I took lunch at just the right time! So now Casey is a convicted felon for the rest of her life no matter what else happens. The probation is a joke since she is in county lock up already. Although if she should ever step foot out of a jail or prison she would still have the probation to deal with I suppose.

Sounds like the Judge is finally making a move to get the depos scheduled and wants all of these lawyers to get their act together and get all the housekeeping of the case underway. Get the motion hearings going and so forth. I don't look for this case to go to trial for at least another year or maybe more.

The defense is going to drag it out as long as they can. At least Casey stays behind bars and is not free on bond. Look how long Drew Peterson was out doing as he pleased before they even locked him up.

Great point! I have an aunt like that that scared us much more when she smiled than anything she could have done. You knew her smile was trying desperately to cover irritation if not outright rage and when that brittle smile showed, you ran for the hills before she blew. Reminds me of Cindy.

Before this sentiment gets written in stone, that is just not what is happening. The testimony will be preserved in the event she does pass away or be too ill to travel. The state will be afforeded the opportunity to cross examine the witness at the time her testimony is preserved. JMO

If the prosecution doesn't get to depo her how can that ever be let into trial then? the prosecution will not know how to move forward without them getting their chance. One of the more interesting things today, I thought, was Jose complaining about the "five years" offered for the check charges -- sounds to me like the State wasn't real interested in dealing on any plea bargain.

Sounds like Jose was just sort of stuck throwing his client on the mercy of the court with no offer from the state. Now much did Convicted Felon CMA pay for her "dream team" defense to get that deal? Before this sentiment gets written in stone, that is just not what is happening. The testimony will be preserved in the event she does pass away or be too ill to travel. The state will be afforeded the opportunity to cross examine the witness at the time her testimony is preserved. JMO

I was under the impression she already gave a statement to the defense investigators. The prosecution wants to depose her based on that statement and the defense was stonewalling. If she were to die prior to the Prosecution having access to her, I think it is possible that her statement could be entered into the record with the warning to the jury that the Prosecution did not have a chance to challenge/cross examine her. The defense culd try to get it in, not guaranteed.

Hi oswald. The one motion I heard was the prosecutions motion for reciprical discovery from the dfense and the judge is setting a schedule for cut off dates for it to be turned over to the prosecution.
The other motion. The judge granted for the video deposition from Kron's ex-wife but not her testimony for trial atthe time.

I don't think that's correct Ozzy. She is an adult regardless of where she obtained housing or clothing, etc. A lot of correctional facilities are starting to use the inmates disposable income (commissary money and the extremely small fees paid for their jobs) for fines and restitution, back child support, etc. It varies widely in different regions. I don't think Cindy and George are on the hook for any kind of fine or restitution costs incurred by Casey.

I don't know - IF the A's had Casey on their tax returns as a dependent - they could be - tho I don't know if they did that, I'm assuming they might have because of the car, her living at home, and they might look for loopholes - but I think the A's could be on the hook at some point

With the murder trial - will she be billed also for the investigations and court fees for that? That will be in the WOW numbers

Okay, well instead of asking again, no one can give a summary of what happened with the motions :(

The hearing started quickly, with attorney Jose Baez, with Casey at his side, offering a guilty plea to the court on the 13 charges related to check fraud and Casey was immediately sworn in.

“She’s charged with 13 separate crimes or offenses as a result of the four stolen checks,” Judge Strickland said after hearing both sides’ arguments. “On counts 3, 6, 9 and 12, those are the forgery counts, there is going to be an adjudication of guilt and time served is 412 days.”
Strickland also adjudicated guilt on counts 1 and 2 with time served.
“As for the four counts of uttering a forged check, 4, 7, 10, 13, and as to counts 5, 8, 11, three of the four fraudulent use of identification counts, the court is going to withhold adjudication with time served and one year of supervised probation,” Judge Strickland said.

The law says you are legally an adult at the age of 18. If Cindy and George were dumb enough to pick up her tab that's all on them.
