A Winter Garden couple and their son were terrorized for two days by four people who kidnapped them at gunpoint, forced the woman to withdraw nearly $24,000 from the bank and shot her as she tried to escape, police said Wednesday.
This is beyond frightening. Gated community. :cursing:

Those guys are really evil looking - can't wait to see what the woman looks like, when they find her. SO glad this family lived thru this. I always wondered about gated communities: seems like they advertise "come and hit us: we got stuff!" while the security is actually minimal.

Article seems to indicate not random. I wonder if they might have done landscaping work for the victims.

Or perhaps a housekeeper knew the men and told them they had money?

Orlando is becoming a terrible hot-bed of violent crime. Granted, we're talking about a county with a 1M population, but the daily booking photos in the Orlando Sentinel are really scary. It's a magnet city for illegals.
I also agree with the premise that this family was targeted...if that's any consolation to their neighbors. Could mass firings of housekeepers and landscapers be far behind?

In the call, you can clearly hear the panic in the voice of the neighbor of Marcela Borges as she fears for both of their lives while waiting for the police to arrive.
Listen: 911 call from Winter Garden home invasion
(audio at link - some of it redacted by police, it's quite long, listen through the blank areas)
... Three of the suspects have been caught. Police are searching for a fourth, and say they know her identity.

Crime here has indeed escalated in the past few years, although I have to say I feel a lot safer here than I did when I lived in Nashville and Memphis. Just a matter of perception, I guess, since i'm sure the numbers here are much worse.

Its scary IMO what is happening to some of our states. Phoenix, Arizona is know as the kidnap capital of the US due to drug trakkicking related crime. Second only to Mecixo City.
