hours every single day to visit her in jail - till LE put a stop to that. (I'm not clear if he didn't see her after that or if it was just not as often) Does anyone else find that strange?

Very pleased with this verdict. For all the people that tried to drum up sympathy for her on the shows.... when her sucide attempt failed, she kept up the lie about the big bad stranger. This was shortly after she murdered her one child and tried to kill the other, and realized her attempts wouldn't work.
Sorry, she knew right from wrong. The other cases they tried to use... don't hold water. Andrea Yates tried again and again to seek help. Yet when presented with the chance to do the same, Michelle chose to lie... again and again. She would have kept up her lies in the hospital if her older son hadn't survived. She knew right from wrong and deserves the sentence she got.

one of the In Session hosts (Jamie maybe, or Beth) had explained that because hubby was a potential witness and a crime victim that his visits had to stop til after the verdict. he sure didn't look all that upset after the verdict that's for sure.
what really saddens me (and this brings the Yates case to mind) is that this woman was having serious mental problems even long before she gave birth. what was she thinking? what was her husband thinking? she's emotionally unstable in the extreme and she brings two more souls into the world.
frankly i think both she and hubby needed their heads examined.

I have a feeling she will try to kill herself again in prison or ask another prisoner to kill her.
