I agree. The world of professional sports is full of criminals. Highly paid criminals. First off, IMO there isnt any athlete worth what althelets are being paid today. Second off, I will never understand why athletes are considered to be the "best" of anything. Many go to college and major in nothing, yet get a free ride because they can play a sport. What a crock.

More about Gilbert Arenas & his guns here...

Wizards' Arenas investigated for gun possession

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/12/24/AR2009122402856.html

According to a league source, Arenas has not been charged with a crime yet, but the District has strict gun laws that prohibit carrying guns, openly or concealed...

Arenas may still face actions from the NBA, which allows players to legally own guns but prohibits them from carrying weapons on league property.

Arenas has a prior weapons charge and was suspended for the season opener in 2004-05 after he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor weapons and vehicle charges for possessing a concealed weapon and driving without a license in 2003.

That's ridiculous! I've long since given up either going to any games, or even watching sports on tv. I quit doing so once Reggie Jackson broke over a million dollars with free-agent status in the mid 70s. I refuse to pay the ticket prices to support these guys.

99% of these pampered, overpaid, prima donnas can't hold candles to the players of the 60s and early to mid 70s. Those guys used to play their hearts out for much less money, and gave their all every game. Unlike these steroid enhanced thugs we have playing today.

It's the way sports is managed - so much money involved that anyone with any talent is protected, even when they break the laws, encouraged to play the part of the semi-violent thug - who should be surprised when they step over the line, and move into just being a thug.
