I don't expect to get much response on this here, but the OJ thread is locked so I put it here.
LAS VEGAS (AP) - O.J. Simpson is appealing to the Nevada Supreme Court to overturn his conviction on Las Vegas armed robbery and kidnapping charges.
A court clerk says his appeal was filed Tuesday in Carson City.
The appeal alleges Simpson's conviction in a hotel room confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers was tainted by judicial misconduct, a lack of racial diversity on the jury and errors in sentencing and jury instructions.
The document criticizes Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass and accuses prosecutors of improperly questioning witnesses about allegations of intimidation.
It could take a year or more for justices to issue a ruling.
The former football star was convicted last October and is serving nine to 33 years in state prison.

He's lucky I'm not a Nevada Supreme Court Justice. With OJ's name on the appeal, I'd just write affirmed without bothering to study the case. This is one of the very few cases where our founding fathers would conclude that the constitution and due process does not apply.

That is a scary thought. The constitution and more importantly DUE PROCESS should always apply, equally and across the board.

Due process always applies - it's all the more important for the worst and most despised people in society.
And OJ has had it, with a bit of extra consideration, IMO, appropriate to be certain he is not being treated differently due to people's opinions of him as a person.
And it was confirmed - he's right where he belongs, there is nothing so unusual about his trial as to suggest he should be out awaiting appeals. He stays in jail.

Indeed. that is the reason we need it. Same with free speech. We need freedom of speech to protect unpopular speech, not the speech none of us mind hearing.

Having said that..I dont condone it.....but since it happened in prison..I kinda think its "felon justice" or felon education...

Drudge quoted sources as saying that the 62-year-old Simpson was seriously beaten in what appeared to be a racially-motivated incident.
However, the site offered no further details and there was no immediate confirmation from authorities.
Corrections officials previously said he had been working as a gym janitor while serving a sentence for nine to 33 years for kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon in the gunpoint robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room in September 2007.

Funny isn't it how people perceive things differently?
I watched that entire trial and read every book and report released about it. Yet, I see it differently than you. I've continually heard it reported that OJ was found not guilty because of
1-his dream team. And because
2.the jury wanted to be sure a man of color got off/was found not guilty for killing his white wife and her white male friend.
Had nothing to do with evidence tampering. Only tampering I knew about was OJ spreading his fat hands so the gloves wouldn't fit over his fat knuckles.
I watched the entire trial too, and taped it to watch it again on weekends. Det. Van Natter carried the blood sample in his coat pocket, before an earlier undetected blood drop was found on the gate.
I call that evidence tampering.
Plus... whats his name... the racist cop who is now a FOX news expert of some sort.
Plus... the prosecution just blew the entire case. As a white woman, I would have found him not guilty too.
imo...of course.

If this story of OJ getting a beating turns out to be accurate I would be more inclined to believe it is because he did not avail himself of 'protection'.
Prisons have prison gangs. Prison gangs are more interested in running whatever scam or scheme they believe will benefit them - & one of the easiest to pull is to approach a person they believe has the financial wherewithal to send money. So they tell the guy that they will be happy to provide him with protection...but protection costs money.
And if you don't pay, they make sure you know what a miserable existence will be like. But for a fee...you can be safe(r).
Happens every day, all day long, day in & day out. And to people with a lot less ability to pay. For all OJ's current troubles, he still (IIRC) has pension money coming in.

I agree with you. When prison violence gets out of hand - it puts everyone at risk, including correctional officers and the general public (if the inmates are able to overpower the CO's and escape). Plus, it is usually the baddest of the bad who get their jollies off to the weaker inmates --- which is really disturbing to me.
But I really dislike OJ & have a hard time mustering up any sympathy for him.... but I agree. This type of thing should NOT be happening in prisons. It fosters an unsafe environment for WAY too many people.

I was wondering about this, too.
For one thing, even though he is much older than his football days, he is still a big, strong man. There are not many people who are going to take him on.
Also, OJ is a hero to these guys. They watch football games on the weekends. Many of them watched OJ as he ran over, around and through his opponents on the gridiron.
They worship the man. After all, he is one of them.
Just my Humble Opinion
