For the longest time, I felt that Cindy was the one to author the JBP version. However, over time I've started to have just a sliver of a doubt, and that a small portion of those jail videos might have been redacted before provided to the media/public (due to ongoing investigation about what was said). And Walsh (an attorney for Casey way back in July 2008) also made reference to a 2nd person being involved in the kidnapping prior to Casey getting out on bond. Did Cindy tell this JBP version to the attorneys or did they tell it to Cindy?

I can easily see Baez relaying this JBP version to Cindy very early on, in an effort to help his client (not sure if "help" is the right word here). Lots go on behind the scenes that I sometimes fail to think about.

desmom, thanks so much for this link to Casey's phone calls. I have always though it extremely odd that George made only two phone calls to Casey from his cell phone during the 31 day period. One being on June 16, and the other on July 8. (hmmm, could the july 8th date be important in some way?) Did LE ever confirm just "when" the Anthonys received notice of the certified letter informing them about the impounded car?

BBM - I have always had the feeling part of the video visitations had been removed also. I have nothing to back it up...just a feeling.

We have seen numerous statements by the family that contradicts what they had said in previous interviews. It is hard to wade through all of their statements and try to determine what is the truth and what is a 'mis-truth'.

Didn't the State Attorney request a transcript of George's GJ testimony because of discrepancies in his deposition and his GJ testimony? We are not the only ones that have noticed the contradictions by the family.

This has bothered me too ... isn't this illegal? And if Baez was reading emails from them and KC was dictating emails to them, isn't that illegal too?
Probably what bothers me most about Casey getting information from the "outside" is the form of these ... Casey saying Jose had showed her some of the news including Nancy Grace seems to be a direct violation of jail policies.. I guess the whole issue of Baez being able to bring his laptop to visit with Casey bugs me big time !! :sneaky:

Not only did the State request it, Judge Strickland approved their motion to release a transcript of George's GJ testimony to them.

I'm slowly re-reading George's State Depo, and this time my focus is more on the questions that were asked of George. I keep getting sidetracked because George's answers are so very different than he's said in the past. .....I do believe that when George takes the stand, he'll be labeled a hostile witness. No doubt in my mind.

The July 8th phone call from George was at 9:00 a.m. Because the call was 5 minutes long, I will take a wild guess and say George did talk to Casey that morning.

July 8, 2008 was a Tuesday. Cindy's first day back to work from her vacation was on Monday, July 7. Cindy would not have been able to over hear or add to the conversation because she would have been at work at the time George placed the call.

Amy stopped at 7-11 and filled up her car, so Casey would have a full tank of gas while Amy was out of town. I sure hope we get to see the soil evidence this week. I'm dying to see if there were any comparisons between soil/sand from the A's backyard and the dump site ... in the autopsy report, IIRC, it was noted there was sand and silt on the bones ...

There are 3 letters in our mail today addressed to our 18 year old daughter. All the letters are from colleges advertising their programs. All the letters have her name in the "Dear .....". Those type of letters have been showing up in our mailbox for the last 2 years. Colleges send out mass mailings to every junior and senior in high school around here.

Did Casey pass off the same type of letters to George and Cindy as "look these colleges are interested in me" and they bought it? I vote yes.

jeez, Im no legal eagle, maybe Kat can weigh in. But as the opinions are being expressed about this, I too, wonder about the legalities of this, esp when she was in jail.

what nags at me more is dinner at the Ritz, he had NO business being there.....Casey is Baez's client, yet here he is 'stopping by' at the Ritz, sitting there with a media rep, 2 PI's and the anthony entourage. to me, that STINKS like 3 day old crab puffs....

Here is an interesting opinion. Guess we all should pray for lots and lots of patience from Judge Strickland, lest he get tired of the defense's shady tactics and rule hastily and without thought.

Can it be called an effective defensive strategy? Absolutely, but can it be also called a conspiracy to obstruct justice?

Cindy's no mention of Zanny and George writing "by a person named Zany" gives me the impression neither one of them was aware Caylee had a nanny named Zanny until July 15 when Casey blah, blah, blahed.

In George's state depo, he said he remembered seeing different letters from colleges that were interested in Casey.

There are 3 letters in our mail today addressed to our 18 year old daughter. All the letters are from colleges advertising their programs. All the letters have her name in the "Dear .....". Those type of letters have been showing up in our mailbox for the last 2 years. Colleges send out mass mailings to every junior and senior in high school around here.

Did Casey pass off the same type of letters to George and Cindy as "look these colleges are interested in me" and they bought it? I vote yes.

I get them for credit cards (Dear Spots, You have been approved ......), for charities (Dear Spots, Don't you feel bad about ........), even magazines (Dear Spots, Your subscription to ___ is about to expire.........) and games (Dear Spots, You may already have won ......).

I find it no stretch at all to think that colleges buy mailing lists from schools and send out mass-mailing letters that have been personalized.

On page 204, he indicated that when the concrete pad was poured that both Cindy and he were off work that week. That would have been during that first week of July.

Then on page 295, George states: Andrews International. I started with them, as a matter of fact, on June 30th. I think I accepted the position on June 30th. I think my first date was, like, July 1st or 2nd, something like that with them. (mostly first shift or day shift)

Probably what bothers me most about Casey getting information from the "outside" is the form of these ... Casey saying Jose had showed her some of the news including Nancy Grace seems to be a direct violation of jail policies.. a. they accused LE of LYING to the public about her employment
b. they accused LE of leaving the car at their house for 3 days - it was less than 24 hours
c. LE told Cindy that they KNEW Casey never left the area, yet Lee goes out and conducts a sidewalk interview IN AUGUST, stating Casey was ON VACATION and she DID WORK FOR UNIVERSAL, well a subcontracted company who he couldnt name....gawd

Yeah I can't believe he'd go down with this crew but I can't get over the fact that he's been under pressure for a really long time and they're still having to drag him into the depo. Any hope I had died when he and his attorney lied to Rodriguez. But I'd love to be wrong!

I'm not so sure, I don't think he wants to turn on them at all ... IMO he's fought this depo because of HIS actions and things HE did and he's already lied on the stand in the civil case and been dishonest about who he was working for and when and he's contradicted himself in sworn statements...
I just think he's run out of options and prior to the state depo, IMO, would be a good time for the state to lay it out for him, the kind of trouble he's in and offer him immunity for his testimony ...

As a prelude to the approaching trial of Casey Anthony, Baez told News 13 that with her, and with all of his clients, if the state wants to convict his clients, they will have to work harder than they ever have before.
My general strategy is the opposite. If I can't convince the other side that their case is so bad that they should simply drop it or resolve it on favorable terms, then I would like them to believe they really don't need to put much effort into preparing their case against my client (while I work my azz off preparing MY case) and that they should really focus their time and efforts on their more difficult cases. I would much rather face an ill-prepared adversary.

I'm not so sure, I don't think he wants to turn on them at all ... IMO he's fought this depo because of HIS actions and things HE did and he's already lied on the stand in the civil case and been dishonest about who he was working for and when and he's contradicted himself in sworn statements...
I just think he's run out of options and prior to the state depo, IMO, would be a good time for the state to lay it out for him, the kind of trouble he's in and offer him immunity for his testimony ...

Like I said, it's plausible ... is it true? Who knows ... he may just decide to do the depo and refused to answer certain questions, which would buy him some more time until the State gets the court to force him to ...

I believe Dominic Casey is caught between a rock (cynthia) and a hard place (being truthful.) He will fall on the side of telling the truth and retaining his investigative license, imo.

The reason cynthia and george are not being charged is that the State is more interested in the big fish here, which is the babykiller. cynthia and george will help to convict her, imo.

If they make the huge blunder of lying on the stand under oath, then I believe we will see perjury charges filed.

We will never see obstruction or tampering with evidence charges against the anthonys because I do not think the State could prove that beyond a reasonable doubt in a trial. The defense would be they were grieving grandparents and acted out of ignorance, imo. A jury could be sympathetic.

His first two interviews, when i go back and read them, I actually feel sorry for him. It was so hard for him to talk about the smell, her non-employment, etc. My heart broke for him back then, he was the only one in that house trying to be truthful at the time. Then I truly believe that Cindy got to him. I believe that she is an abuser. I believe George is mentally abused by that woman. Do I feel sorry for him now? No, he should be able to weigh whats more important, his grandaughter or Cindella de Vil. He sold Caylee out for his evil wife. I truly believe Cindy is the route of all evil in that family. In no way do I excuse what Casey did because of how her mother was, just thinking that Casey is who she is because of Cindy.

I think that's a correct reading of George. Even if he was attempting to honest at first, he gave it up pretty quickly because of the consequences. If you've built your whole life on various family lies and mistruths, you risk the whole house of cards crumbling once someone actually starts telling the truth. It's like pulling one brick out of a rotting structure that has always looked okay from the outside. And I bet there are just too many Anthony secrets and lies that no one in that family wants to see the light of day.

I have a neighbor who is so much like George that I swear it's uncanny. In the almost thirty years I've known him I can't tell you how many jobs he's had, and he always seems to be embroiled in one workplace accident or another, collecting worker's compensation and being "laid up". He almost single handedly broke the post office with all his 'accidents'. A simple fender-bender that most of us would almost ignore sent him into spasms of whiplash and a long drawn-out case looking for an insurance settlement. He's lived these past years like that, always on the dole, and if he tripped on a curb he would say he fell into an eight foot hole.

I meant to comment on it, but got swept up in the choloroform discussion. It was very very close to Caylee's body - if not right under it, right beside it. I think I remember reading that they were trying to analyze whether it was from an older timeframe than when Caylee was there and I think they were thinking it was unrelated but I don't think the results of the analysis were there. I'm pretty sure it must be unrelated, there is no way that it wouldn't have come up by now if there was any hint of evidence whatsoever that a gunshot was even a possibility.
