"Nov. 11 (Bloomberg) -- For the first time this year, more voters say they would support a Republican candidate for Congress next year instead of a Democrat, according to a Gallup poll. "

"Independent voters tipped the scales in favor of the Republicans. The poll found that Republicans led Democrats among independents 52 percent to 30 percent, according to the telephone survey of 894 registered voters conducted Nov. 5-8. "

I would think your title might be a little misleading if there were only 894 INDEPENDENTS polled. In other words "Republicans Leading Democrats in Gallup poll" might indicate people belonging to various parties were polled.

It isnt my title. It is the title from the article, which is what I thought we were supposed to use.

You misread the article:

Independent voters tipped the scales in favor of the Republicans. The poll found that Republicans led Democrats among independents 52 percent to 30 percent, according to the telephone survey of 894 registered voters conducted Nov. 5-8.

It does not say that they were only independents polled- just that independants in that catagory tipped the scales...

Among independants it is 52-30%---- for the entire poll is 48% to 44% in favor of repubs.

PS thank you for your kind PM.

I think there are a lot of rw 'independents' out there, not many are willing to claim the Republican party right now. It seems that quite a few are 'hiding' under some other name. It's a shame too, it used to be the 'Grand Old Party'.

Perhaps it's because the RINOs have tarnished the good name of the 'Grand Old Party'.

You could choose to be a bit more specific, if you wished to do so. Just because the source you are quoting is biased in it's own headline, you don't have to be.

I thought we were told not to alter the titles from a source? If that is incorrect, I will most certainly seek your approval before deciding what to title a thread.

I most certainly didnt realize "Bloomberg" is now considered a RW news source

"Poll shows trouble for Dodd"

"A Quinnipiac University survey released Thursday morning suggests that 54 percent of Connecticut voters disapprove of the job Dodd's doing as their senior U.S. senator, with 4 in 10 giving him a thumbs up. The 54 percent disapproval rating is up 5 points from September. The poll also indicates that by 53 percent to 39 percent, Connecticut voters don't think the five term Democrat deserves to be re-elected next year."
