Ahhh, our last thread!!

I would like to thank all of you for inviting me, and to all of us who don't have teams in the SB, we have next year, and the year after!!

And, to those who are lucky enough to have teams in the SB, good luck.!!

Thank you, Sunstar, for all the threads, all the schedules, and all the scores.

To Doc: you have a great sense of humor, good luck next year with the Bills.!!

To everyone else, who were such great sports and so much fun to post with.

And, 2 weeks from tonite there will be only 1 team left, 1 team standing, 1 MVP Player, 1 team on the way to Disney World, and 1 team wearing SB championship shirts and hats!!

Thanks sunstar for the new thread and for being our team captain for the football season! Also, thanks for the wine and snacks.

I like the Colts and the Saints but am gong to cheer for the Saints.

The Super Bowl will be the first time since 1993 that the 2 #1 seeds are playing each other. Cool!

I live in New Orleans and last night was fantastic!! We here are so very excited at our first Superbowl ever!! After the game people all over the city in all neighborhoods came outside and hollered, cheered, hit car horns and set off fireworks. It was so amazing to see the city so happy!
no matter if we win the superbowl or not, we are going to have a magical two weeks. the city will be on a high.

Well,y'all know where my heart is,has been and will always be....

COLTS

But dang it; plenty o' Hoosiers love Drew and the Saints.
I will just say that if my Ponies weren't in this,I'd be for the Saints too.

Not sure if I am hosting a SB party again this time or will go to one,but am planning my menu just the same. Hey,we gotta eat yanno!

Ya'all know where my heart is... hey any team that hasn't had a championship in 40 years... sooooooooooo deserves it and wouldn't it be great if once again it came down to that infamous foot of their kicker.. what a cutie... he was so short... and just flabbergasted that it came down to him... was to funny....

Have nothing against the Ponies... but but but.. they have won it before... and N.O. will absolutely go insane if they can pull this off and even if they don't they have not one thing to be ashamed of.. Drew was awesome.. the whole team was awesome... just keep Kim Kardashian off the tv screen...:tonguewag:

Now lets discuss FOOD... that's what the SB is all about... wings.. veggies.. dip... nacho's... how do you spell quesadilla's.. lol... gotta have black olives for every single finger too...

Because Peyton Manning went to TN and I am a huge MI fan, even though they have only played each other once, there is a kind of rivalry between the two.

I am glad the Colts are playing in the Super Bowl though, more parties to choose from around here!

Pro Bowl - I liked how they introduced the Saints and Colts players that had made the Pro Bowl. They are not playing because of the BIG game next week but it was cool that they got introduced and got to run out on to the field!

I am cheering for the Saints but I do like the Colts and Peyton. This is one year I wish it could be a tie. The history of the Saints and Katrina has pulled me in their direction. Go Saints!

Here are the 20 reasons you should be in New Orleans instead of Miami for the Super Bowl:
1. Because no Mardi Gras has, can, or ever will come close to the madness that's about to erupt there.
2. Because neither the Sun Life Stadium nor the city of Miami is big enough to hold/control Who Dat Nation.
3. Because they don't say "Drew Brezzy Fasheezy" correctly in South Florida.
4. Because more people will be crammed into the Superdome on Sunday to watch t he game.
5. Drive-through daiquiri shops.
6. Because the rest of the country just don't know how to "Second Line."
7. Because you won't hear Dr. John's "Iko Iko" or Professor Longhair's "Big Chief" or "What's My Name?" by the Hot 8 Brass Band blasting out of car windows and hotel lobbies everywhere you go.
8. Because for the first time in forever South Beach is going to have nothing on the French Quarter. Nothing!
9. Because if Peyton Manning wasn't playing in the game, he'd be in New Orleans for this.
10. Where else during this week can you get a free gold tooth with a fleur-de-lis on it?
11. Because at someone's house there will be an old lady who's been living in Louisiana and will tell you a story about how she was raised in the swamps and knew what this place was like "b'fore dem Saints came chere." She will tell you about how she was handed down a gumbo recipe that she would make only if the Saints ever made it to the Super Bowl. She's been waiting more than four decades. On Sunday, she will make that gumbo.
12. Because you can't get a Neptune's Monsoon in the state of Florida.
13. Because in Miami women will wear Reggie Bush jerseys as jerseys. In NOLA for the game, they'll be worn as skirts.
14. Because going to a Saints die-hard's house in New Orleans for this one game is going to be more awe-inspiring, more mind-numbing, more unforgettable, a more "tell-your-grandkids" type of experience (win or lose) than all the celeb parties and $500-a-pop functions going on in Miami combined. (Even if Diddy is hosting.)
15. Po-Boys, 72-ounce beers, oysters, Pat O's, Cooter Brown's, Café Du Monde, Tremé, the 9't Ward, Sazeracs, the Chinese Kitchen, crayfish, jambalaya, crawfish etouffee, collard green croquettes ... and did I say drive-through daiquiri spots?
16. Because people around you watching the game will actually know who Jonathan Vilma is, what Gregg Williams does, been following Devery Henderson before he got to LSU and know how to pronounce Pierson Prioleau's name correctly.
17. There's no other place where sinners and Saints will be praying for the exact same thing (and doing the exact same things) at the exact same time.
18. Because by the time you get there the City Council will have passed the emergency "What happens on Bourbon Street Stays on Bourbon Street" into law.
19. Because there's a difference in seeing thousands of people crying and millions of people crying after their team wins.
20. Because you can finally get to feel what hell feels like frozen over.

GO SAINTS!

44th SB
Obama is the 44th Pres
4+4 is 8, Archie Manning's number
44 days from xmas to SB , I think that's what he said.
44+44 is 88, a Saint's payers number
the Who Dat war cry has 44 letters in it, I don't know if this is true or not, I didn't count it

Can anyone help me find this link? I went to Google but honostly I don't know what to put in

Hey Football Friends!
I've been working my Colts Mojo this past week...building up....seeing signs and BAM-it's tomorrow!

I guess I'm as ready as I can be. I will be drinking Hurricanes as they are made with Blue Curacao,a really nice shade of Colts Blue and I think will try some Beer Margaritas.
I gotta menu to die for and all my clothes cleaned and will decorate the house tomorrow.
Such a special time and I wish this kind of feeling for everyone :)
Granted I don't live in Indy but the Colts belong to the whole Hoosier state so we will share in the joy of just making it to the Super Bowl!
I lived in Bloomington when IU won the NCAA Championship in '87 and there is little to compare. Ah,it's fun for all!
There are aLOT of NO Saints fans up here,I will say, seeing as Drew is a Purdue Alum.
I think this will be a very good Super Bowl. I know the majority of the nation is for the Saints and I appreciate that. Heck,I would be too if my Ponies weren't playing!

See you all tomorrow!

All I know is I would love to be having one of those hurricanes the people on Bourbon St. are walking around with... Thank god CBHope gave me about a 30lb bag of mardi gras beads the last time I saw her.. gave most of them to the grandkids... but I kept some just for an occasion like this:lol:

Check back before kick off... got a few things I gotta do.

If I had one of those hurricanes I'd be passed out before the game starts! They do look good though!

I ALWAYS tear up during the national anthem. Carrie did a good job too. The flags, the soldiers at attention, the big football players with their hands on their hearts, one big guy had to wipe tears, the fighter jets over the field. Tears me up.

Here ya go.. it was Miami vs. Redskins 1973

Super Bowl VII was an American football game played on January 14, 1973, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California, to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion following the 1972 regular season. The American Football Conference (AFC) champion Miami Dolphins (17–0) defeated the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Washington Redskins (13-4), 14–7, and became the first, and presently the only team in the NFL to complete a perfect, undefeated season.

As the lowest-scoring Super Bowl to date with a total of only 21 points (3 TDs, 3 PATs and no field goals), the game was perhaps not as close as the score indicates, as the Dolphins' "No-Name Defense" dominated the game, allowing Washington to cross midfield only once in the first half and only four times overall. But Super Bowl VII is most memorable for the final two minutes of the game: Miami's quest for a perfect season was jeopardized when Dolphins kicker Garo Yepremian picked up a blocked field goal, attempted a forward pass, but batted it in the air, and Redskins' cornerback Mike Bass caught it and returned it 49 yards for a touchdown. It was the longest period in a Super Bowl to date for one team to be shut out, as Washington was held scoreless until 2:07 remained in the fourth quarter.

Dolphins safety Jake Scott was named Most Valuable Player. He recorded two interceptions for 63 return yards, including a 55-yard return from the end zone during the 4th quarter. Scott became the second defensive player in Super Bowl history (after linebacker Chuck Howley in Super Bowl V) to earn a Super Bowl MVP.

I gotta say the challenge on that 2 point conversion was huge and could be the difference in the game.

I was disappointed in the half time show. The lights were cool but the high notes were killing Daltry until he went to octave jumping (which is a real no-no in music.)

The commercials (which were my main reason for watching tonight) have been less than stellar IMO.

I'm kinda rooting for the "Aint's" due to the history of the team and the city, but I'm not a real fan of either team. I do like a good game though...and they seem to be providing that. :)

So, you think LT will be cut?

There will be a lot of off season trades and, the draft...

Gotta love it! The Saints played and won their first Super Bowl. They waited 42 years. I thought they were going to be slaughtered when the Colts got a 10 point lead early on. Everyone around me was laughing. But the 2nd half was crazy, and holy moly, the Saints blew them out. Prior to this, the only 'big' thing the Saints were known for was Tom Dempsey's record 63 yard field goal in 1970. That record still stands today.

There is something going on today with Julius Peppers and the Panthers.
He has refused to sign a long term contract with them...
