I know I am old and sometimes have a severe case of CRS but I can't recall ever hearing about pregnant women dying from the flu. And there was case on TV where they kept the woman in a coma for 7 weeks after delivering the baby. Have I just missed this somehow? This is what really caught my attention and made me decide that this flu was very dangerous.
The stories about pregnant women dying have not been very personal - merely a count - only the one of the woman who miraculously survived it made much news. But the women who have died - they've been mostly a one line mention in stories about H1N1.
28 dead (a high number considering the much smaller population of pregnant women versus children or other adults), 100 needing intensive care, in America (not worldwide). Children - it's about 100 dead. It hits fast, which can be the scary bit - there have been stories, particularly about children - they get a bit of cough and fever, go to bed, and don't wake up, or are past the point of no return by morning. And it hasn't even hit full strength yet - this is still early flu season, not main.
