Vincent Lamoureux and Hugo Pereira disappeared on Feb. 3

MONTREAL – Early last Wednesday, Laval residents Vincent Lamoureux, 20, and Hugo Pereira, 22, sent text messages to each other and to someone else.

That was the last time they have communicated with anyone, according to Montreal police.

The two men were last seen at the Diable Vert bar on St. Denis St. about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police discovered several text messages were sent from either one or both of the two cellphones belonging to the two men to a third party between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

"The investigation leads us to believe that they were the ones sending the messages," said Montreal police spokesperson Constable Daniel Lacoursière.

The two men may have been driving a black 2007 Acura TL with the licence plate number 861 ZBD.

Hugo Pereira is 5-foot-9, weighs 180 pounds, has brown eyes and short brown hair. He has an earring in his left ear and a pierced eyebrow. He was wearing blue jeans, a white zip-up and a black jacket.

Lamoureux has blue eyes and short brown hair. He is 5-foot-8 and weighs 160 pounds and was wearing blue jeans, a green and grey V-neck shirt, a black jacket that said "énergie" on it and a fur hat.

The families of Lamoureux and Pereira have set up a Facebook group dedicated to finding them. Anyone with information is asked to call 514-393-1133.

Comment:

It is not impossible that spontaneous vendetta erupted at any
particular numbers of night clubs or after hours between the missing
and individuals with behavioral problems. Anyone having witnessed
any verbal animosities or confronations should obviously give some
tips to the above line, or to LCN at 514-598-2857

MONTREAL - Police divers were unable to locate a car in the Rivière des Prairies where it appears the car of two missing Laval residents went into the waterway in a possible accident.

The search will resume Wednesday morning, police said.

Divers worked until sundown but were also working in murky water where the vuisibility is only two feet in front of them.

The Montreal police major crimes squad is investigating the disappearance of two men, Vincent Lamoureux, 20, and Hugo Pereira, 22. They were last seen at a bar on St. Denis St. on Wednesday.

In Ontario, the OPP is proud of " Bill 203 - Safer Roads for a Safer Ontario Act "
also known as the STREET RACING LAW.

In this particular case, at 3 AM between Tuesday and Wednesday,
2 cars were founds on the side of the Viau bridge, between Laval
and Montreal. A wheel had already snapped from the car, crushed
and severed from the car before dropping in the water, as the entrance
to the bridge was missed by the drivers, perhaps from the excess
speed coming from a long straight road, the ice, slippery conditions
didn't allow the steering of the car to adhere to the curved entrance
to that bridge, so the drivers went straight ahead, missing the bridge
entrance, snapping a telephone wire to a pole, displacing cement
blocks that prevented curious drivers from snooping around the
dirt area around the bridge entrance, (formerly a home, that was
removed and taken away in the exact spot.)

The only mystery now, is who was driving the other automobile, whether
there is a driver in the other car as well or more passengers drowned
in that other vehicle. If the cars contain the bodies, then the autotopy
will determine through bullet wounds or blows to the head, air bag
deployments and similar, whether street gangs or the underworld
was involved, or a vendetta from someone they knew in the night club
scene, rubbed them out.

Right now, if the bodies are found intact, and another car with
driver, Occam's Razor would suggest a street driving event gone
wrong, between 2 cars, the 2 men only 20 and 22 years old, horsing
around which in itself is not surprising at that age, and this is known
to insurance companies, accident statistics, etc.

Whether there was drinking, is obvious, as they were coming from a
nightclub serving beer, shooters, and other cocktails. Drugs seems
very unlikely for those 2 men, who volunteered their time at a hospital
or a social services location in Montreal, several times a week, in
between school etc.

Divers find car in river in search for two missing men
"Police have confirmed they have found the Acura connected to the disappearance of two missing Laval roommates.

Surete du Quebec divers joined the search for Vincent Lamoureux and Hugo Pereira, scouring the waters of the Riviere des Prairies on the Laval side of the Viau Bridge in a search that began Tuesday.

Police have found two cars in the water, and are in the process of extracting them from the river, said CTV's Annie DeMelt, reporting live from the scene.

Police could not confirm if any bodies were in the vehicles. Larger boats are being brought in to help divers determine that information, because strong currents are making the recovery efforts diffult. [sic]"

If the friends did not have the chance to jump out the car or at least open a window or door before going into the water, I expect they will be found inside the car. Once in the water, and without a life h a m m er, they wouldn't have been able to get out.
So very tragic.
It reminds me of a case that still haunts me...when I lived in Montreal, and a car slid into the Lachine Canal..a whole family..

Police found the bodies of two missing Laval roommates Tuesday in an Acura submerged in the Riviere des Prairies.

The search for Vincent Lamoureux and Hugo Pereira led Montreal and Surete du Quebec divers to the icy waters of the river on the Laval side of the Viau Bridge.

Police are in the process of towing the car with the bodies inside from the river, said CTV's Annie DeMelt, reporting live from the scene.

Strong currents have made recovery efforts diffult and dangerous, said police.

I drove by the bridge and exact spot where the accident occurred,
and it's not at all impossible to have happened ... it's quite OBVIOUS
that it CAN and WILL happen, for anyone driving a straight line.

Usually, the road 50 yards in front of the bridge entrance is crappy,
with a lull, and a wide open space, with lighting on the low-side
but still obvious enough for anyone driving 45KM to 50 Km tops,
without any worry, stress or confusion.

From what I can see, the driver surely was doing 120 KM or 100 KM
minimum, and did not bother turning the steering at all, towards the
bridge. Of course, with dirt, ice and possibly Jack Daniels and lack
of sleep, and the rush to pick up the lady at the Diable Vert, heavy
on the accelerator pedal, what happened becomes completely
unavoidable and relentless.

The speed might even be higher than that, since the car had to break
through a metal fence on the right hand side of the bridge entrance,
almost skillfully driven and streered beside a brick cabin on the left
side, going down-slope on the grass hill, and ... not stopping ....
crashing through the metal fence covering the river itself, which
also needs a lot of momentum, weight, and speed to break.

Any car doing 40 to 50 KM, having started falling downhill, could have
stopped EASILY on that hill by hitting the brakes 3/4 of the way to
the river fence. And at that point, even if tilted into the river, would
have allowed the people with seat belts to hop out without injury,
unless airbags unpacked and visibility was eliminated from the bag,
and stepping out impossible from the bags blocking the doors, windows,
etc.

Therefore, huge speeds are to blame, and entirely missing the
entrance like it never existed, ploughing straight ahead like a rocket.

Good morning Lanceman....I was under the impression the accident happened due to drag racing...wasn't there another car that crashed as well??

Maybe I'm wrong....I'll need to go back and read.

The police failed to remove the bodies from the car directly,
because the other automobile was obstructing the operations.
So, they pulled the Accura from the water, opened the door, and
then the bodies were extricated from the Accura, outside of water.

The other car is unrelated, contradicting early speculation, and
the police is now saying it was probably a stolen car dumped in the
water, to avoid detection by the joy riders, etc.
