I am not sure what to make of this.
But nothing could have prepared him for being told his dad was... serial killer CHARLES MANSON.

Thats one thing we are not allowed to do is pick our realitives....the important thing is not to let that be the deciding factor in having a well ajusted happy life.

He had children through marriages before the ranch I thought. I wanted to get my facts before I posted and came across this kind of interesting article about the children, and a video (that is also on utube) of a documentary about one of the sons from the ranch. Look at one of the kids names on the list and the name of one of the commenters, then look at the name of who this story is about, the state where they were born is the same.

This story just broke on HLN.
What I dont understand is why the FBI are now involved.
Any ideas?

Thanks for the link. I had forgotten he was married once, much less twice. I always felt so sorry for the children. I think this man is very brave to say it publically. What a ghastly thing to know. It sounds like he had good and wise parents that raised him.
I don't disagree with his Father that no good could come of him writing manson. On the other hand since he wanted to know who his biological parents were he had as much a right to know that as any other human being born alive. As difficult a choice as that was maybe the confusion would have been the worse choice. It was his choice to make. I will keep him in my prayers along with the other children.
I agree. At least he now knows the truth, even if the truth is as shocking as this.

If I had found that out, I certainly would not be broadcasting it to the world.

A good point. He sure looks like Charlie Manson, though. There are probably a few more of Charlie's children out there somewhere.
I wonder why he waited so long to reveal this. Maybe I missed that point. Anyway, as you point out, I sure wouldn't want anyone to know. That fact of his parentage isn't going to help his career.

I am a criminal justice student, and just recently had to present a paper on the Tate/LaBianca murders. In the research I had done, I scraped up some personal info on Charlie Manson. He actually has 2 children, a boy and a girl if I remember right. They have 2 separate mothers, who were married to Charles before the murders of Sharon Tate and her friends. His second wife divorced him shortly before he left for San Francisco, which would have been before he went to Spahn Ranch.
I feel bad for his children, because I'm sure they weren't raised to know who he was to them, or that they came from such evil, but I know it has been said before that you are who you are, not what others think you should be. They don't have to be like him, and thank god they're not. I wish them both well, and hope that they have had more positive influences in their lives to know they don't have to be the apples falling next to that tree.

No one really knows how many children Charlie Manson is responsible for. When he was at the Spahn Ranch, it's rumored that several babies dies and were buried there.
If you have Charlie for a father, you've got three strikes against you from the outset.
Manson is a devil. I lived about 4 miles from the Polanski/Tate residence in that period and it scared me to death when I read the newspaper.

Well, if you're wishing the best for the two children he had prior to incarceration - only wish one well, as only one is alive. Charles Manson, Jr. committed suicide in 1993 at 38.

But I agree with gnm - there is no telling how many children he had... considering his fondness for "free love" ~ (don't know how to put that delicately, but I am sure you get my drift?)... There were a lot of people who defected from the Spahn Ranch when they realized the dangers -- I can picture an impregnated, scared {possibly underage} girl fleeing and keeping the baby a secret..

Can still wish 2 well - there is the son Matthew Roberts noted in the OP article. No mention of a daughter in your link, though. I wonder if he has one?
