I did a quick search of missing persons in NE, since this is up North in Kansas.
I came across 2 missing toddlers:
Tamari Williams - age 3 when missing on 5/1/08 from Omaha possibly with his aunt.
George Wirth - age 2 when missing on 10/15/08 from Bellevue with his mother.
Both sound like family abductions though...so probably not who has been found - will keep searching...

ok, not finding much on missing small children in Kansas either...just these 2:
Jaquilla Scales - age 4 - missing 9/5/01
Jackie Hay - age 5 - missing 9/12/81
and neither of them had a missing mother reported.
There is a young hispanic girl missing, age 3, but it says she was abducted by her mom AND dad, and is suspsected to be in Mexico now. Only thing I could think of is if dad, killed them both.
*sigh* will keep searching...hitting Missouri next...

Well according to the earlier link, they have been identified as an adult female and a male child pre-autopsy. That suggests they are recent deaths.

Squeekie - duh on me!! I read this right when I read the other thread about a skull found, and I got some of my data confused!! SORRY! I was thinking they didn't know the gender of the child. ok.. my bad, time to refine my search! :blushing:

oh Bev no apologies! I know everyone in this section is always doing what they can to help find the missing, was just hoping to clarify. I'm doing some research too.
Here's a wiki link showing where the county is in the state.

I poked around the Charley Project website and NCMEC site and didn't find any matches that I thought were really good (I didn't make it through all the females at the Charley Project, though). I wonder if these two have even been reported missing. Or possibly the child may look smaller than he actually is because of malnurishment, disease, abuse, or neglect.

Maybe they were basing their gender id's on clothing? If the adult was wearing a dress and the child was wearing a suit, they would most likely be female and male, correct? Not saying that's what happened but just adding in a maybe. Although your theory is much more likely. However, if they are that "fresh," they should be able to get a drawing out there of what they looked like, at least approximately. Or maybe they already have an idea of who they might be? Questions...

What about that missing family of 4? I think that was in California though?

Riley County is about 150 miles from Independence MO.
I can't find for sure if this person is still missing, will have to search tonight, but I am taking it as she is. It would fit the description.

It looks like someone at the Help Find the Missing forum contacted the Riley County sheriff's office with that info. The poster says that they already have a postive ID but couldn't give her the names.

I just saw that comment, too - interesting, as reports from today still say "unidentified".
From yesterday:
"Autopsy results on the human remains found in Riley County Sunday afteroon could come as soon as Thursday."

Perhaps they just need formal confirmation...

Maybe they are waiting to contact family members before they go public. I can't imagine the shock of picking up the morning paper or logging on to a news website and seeing a story that your loved one is deceased.

RILEY COUNTY, Kansas - The Riley County Police Department says Tanya Maldonado, 18, and Juan Luis Maldonado, 15 months, are the two whose bodies were discovered partially buried near Ogden last week.
A hunter discovered the remains of the woman and small male child on Sunday, Oct. 25th. They were partially buried in a shallow grave near the 6300 block of South 32nd Street, just northeast of Ogden.
The suspect, police said Monday, is Luis Antonio Aguirre, 22. His last known address was in Ogden. He is being held in jail in Austin, Texas on $2.5 million bond. Police say an extradition hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, and they expect him to be in Kansas within one week, pending that hearing.
At this time police still have not released the victims’ causes of death, nor how long the remains were in the shallow grave.

This article says the girl and her baby are from the Chicago area, but don't give much more info.
The chief says the victims are 18-year-old Tanya Maldonado and her 15-month-old son Juan. Both were from the Chicago area.
