Wow, you're right. Why the heck have they released him? He sounds like a time bomb - just a matter of time before he reoffends. Sick POS. There's no logical reason why we are forced to watch out for him with our children. He has stated that he can't/won't change so why did they release him???

Don't let this man next to any VIGRA, At lest he should go to an old folks home with supervision. Make sure it's under supervision . I don't think there's a possibility of SDS. What if he was innocent and spent all that time in jail . He may not have had the funds to defend himself . I'd don't want a guilty person to roam the streets . But I would never want to have an innocent person to spend time in prison for crimes they may not have committed . We'll never know what crimes this person has committed in his younger years . He has served his time . If it's man ever commits a another crime in this category that he should be executed . I do not think that someone at the age of 100 should be ostracized for any transgressions that they may have had in their prior life's discretions. I believe that every one that has served a prison sentence should have the right to die in peace . It's a 50/50 proposition that the courts have gotten right . After that many years parole/probation they show be able to monitor and control his activities . What do you think America has done to lose control of their children , and their morals . If you watch the TV commercials lately . Sex and advertising has gone over the limit .

Sounds to me he served his time and the authorities have little choice.
The half-way house is the first step out.
I guess he'll need a permanent address so he can register as a sex offender.
Then he is out.
As much as we would love to lock them up forever the law says nada.
MOO They say he can barely walk - so as long as the public knows who he is and where he is they can keep their kids away from him. If I was a neighbor of his I would keep poster signs up on nearby posts..... or ask his nearby neighbors to put his photo and info on their front doors (assuming he will be living in an apartment complex)

Prior life? He was 90 when they put him away for offending. And he is unrepentant. Your right about sex and advertising - and this guy will continue to be stimulated to offend, imo

Sadly, in Canada we are NEVER told who are the "community sex offenders". They retain all rights to privacy. IMO

Sypnier took a plea deal which included a sentence of 8 years + parole after that.
But, NYS does have a civil confinement law for sex offenders and I don't know why he was not eligible for this type of commitment.
Here is the law:

Actually, they say he is very agile. And unrepentant.

It's up to our legislators to increase sentencing for child molesters. They won't do it until we scare the livin' daylights out of them.

Yes, I read one article where the pastor at the place he's staying said he could walk for "miles". He said he's capable of living alone and taking care of himself. He didn't even get convicted until he was 90 years old. He was still molesting children at an advanced age.
Make no mistake - this man is still dangerous, especially since he looks so harmless.

no bad words,
He has acknowleged in counseling sessions that he has committed the crimes and he is unrepentent; says he is too old to change. The minister who runs the halfway house he is currently living in says he should not be trusted! He also says he is strong and able to walk for miles. Some of the people who commented on the news site said that he had molested them and they were also not very forgiving. I hope they are able to keep close tabs on him until he goes to his "reward".

I also noticed he has four adult children, none of which have any contact with him. They have totally severed ties with him.
He seems like a really mean man and makes no apologies for it.

I wonder what kind of prison setting he was in, walking out at 100? Did anyone see anything about that, just curious. Prison's kind of a tough place it looks like from the tv shows.
The scariest part is that he wasn't caught until he was 90 or did he somehow loose his mind around that time, know what I mean.

"Sypnier says he is treated no differently than the spring chickens ibehind bars with him. He catches Zs in a standard prison bed, wears a two piece forest green uniform, and chows down on regular mess hall slop."

imo Oops - you're correct; the guy who said he could barely walk is a neighbor near Grace house and he is apparently incorrect in that assesment. This guy is ready to go out hunting for victims.

In California, they don't routinely release predatory sex offenders even after they have served their intitial sentence. Any sexual contact with a child under the age of 14 years, is considered to be a violent crime and the perpetrator is classified as a Sexually Violent Predator.
Currently, there are more than 5,500 such persons who have completed their sentences and were then civilly committed for further observation and treatment. It's almost impossible to be released thereafter.
So, this man, whose age is irrelevant to the crime that he committed, would very likely be civilly committed to the facility used in California for this purpose. I don't know what state Erie County is located in, just that apparently they don't have such a program.
It's also true that one need not be sexually capable to molest a child. The workings of an evil mind will always find a way. People such as this should never be released since they are known to be incurable. At 100 years of age, that won't be all that long in any case.
The link below explains the California program at page 37.

Thanks. I wondered where it was and whether they had a program. In any case, he wouldn't be getting out over here. They have quit letting them out. There was a show on Satellife TV a while back outlining the terms and conditions upon which they are held. It would nearly take an act of Congress to get released from post-sentence civil confinement for a violent sex offender.
As the link cited mentions, any conviction for acts of child molestation of more than one child under the age of 14 will qualify an offender for VSP status and ultimately, civil confinement.

As soon as I read about this man I thought of civil commitment but wasn't sure all states had it. I know in Florida we have the Jimmy Ryce Act and someone like this man, who is still a threat to society would be placed in a mental ward after his prison sentence was over.
He wasn't even convicted till he was 90. I doubt he 'just' started at that age and who knows how many decades he got away with molesting children. He's still dangerous at 100 and shouldn't be allowed into society. IMO
