View Full Version : The Climate Bill

This is a deeply strange story, ably picked apart by the smart conservative blogger Ed Morrissey. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) has been making the rounds today claiming that the climate bill includes a provision that — in the words of the Washington Examiner — “requires President Obama to act like Venezuelan strong man Hugo Chavez” and assume emergency powers if a “climate emergency” is declared by the EPA. The truth, from the legislation:
In the event that the Administrator or the National Academy of Sciences has concluded, in the most recent report submitted under section 705 or 706 respectively, that the United States will not achieve the necessary domestic greenhouse gas emissions reductions, or that global actions will not maintain safe global average surface temperature and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentration thresholds, the President shall, not later than July 1, 2015, and every 4 years thereafter, submit to Congress a plan identifying domestic and international actions that will achieve necessary additional greenhouse gas reductions, including any recommendations for legislative action.
And yet Vitter has the bizarre and fact-challenged version of this story up at his Website:

Yikes, I swear when I turn over to Hannity or Beck and some of their guests I keep hearing reference to Obama and Chavez and implications like that, are they all "sheep," or reading challenged. ITA, I kept wondering what Hannity was refering to, as there's little facts, he'll quote a web site or blogger and then use it as fact.
Maybe that's the entire right's plan lie, distort and try to wear everyone out trying to fact check them, or they think folks will give up and ignore them? It defies reason, defies belief. I got an email with all kids of distortions from a Republican friend today and she wanted my view on what it contained..... well, er, I had to clarify almost everything in it and be polite about it. She's in her 70s, so I have to be kinder. LOL.

A neighbor came up yesterday and said "Did you hear" and proceeded to tell me an outrageous lie he had heard about a supposed tax increase. I had to pull up the actual bill and read it to him. He immediately calmed down and then asked "How did they get an increase out of that?" I simply answered "They didn't. They just like to lie to get people worked up." "Then they use the anger to stir trouble".

I don't understand why they resort to lies, which can be proven, and why people believe them. No facts:confused:

Some people will believe ANYTHING that reinforces their negative opinions of Obama and the liberals and the Democrats. Or maybe they just can't handle the truth. Fox News is more than happy to help them out with that.
Never in the history of the USA has a so-called "news" channel participated in organizing protests against the government, against a President, never in our history, until 2009 and Fox News Channel.
What a disgraceful outfit they are, claiming to be "fair and balanced". No wonder David Vitter is mixed up about the facts.

It seems as though Chicago-style politics reigns supreme in the WH. Thank God for this informed, professional couple who is willing to speak out about this disaster Congress seeks to pass. That this regime seeks to silence them should concern each and every one of us.
Environmental Agency Warns 2 Staff Lawyers Over Video Criticizing Climate Policy
EXCERPT:
They have been told that if they do not edit the video to comply with the policy, they could face disciplinary action.
The video, titled “The Huge Mistake,” was produced and posted in September. But the agency did not issue its warning until The Washington Post published a widely cited opinion article by the couple on Oct. 31 that raised concerns, echoing those in the video, about cap-and-trade legislation that the Obama administration supports.

ITA, and a disgraceful one, given the high unemployment rate, dire economy, and the crippling budget deficit quadrupled by this regime. It is evidence that we are viewed as cash cows by the liberal elitists who are attempting to ram these bills through Congress which will have devastating effects for generations to come and which will challenge America's sovereignty.
