One dead confirmed, 4 taken to hospital with one being critical, but all stabilized at this time. Police at the apt. complex with swat team and they have been alerted that he is in the apartment. One shot heard fired. No more news at the moment.

ITA. Church deacon in my state, NC, suddenly shoots and kills his 2 teen children, wife and himself. Everyone said the entire family was happy and loving. WHAT is going on? It's really too crazy.

He didn't know about the shootings.
He did have appts yesterday in Orlando, but not at RSH.
He does know some of the engineers there and is anxious to know the names of the victims.

They mention a brief quote from him - asked why he did it, he reportedly said, "They left me to rot" - he was fired 2 years ago, for performance. Sounds like he was running out of money and looking for someone to blame for where his life went wrong to me. Just a theory, of course.

Major kudos to the mom! You protect your children as much as you can, love them - but hold them accountable, especially once they're adults.

Iheard his MIL say (so take with a grain of salt) that he was in mental inst. for 6 months recently and that he had abused his wife and has a small child.

Sounds like mental issues to me with bad performance at work for reason of release.

JIt's just another workplace shooting - they've been going on forever, this is nothing more than another one. Coincidence that it's so close to the other - but this guy was fired, and he gave a quote that indicates that's why he did it.

There are always some sick people out there ready to blame others for their own faults, who will kill because they are denied something. When they lose their wife, they become spousal murderers, when they lose out at work, they become workplace shooters.

That's a long time to simmer and hold a grudge.
CNN reported that he filed for bankruptcy in May.

I wonder what set him off?

Like Jayne, I wonder if yesterday's attacks at Fort Hood struck him as a good idea?
Or, if he had already planned it, and yesterday's massacre had no effect on him.

It is interesting to me that in both of these cases the suspects are in custody. It seems to me that all of these killers end their rampages by turning their gun on themselves. I hope that investigators will be able to learn something about what motivates this senseless violence.
If only these killers could be stopped before they act.
No one ever seems to notice that something is not right, until it's too late. :(

Here is an article that talks about how he allegedly abused his ex-wife and son.. and how he went from working at an engineering firm to working at Subway. Supposedly 90k behind on bills..

His lawyer is claiming he's mentally ill.

I'm surprised to hear that Disney closed. They are not close to downtown at all. I'd say a good half-hour drive at least.
