No news yet? He looks like he'd be a sweet kid. Kinda reminds me a tad of my little feller. I hope he's found safe, and soon.
Missing Boy Found, Charged
(WSB Radio) -- Authorities in north Georgia plan to file criminal charges against a 14-year-old Gilmer County boy who left home early Wednesday morning and stayed gone for fourteen and a half hours.
Gilmer County Sheriff Stacey Richardson tells Channel 2 Action News "we're certainly thrilled that's he's home safe, that's the main thing. Now we've got to look at why he left." He added "we're going have to talk to him to find out what the situation was to cause him to do this, because he caused a pretty extensive search."
The parents of Josh Chastain may also have to reimburse the county for the cost of the search, which included dozens of deputies, a GBI K-9 unit and a Georgia State Patrol helicopter.
The legally blind teen was found around 8:30 Wednesday night by his older sister walking with his dog along a road about a mile from the family's Ellijay home.
His father, Chris Chastain, says "he's quiet, he's still not really talking. He's not really said anything, but he's OK."
According to family members, Josh Chastain suffers from depression.
Sheriff Richardson says the teenager faces juvenile runaway charges.

It is good he was found safe, but charging him?
I know searches cost money, but
there are many teens who leave home for many reasons,
and a teen who is 14 , legally blind, suffering from depression,
??
Perhaps, making sure he has counseling and maybe joins
the Explorer Scouts, go on searches for others.

This is ridiculous-getting charged. Seriously, I don't know what is coming of our legal system. Hardly any punishment for sex offenders, but a child who has a disability and difficulties is being charged? I want my tax dollars spent for better purposes than this. I understand the search cost money--but to tell you the truth-I am happy to pay for them when it found a boy who was in NEED! That's one of the things I expect from a police department--help those in need. The prosecutor is now doing more harm than good. Leaving now-I am sick to my stomach.

Totally agree with you ..... charges are ridiculous. They need to concentrate on getting this boy some help IMO, instead of bringing more money into the system. I'm just glad he was found safe.

I guess as an adult you can go missing, but not as a juvenile. Although, it is a shame about all the man-hours used in the search. I don't know a good answer to this one. If his dog was gone, too, they probably could have considered the chance of him being a runaway was likely. But, whatya gonna do?

Yes!!!!!!!!! Another one found safe:)!!
A major BOOOOO!!!!!! to the sheriff's department though. Isn't looking for missing people considered to be part of their job? You know, what they get PAID for? They didn't even find him, his sister did, as he was walking along-side the road, with his dog. Maybe they should fine him and give the money to his sister? GRRRRRR
Here's to Josh getting the help he needs to deal with his various issues and may he never feel the need to disappear again. (that's rootbeer, by the way:) ).

Exactly. Charge the kid? Like he's done this before? Or that he did it as a Prank?? The boy is depressed..according to a post/link above..so Get him the Help he needs..not charge him as a juvie. Maybe or indeed put him "into the system" but not as a criminal. Gheesh. If not that then..fine the parents (obviously the parents would have to pay any fines..not the kid) then they can't afford mental health care? I don't see that working either..besides it wasn't "planned"..this was the Sheriff's job to find a missing child.

Charges??? that is an outrage!!! How to teach any teen who runs away not to come home
Parents need to reimburse for the searches etc??? How to teach parents not to call LE unless they know for sure that it is an abduction or they kill themselves.
What it makes it worse is that this child was in danger. Any 1. blind and 2. depressed teenager who disappears from home with no resources is in great danger. My first thought is suicide somewhere the family won't have to find his body.
LE and prosecutors here are absolutely wrong and making idiots of themselves
IMO

I agree that the charges are ridiculous. Especially considering what this poor kid is dealing with and that he doesn't have a history of running away.
According to a local in Ellijay, most in the area weren't even aware this boy was missing:
