12-year-old booked with raping three younger boys

Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says a 12-year-old Caddo Parish boy is accused of raping three younger boys.

Chadwick says the 12-year-old has been booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center on three counts of aggravated rape, and is awaiting a hearing.

Chances are that if he has this type of behavior at this early age, he also was raped when young. They need to get the three younger boys in intensive counseling or we will be reading about their crimes in 5/10 years. It is a vicious cycle. And while the 12 year old needs to understand that what he did was horribly wrong, there is still a chance (at his young age) that he can be also treated and live a normal, good life. I hope LE doesn't just "throw him away." Prayers for all four of them.

OMG..those poor little boys...

I do not understand these things that children do to children. Withay..I'd hope you are right about the rehab and counseling. Today, it seems kids at 12 are not like the 12 year olds were when I was growing up..they were still playing with trucks and dolls, going to church youth groups, in the scouts, playing little league. 12 sounds Young..but from what I see from many MS kids is that at 12 so many of them are "toughened" in a sense. Frankly, I find some of them to be kids I wouldn't want to be around..nasty attitudes, mean, mouthy, and verbally abusive to each other and others.

There probably is an amount of truth that if a child is abused or raped that when not having the support and love and understanding and growth from it that they act out the same or in another violent way...I don't know but I wouldn't think it is a given. It's the circumstances. Rape, imo, is an acting out with anger..takes a person at their most vulnerable and is demeaning and damaging on purpose to the victims. This kid who did this may not have ever been raped..but he's angry.. and been exposed to violence in one way or another.

The obvious has already been stated. A 12 year old boy? Yeah. He's going to get jail time, counseling ect...but I want to know what ADULTS have been in his life. Those are the people that need to go to jail.

:cursing:

AT LEAST he was caught before he progressed on to be something much worse as Gentle Breeze was pointing out...Joseph Duncan.

(Speaking of J.D. we sure haven't heard anything in the news lately about him. Wonder how prison is suiting his internet needs?).

It is so scary. He is already a serial rapist at 12 years old and who knows other little boys may be too ashamed to come forward.

It is just so frightening. No one is safe........doesnt matter if they are males or females. Predators seem to be lurking everywhere and how do we even recognize them when they are so young and have such a baby face and fit in with kids their own age?

And I have read that so many of these serial rapists were never abused as children.

I hope JED is rotting.

While it is true that many serial rapists were never abused as children, most children who act out sexually were sexually abused. I don't have any links, just 25+ years experience in social services. The age that this boy is (12) is about the "breaking point" for him to have any possibility of living a normal productive life and to not go on to hurt other children. He will need (as will his victims) intensive counseling and strict supervision. And even then, he may be far too damaged to be fixed. I just pray that ALL of these children can be saved.

I agree with you.

As you are aware this scenario happens ALL THE TIME where children 11-12 years old are serial rapists. Only recently has it come into the public's knowledge because it's rarely made public. Usually it's dealt with behind closed doors.

I am not familiar with current policies in the foster care system, so perhaps someone knows...are foster parents advised if a child they accept into their home has been sexually abused? I also wonder how much, if any, psychological counseling is provided to children before being placed in a home...?

I was a foster mother a few years ago. I was informed (it was part of the child's record and paperwork that accompanied her) that she had been sexuallly abused by a relative. She was 4 years old at placement and was to be a long-term placement. The children that I had for a weekend or overnight, I was not informed of much - just maybe the reason they were out of the home (domestic violence usually). Maybe it depends on how long they are going to be in your care. If the child is going to be with you a while it only seems right that you would have all the pertinent info if you are going to be part of their recovery.

Most of the time they're informed if a child had been sexually abused, and therapy is added to the treatment plan. BUT once a child crosses over and becomes a perpetrator...IMO not usually...they're aren't many places to put them, and it's expensive. So IMO usually they are just moved from home to home like a shell game...like those Catholic priests that molested children! IMO

Maybe the 12 year old was an alter boy.

Just a thought.

Thank you (and thank you to EvilEyeBall too). This whole situation creates alot of concerns about the safety of all children in foster care. With such a shortage of homes, it's probably not feasible for one-on-one placements. These kids deserve better lives, but it's really hard for society to replace what should be a loving family of their own.
