A terrible case is coming to justice. Finally.
In 1983, Jeanine Nicarico was taken from her Naperville IL home and raped, sodomized, beaten with a pipe. The final blow was so forceful that her head left an impression in frozen ground.
In 1985, 2 men, Rolando Cruz and Alejandro Hernandez, were sent to death row for 12 years, and then acquitted when DNA advancements showed they could not have committed the crime. A third accused, Steven Buckley, resulted in a hung jury.
This despite the prosecution having a confession by the real killer, Brian Dugan.
Seven overzealous LE officers and prosecutors had to endure their own trial in 1999, but of course were acquitted.
Currently in DuPage county, Brian Dugan is in the midst of a sentencing jury deliberation. Life or DP. Today the jurt decided he IS eligible for the death penalty. He is also serving 2 life sentences for killing another child and another woman. 3 murder victims, many rape victims.
