Last night there was some discussion about Brad being on Oprah today, and whether she would be showing video clips of him or is he was actually going to be ON the show.

WTVD said on the 11:00 news last night that (paraphrasing) "Oprah would cover human trafficking on Friday's show and Brad Lockhart, Shaniya Davis' father, will be a guest."

Didn't say if he would be in the studio or a video feed, but it sounds like she will be speaking to him and not just showing video clips.

Morning all. All's I can say is WOW! I watched the live presser last night, and once again, not much sleep. The picture of Shaniya being taken to her death is really haunting me.

I still have a lot of questions about why this happened. Morally. I'm not buying that a drug addict will sell her daughter for a fix.

I didn't sleep much last night thinking about this case. Now these are only my opinions but I believe the mother had been using Shaniya for a while. Based on what Coe said about never in the living room. I'm not so sure he was talking only about sleeping. Maybe Shaniya was the new paycheck for AD and that is why she decided to keep her. She would have to take her out of school because surely someone at school would have been able to recognize a change in Shaniya.

One other thing that I remember from way back - don't have the link. Brad said that he used to have to "beg" (my word can't remember his) AD to have contact with Shaniya. I think that was a while back. I think since then Shaniya would visit but that was just little visits on the weekends here and there. Then all of the sudden this woman has decided to have so much interest in the child that she refuses to give her back.

I don't think AD was selling her daughter in the past but when she was able to get Shaniya and found her to be profitable she decided she was going to keep her.

I would really like to know exactly what Coe knows.

I want these creatures to be just as afraid as their victims were. I want them to tremble everyday they wake up. I want them to know the kinda fear and trauma their victims felt. Every time they round a corner or walk a long hall I want them to shake to their rotten core. I want them to lie awake at night fearing for their own lousy lives.
They have no feelings or remorse for their victims only for themselves so I don't worry about them lying awake regretting what they have done I want them lying awake at night too scared to close their eyes.

I wonder if Shaniya was ever checked out by a doctor "that way". My grand daughter had a really bad yeast infection caused by antibiotics and scratched herself until she bled. Doctor checked her and she didn't "damage" herself. Just food for thought, and hope I'm not out of line.

Yep, that elevator picture is absolutely horrible. I notice last night LE still claims she was taken out alive from the hotel. I listened carefully for that information and hope I got it right. Couldn't watch the presser twice in one evening. Is the presser anywhere on the links thread? TIA.

I know what you mean. I don't even think I've read anything that indicates the mom actually WANTED to keep Shaniya, just that dad wanted her to be a mom to Shaniya.

There was a reference to the aunt saying mom was upset with her about punishing Shaniya for fighting with her cousins, and mom told her she'd never see Shaniya again. Wonder what the punichment was?

I hate to say it because I know I'll get raked over the coals, but I don't trust with side of the family at this point. I don't think Brad's side holds any responsibility for the actual disappearance and murder, but I think they're more going on with them than we know.

Prison justice for child rapists is a dead issue.

I haven't had a chance to catch up yet but I had a thought last night watching NG's video of McNeil with Shaniya at the hotel.

I think that was video of him LEAVING not entering. What does everyone think?

The link that was posted yesterday (i'll have to go back and find it) from WS had pics and descriptions of where the elevator areas were carpeted.

If he was on say the 3rd floor, the video showed him walking TO the elevator. It appeared to me that he could have just LEFT and room and was carrying her to the elevator to LEAVE.

Any thoughts on this and if this has been discussed here this morning then I apologize.

With as many people being sent to prisons for raping or murdering a child that group of pond scum has got to be growing by leaps and bounds. It wouldn't surprise me if these type of goons get up their own gang in prison.

So I would much rather see him stagnate and rot day in and day out on death row locked up for 23 hours a day and when out for one hour he will be brought out in a caged in area where he can do whatever.

Last night was the first time since the Jonbenet Ramsey case that I have ever had a vivid dream. Won't tell you about the dream but suffice it to say that it was very disturbing. :(
I woke up and just turned on the TV - don't even know what channel but no news until I fell asleep again. Thank goodness did not have another dream.

I think seeing that picture of Shaniya and knowing she was murdered shortly after it was taken brought us all so close to this crime and is haunting us. It is leaving us with a helpless feeling.

I beleive they put him in the vicinity and he no choice but to talk. the searcher said he heard over the police radio that mcneil told the police where to find the body. near deer carcuses and trash. he said thats when he remembered the horrible smell by the carcuses he saw earlier and they went back for another look and found her. jmo

If AD had a drug debt why would mcneil take the girl and explain it. did he plan to kill her from day one? people would be looking for her sooner or later. If he was going to rape her and return her he could of gotten a nasty motel on the murch. that part of town people probally wouldnt have said anything. another thing is shaiya was 5 she could definetley tell someone what was happening to her. LE said they received a tip from a reliable source. Guess GPS would be considered a source. This car was old though which means it was probably an external GPS. Wouldn't they have needed a code to track it? I don't think it was the GPS. However, the history of the movements stored by the GPS will give them more info. Jmo

If we are to believe the charges against the mom (trafficking) they did not arise from the morning she was taken.

Shaniya was likely abused over time and if she had been being abused for a while, that would be the reason why McNeill knew she would not scream and sadly she was use the the abuse and did not scream..

Makes absolutely no sense that LE can get a trafficking charge from the one instance of her being kidnapped. IMO the abuse had to have been ongoing at least during October and perhaps longer.

It doesn't appear that any of Brad's kids live with him, perhaps he was anxious to get Shaniya back with her mom and he could be a weekend/vacation dad. Having responsiblity for a 5 yr old and having a job that entails a lot of travel may have been too much. Maybe Aunt Carey and the others who watched Shaniya when Brad was out of town were starting to give him a hard time or perhaps he felt it wasn't their (the Aunt and the others) responsibility to raise her it was her mother's. He may have pressuring AD to step up and take an interest in her daughter.

I guess I don't understand your post. If the mother gave or sold her daughter to McNeil for the purpose of sexual service than what else would they need to charge her? If that is what happened.

I was reading the search warrant and the evidence seized (from his car) and it says "photographs". Do you think he also took pictures?

The way I read it, the police "took" photographs of the car, not that they seized photographs from within the car. It said "photographs of the exterior and interior and individual items fro inside the vehicle". I'm taking that to mean they took pictures of each item before they removed it, in order to show that it was actually in the car.

It doesn't appear that any of Brad's kids live with him, perhaps he was anxious to get Shaniya back with her mom and he could be a weekend/vacation dad. Having responsiblity for a 5 yr old and having a job that entails a lot of travel may have been too much. Maybe Aunt Carey and the others who watched Shaniya when Brad was out of town were starting to give him a hard time or perhaps he felt it wasn't their (the Aunt and the others) responsibility to raise her it was her mother's. He may have pressuring AD to step up and take an interest in her daughter.

For example, they took a picture of the GPS and where they found it, then removed it from the car. IMO one time selling a child is enough. No evidence this was ongoing - not saying it wasnt; but we don't know that.

I need to see some evidence against the mom -- right now it is just police theory obviously based on what McNeill told them. JMHO

i have trouble with this. It makes no sense for him to tell them that it was AD who sold the baby for the purposes of prostitution.

That would hang HIM with a trafficking charge to. it goes both ways. It would also mean he knowingly delivered her to be abused or took her to abuse. Just one charge of kidnapping and LE said he was being very uncooperative, no way did was the charge derived from what mcneil said.

I repeat, if he knew that it was for selling the child for prostitution and he told LE he would also have other charges on him for admitting that. MM is no idiot, he knows the court system and plea system and he also knows Shaniya was dead and assaulted.

His best chance was to stay totally silent and hope the body wasn't found unless he was offered a plea of lwop if he tells them where she is.

I don't believe Antoinette was arrested just on his word, had to be more, be it computer info..perhaps chats with someone to meet at the hotel (and that person would be using anonymous ip's, encrypted software etc so almost certainly not found that way) or she told Brenda or a friend who came forward

I just watched the PC from 11/12/09. The one where they hand out the information to everyone about McNeil going in the hotel with Shaniya. Last night there was some discussion about Brad being on Oprah today, and whether she would be showing video clips of him or is he was actually going to be ON the show.

WTVD said on the 11:00 news last night that (paraphrasing) "Oprah would cover human trafficking on Friday's show and Brad Lockhart, Shaniya Davis' father, will be a guest."

Didn't say if he would be in the studio or a video feed, but it sounds like she will be speaking to him and not just showing video clips.

So far this is the only article I've found online about Oprah. The blogger doesn't link a news outlet, so I'm not sure where she got this info.

The fight with the cousins might be an issue also. If Shaniya was not getting along with the other children (I guess they are Aunt Carey's kids), was it on a single occasion or was it becoming a problem within the Aunt's home? Maybe Aunt Carey had words with AD, suggesting that it was time for her to step up and take over the bulk of caring for Shaniya when Brad was away. I thought it was Brad who may have pressured AD, but it seems Aunt Carey and other family members taxied Shaniya back and forth to her mom's. Brad may have provided monetary support and attention when he was home but as in most cases women ended up with the day to day work of raising her. Brad is supposed to be on Oprah today, maybe she will get some info from him

Not to bo contrary~~but I pay cash all the time at motels. Stayed at the drury about three weeks ago, cash...and no identification was needed because they never asked. I could have signed in as mickey mouse i suppose. Other times I call and reserve a room with CC, then pay cash.....but they never get my credit card and I don't remember ever giving them a license or anything.

She had 3 kids of her own and adding a forth w/o a husband around must have been difficult. She does seem to be the one who's most distraught.

Yes it really does. something about the aunt really bothered me. maybe she was struggling and really couldnt handle a 5 year old. these situations do happen alot. especially with single soldiers too. jmo is ty the fiance that they mention? is she back now?

I went back and listened to the aunt's portion of one of their press conferences. She goes on and on about how she and Shaniya shared a bond "beyond mother to child", Shaniya "filled her soul to places few dwell", they shared a bond beyond what anybody else could understand". Now, aside from being overly poetic, that seems a bit over the top for me. I mean, she has children of her own. So what made her bond with Shaniya "beyond" the one she had with her own children? Seems strange she wouldn't just say something like I loved Shaniya as much as I love my own.

Anyway, she later says something about if you see a child in trouble, "don't turn you back".

What does all this mean?????????

Was this the longest continuous stretch of time Shaniya had been with AD? If so Brad should have been out to check out the living conditions at the trailer and been in NC to make spot checks on her. Especially with no formal custody arrangement, leaving her there and then going out of town wasn't a good idea. WIthout some court decree outlining who had authority over the child, Shaniya was in limbo. Carey couldn't demand her return and Brad couldn't do anything either, especially from out of town.

A memorial trust fund has been set up at Wachovia bank in memory of Shaniya. It was done by family friend Vaughn Eason.

Eason said the family of Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, had no insurance for the girl and any money raised would help cover the cost of her funeral and burial services.

"Any money left over after that will go to local and national charities for neglected children," Eason said.

I agree ! I also think, and we talked about it earlier, that Shaniya's half brother could have shed light into what was actually happening in that place. A child that age wouldn't even know the significants of what he was telling LE.

ITA Wasn't there a camera facing the MH? If so it is very likely that there is footage of the mother handing the child over to this man. That would contradict the story of the "child leaving without her shoes on her own from the sofa at 5:30 am/pm" paraphrasing. I say don't underestimate the powers of a good detective questioning a person who is not a seasoned criminal. If this woman is presented with video footage of her handing over her child her story crumbles. I think she caved. I think she confessed.

I know there is much desire today to hammer this father . I think he will give himself enough hammering. Bryon said Shaniya was a Daddy's girl. I think Daddy will have a difficult time rising above this to live the rest of his life.

You are fortunate. None of the funeral homes around here do that anymore. They want full payment at time of burial or they will wait about 10 days at the most.

I paid for my father's funeral upfront in 2002 and then when the Estate was settled reimbursement was paid back to me because he specifically included in his Will that all funeral expenses would be paid by the Estate.

I am sure that Brad will see to it that she is put away with respect and dignity even if he does not have life insurance on her.

I did hear him mention he would like to set up a trust fund in her name to help children who are from splintered homes or something like that.

I definitely think it was ongoing, that is the only way I can see LE supporting the trafficking claim. I do not see how their investigation could get human trafficking from the one day in question she went missing. How would they know intent? Had to be ongoing IMO
