This guy was on his way to the unit where I used to work. This unit is the hub for all inmates/patients in the State of Texas with infectious diseases, namely HIV, TB and Hep. C. When I worked there, it was state of the art for HIV treatment with inmates getting the HIV "cocktail" (before the general public did as medical was not a prison entity but UTMB (University of Texas Medical Branch)) that has proved to give patients many, many more years of life. (After we started that cocktail, we were actually *removing* patients from their hospice beds as they were no longer terminal.) I saw in the news that he was on his way to that unit for a health problem. Those are the only ones we "specialized" in. I wonder if he's running around infectious now, too. Not that it would be a surprise anyway. He's not getting his meds that we're paying for while he's on the run, if that's the case. Boo Hoo.

This article http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/12/02/texas.escaped.prisoner/ states About 45 minutes into the trip, as they were driving through Conroe, 40 minutes north of Houston, the prisoner pulled out a pistol and ordered the guards to drive south to Baytown, east of Houston. it makes it sound like he already had the pistol on him. :confused:

Yes! It is awesome! And it is great that no one helped him! After so many people have been arrested/linked to helping out Maurice Clemmons ~ I was worried.

I wonder if the man who recognized him and called the cops gets the reward money! He deserves it!
