There was a very distinctive boot found with the body, embroidered flowers on it. Seems like someone would recognize the boot. I hope they are able to identify her soon.

Maybe the boot was onshore near where the body was? It doesn't seem like the bones of a foot/ankle/leg would be heavy enough to keep a boot like that weighed down but maybe the upper material would?

Hi Chica, That's odd, they were working last night
I have been googling remains found allegheny reservoir ny to find any news on this case. There are so many missing women in upstate NY, even downstate, I hope they come up with something soon. PA is close too and Canada ...so many possibilities.

"We feel very confident it was attached to the remains because some of the remains were in the boot. The boot had been there as long as the body. It was muddy, it was dirty. There wasn't much to report other than the size of the boot originally," says Acting Cattaraugus County Sheriff Timothy Whitcomb."

These are very distinctive-looking boots, I am sure someone will recognize them. Also, per this article, they are waiting for DNA test results, which they hope will lead them to the identity. They think the woman was most likely 30-40 years old.

A healed fracture in a rib? Could be any injury I suppose, but the first thought that came to mind is domestic violence.

NaMus says that this is a size 8 boot.
She was wearing bra, panties, and cut off jeans.
And the boots.

Not necessarily. I fractured a rib once by way of coughing so hard/long during a bout of pneumonia. I wonder if there's any way to determine whether Jane's rib and tibial fractures occurred at the same time - could be indicative of a fall. (Not that that would help ID her - who doesn't occasionally trip and fall?)
I didn't check out all the "missing" reports, but those winter boots make me think that Jane Doe went missing sometime in November-December-January-February (times when there is likely to be snow in the ground in Cattaraugus County). I just hope she gets ID'd soon - it breaks my heart to think that someone like this has been abandoned in the river for years. Surely there is someone out there missing Jane Doe.

Cut-off jeans were mentioned - does that mean shorts? Because shorts would mean she went missing before Nov/Dec. IMO, some women wear those Ugg-type boots with shorts, even in warmer weather. They are typically worn without socks...
