I guess I've never seen someone's family do this during a missing person investigation and it just seems odd to me. I sort of got the feeling that the parents might have had a pretty good indication that Morgan ran away and don't want to say that because it might stop the searches. By using the dots and the hand signals they were telling her it was okay to come home or that they still loved her. Which would mean that the public is being somewhat mislead about the circumstances of the disappearance. Just rambling...my own opinion and not often correct, btw.
It would be nice if she just "ran away" (instead of the alternative) but IMO I don't think that's the case. If I was a parent I would defininetly be telling my child I love them (this happens in all missing persons cases) and this is how this family says it. As far as the dots on the door, you make it sound like this is something new they put up as a "message" to Morgan, or for the news. IMO I feel that this has been on their door for years. I don't think it is odd, or a sign, I just think it is the family expressing the love they have for their child.

Respectfully, that is not what I said. I know things get jumbled with only one thread but please reread.

"Thigh high boots" and "hooker" were 1st used in the post #944. I replied in post #956. There are several posts on the topic that follow including #967.

To lighten and enlighten on the issue of boots. This am on HLN, Robin Meade called them "above the knee boots" and said they were "sassy". IOW, boots are hip.

Whatever she wore, Morgan rocked her outfit that night. It is not my hinky meter flying. My boots were made for walking.............

Again, I do agree with you, and you are very likely correct. Part of me would like to believe that that there is more to it and that whatever 'it' was, it drove Morgan away rather the alternative, which is pretty bleak. Kind of twisted logic on my part, but you just never know.

Wow 20 search teams. Incredible!

Posted: 10:30 a.m. | Updated 3:34 p.m.

So far, the search leader indicated, nothing has been found.

The searchers were told specifically to be on the lookout for a distinctive gold necklace that Harrington, who grew up in Roanoke County, had been seen wearing before her Oct. 17 disappearance while in town to see a concert by the band Metallica at the John Paul Jones Arena.

The search teams also were instructed to alert authorities immediately if they came across any potential evidence and to avoid touching anything they found that might be germane to the investigation.

Interesting about the necklace. First time I hear about a distinctive gold necklace. Why haven't they shown a photo or something of it in the media?

I believe this is the first I've heard of a gold necklace. If it is distinctive, it would certainly be helpful to alert the public to what it looks like. Somebody may have seen Morgan somewhere wearing it, but without anybody knowing about it, they wouldn't have paid any attention.

This link to a Channel 10 (Roanoke) story is interesting:

http://www2.wsls.com/sls/news/state_..._begins/60473/

I had been led to believe that the 3 people in the car en route to the Metallica concert were Morgan, her roommate Amy, and Amy's boyfriend. Now another young lady named Sarah says she was the third person in the car. So, which is it?! Did the boyfriend go or not go? And if he did, wouldn't that have been 4 people in the car? Why can't somebody get a complete, coherent story out there?

Sarah Snead was always part of the group. 4 people when they arrived and 3 when they left.

Glad she showed up for the search. I wonder if Amy did too.

But in the 12:05 section of the article, she distinctly says there were 3 who went to the concert, and only 2 when they went back home.

I saw Sarah interviewed on the 6:00 o'clock news tonight. If Amy was present, she didn't speak with reporters.

I think that reporter got it wrong, imo. There was an eye witness who saw the 4 arrive and saw 3 in the same car leaving after the concert. Morgan wasn't with them.

I agree! And I respectfully suggest that LE start visiting pawn shops...and perhaps releasing a sketch or photo of the necklace so that if someone's wife/gf/acquaintance has recently been wearing a "new" necklace like that, the lead can then be pursued.

BTW -- Has Morgan owned the necklace for a long time, or is it new to her? Could it possibly be traced to someone she met recently (who gave it to her as a present) whom her parents know nothing about? JMO.

Does anyone know? TIA

The necklace really shocked me. If it was something the searchers were told to look for, why wasn't it made public?

rambling rose )

LE is not leading the search. The Laura Recovery people are. Did LE know about the necklace? Even if they did, Dan Harrington has not had any problems confirming his side of the story. I guess I am mostly confused as to why the necklace would be expected to be found? If she struggled and it came off, I would think it was near her pocketbook, or in some struggle or in the getaway vehicle? Why haven't any of the "confirmed" eyewitnesses mentioned this?

As for Sarah vs the UVA grad, aren;t they both "eyewitnesses"? Who is more credible?

So sad as so far it's just more of the same old confusing, conflicting info that make this case so strange.

Regarding the blue van, the poster alleges her stepfather was in the lot of Boyd Tavern Market and it was closed when the man in van incident occured. Boyd Tavern is a township near Charlottesville. It is a gas & grocery store, Not sure what to make of the story. JMT&OO

You know, I saw a live interview where her mother explains how they came up with the 421 and the dots, and she said "morgan would have loved it" (the idea)

So this isn't something that was old, I saw the interview and this was something that was new, her mother said she would have loved it, the idea of it.

Whether or not this is a cult, Maybe Morgan wanted to lead her own life. TES and team, I hope they can help find her.

This is what gets me about this investigation. Do they realize that by putting out or withholding seemingly important information that it only serves to hamper the search? Not only that, its exactly what furthers the speculation (at least in my case!) that there's more to this than meets the eye. So while the general public is busy focusing on hand signals and dots and the number of people in the car, who called whom on a cell phone, whether or not she was injured, if there is any surveillance video that proves she was there, whether or not her friends are involved or not due to their closed mouths, lost necklaces, etc., the general public is unable to properly assist...because they don't quite know what is going on. This is only makes it worse. So sad.

OH I just remembered: Mom's explanation went something like this:
They had a way they said good bye, I am not sure this is exact but its something like

"I love you always" 4

Answer: And Again 2

answer back: Forever 1

Ok now. As you can see; the phrase they all said to one another was this above. It was how they said goodbye. And, turning this phrase into these numbers to me, yes it's innovative and artsy and all that. As she said morgan would have loved it.

Well my take is that it is very cult like. It's not like someone who is missing would even understand 4 2 1 and this is what bothered me about it. It seems cult like to me. These things stand out to some; not to others. It's a way of thinking. And this bothers me.

Past cases involving missing persons, have shown that when family members withhold information, good bad OR ugly it only hurts the investigation.
Think about Scully's case in WA. His girlfriend found out he belonged to some swinging groups. Instead of slamming him; she searched for him with LOVE knowing that what he did; or his habits meant nothing. Only finding him was what mattered, and telling the truth helped as in his case it lead to 2 people who were involved in his death, they were directly related to the swinging. (jealousy)

His GF, I will never forget her. She really loved him. And was very open and honest, instead of trying to Hide whatever his habits were, she put them right out there.
Past cases have shown, honesty is of utmost importance. IOW say you have a prostitute who goes missing. Or someone who has a drug habit. Do you exclude that information? NO. Will it damage how they are looked for? In the public eye it may; but to LE NO.

We see this every day in mainstream media. Ohhhhhh they had a drug habit? Well then all bets are OFF. Ohhhhhh she had on thigh high boots? O M G then all bets are off; she must be trashy....etc.
Ohhhhhh she was raped and was wearing THAT? Ohhhhhhhh

Sadly we are still not past that old school way of thinking. Holding back only damages a case. lies, make it even worse. Only now we are finding out about her jewlery? Most cases that would have been the first thing on her missing person report. I wear jewelry, and if I went missing, it would be described. To the public! Maybe a favorite cross; or a favorite pair of diamond rings or ear rings..etc. These things are so important.

There has been some secrecy in this case. And that's never a good thing. It makes me wonder if Morgan truly was running from her parents way of life, or a life being imposed on her. From religion to college; maybe she just wanted to party and be free. We don't know.

Maybe she was abducted or high and fell once, maybe twice or fell right off the bridge, highly intoxicated. We just don't know. But because we know she went in the direction of that bridge, under that bridge and the waters would be my first guess as to where she was if an accident occurred. I hope this is not the case.

See, it bothered me too. Now, I do remember Gill showing some drawing Morgan did as a gift to her. It had three hands sketched on it displaying four fingers, two fingers and one finger, if I recall It was a sweet gift but I still don't think that I, in Morgan's shoes, would necessarily equate that to dots on a door. I don't know. I've seen some explanations for this 'code' and the hand gestures but I still find it......well.....curious, for lack of a better word.

Ahh! I finally got MH's new site to load and at the top is the correct exact words that her mother used.
I hope that TM and his group can help to find her. But I am so worried that they usually look for deceased individuals.
Why hasn't LE done these searches? Why do families always have to raise money, and have volunteers come out-what is wrong with this picture?
The National Guard should be used in these cases.

The other question that I have is, what about her computer?

Does the FBI have it? If so, did it reveal that she may have voluntarily left?

Cynda Johnsonis Dan Harrington's boss. She is the 2nd highest paid employee at VT and one of the top in the state university system. VT considers Johnson a "professional rock star"

Dan Harrington left uVA in 1990 to start up the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke. What Harrington and Johnson will earn is lot$ more than the salary from VT, IMO.

There was a whole lot at stake before Morgan went missing.

Are you saying that this is somehow connected to Morgans disappearance?? Not being mean. Just trying to follow along w/what you are getting at.

Me too. Also, I wonder why Texas Equisearch isn't the group that is looking for Morgan?

That just kind of struck me as odd.

Not sure. I am glad they got someone out there. Last night, I had a dream that they found her. I don't think i've ever had a dream about a case before. It was weird.

but you guys, last I heard (this week) was that the Laura Recovery Center IS searching for her all weekend. They are using this name in the press conferences, instead of TES....I don't know why. Maybe bad press from HC and CA case.....

But they are searching right now. He arrived I think Tues or Wednesday night.
That is what they said in their press conference anyway.

I believe that the poster means the Harringtons are using the Laura Recovery Center instead of using Texas Equusearch (TES). And I believe she means that the founder of the Laura Recovery Center (I believe his name is Smithers) has arrived in C'ville.

I'm quite sure they are two different organizations. And -- definitely MOO -- perhaps TES will be called in if the search moves out of the urban area into more rural terrain. Just a thought.

Hi Ann it's always great to see you! Hugs. Yes, they use both names. Laura was Tims daughter

I hope that they find her, but I hope she just comes forward alive. I'm hoping at this point she did walk away. What bothers me is knowing she took a fall; she could have hit her head and have amnesia or something like that. Few cases make me think that.
But because we know she took a spill; it's a possibility for this case.

Thanks for clarifying!

And, just as another point, I believe Tim's last name is Miller. MOO.
