LOL, and despite being married to a Mexican-American woman with whom he fathered two daughters. That's why it's ludicrous when the pro illegal immigration crowd label Lou Dobbs a bigot/racist/monster.

Well, if he is against illegal immigration, he gets my vote.

This story is weird. It sounds like he's saying he resigned - why are people acting like he's been kicked out? I know there has been pressure - but I haven't seen anything indicating CNN was bowing to it.
I'm very much anti-illegal myself - and I know I've often agreed with him, when I've read some commentary from him.
I've heard he had issues with going over the line, becoming anti-Hispanic rather than anti-illegal, or making bigoted statements - I haven't really read anything solid to back that up - nor have I looked for it - so I can't say it's there nor that it's not there.

His wife is a Mexican/American...really dont think he is anti hispanic.
From what I read, he quit.

He has had death threats and this.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,570296,00.html
I find this to be the most profound part of his statement, following the shots fired incident.
Dobbs, who claimed the "national liberal media" has in part created a hostile environment regarding immigration, said enduring such incidents has become a "way of life" for him.
"It's become a way of life — the anger, the hate, the vitriol — but it's taken a different tone where they've threatened my wife," he said Monday. "They've now fired a shot at my house while my wife was standing next to the car.
"It's become something else. And if anybody thinks we're not engaged in a battle for the soul of this country right now, you're sorely mistaken."
In recalling his statement on CNN tonight, it sounded as though he might enter politics (perhaps vying for a congressional seat) if not move to a network like FNC that isn't beholden to the WH, where "Mr Independent" can freely express his opinions.
Can you imagine the media outrage if an outspoken, liberal, pro-immigration TV personality and his family would have nearly been shot? The words RW extremist would have been bandied about and Janet Napolitano might have issued a directive too.
IMO

We used to watch him all the time when he did his Business Show on CNN, then about 4 years ago, he changed his format leading up to the 2006 election and night after night it was about Mexico, and immigration, and more recently in last year: more and more of the Libertarian views, which he admits he sort of like, but Independent, and started billing his show as Independent, sort of like Beck does, who says he's leans Libertarian.... and he started repeating some of the Rush and Beck and Fox news, and reporting as fact..... and got lot of flack for it, he actually went pro birthers about 4 or 5 months ago, questioning the birth certificate etc. IMHO

From what I read, he quit.I had a coworker once who tried to join the KKK. She really didn't like those lazy dirty Hispanic people (her words). They rejected her.
Her mother was Hispanic. She was visibly Hispanic, with a medium strength Mexican accent (nothing to make her hard to understand, but just some different inflections).
She was really weird.
Odd story - but just to say - I don't make any assumptions about anyone. Many bigots will think that THEIR friend is the exception to the rule.
I'm not saying this about Dobbs - I've seen nothing from him that I'd find bigoted nor racist - I'm just saying a Mexican wife doesn't prove he's not racist.

Well, he and his wife raise horses, I've seen news reports and specials on him over the years. Well educated etc: read his bio in Wiki, but about 3 years ago it came out, illegals were working at their the ranch/horse/training place. IIRC, 60 mins. did an interview type thing with him.

No offense... but I hope not. I watch FoxNews and find Dobbs ~ just a tad dull. I like him well enough, but I can't watch him for long because he's just really boring, IMO. If he goes to FoxNews ~ I hope he gets the 2am-3am shift, so when I am unable to sleep -- he can lull me to sleep.
:tongueside:
Like I said - I like him.. just not my type of reporter.

Early next year, King will move into the 7 p.m. ET time slot that was previously held by longtime CNN anchor Lou Dobbs, who announced Wednesday that he was leaving the network.

You figured right.
At one time Dobbs was an INDEPENDENT but IMO, he has changed drastically.
I wouldn't be surprised if he moves to FOX.

Here's how and why he quit.
Congratulations to CNN for taking action and getting this guy removed for all the incendiary paranoid things he has done on his program.

I have had many legal hispanic people talk trash about the illegal hispanics. I dont see them as racists. Not illegals. All Hispanics. Like I said, she was weird. She talked about how she hated seeing her family living in Mexico. I think she thought that since she had half white blood, that's why she was better than they were. Definitely a racist.
