Although that DUI misdemeanor might be expunged, the events of that night will never be forgotten. I don't agree with people who hold that he was drunk, and that his apology should be accepted, "because people make mistakes." The fact that he was drunk, allowed for him to drop his public persona, and say things that allowed him to show who he really is, a loathsome anti-Semitic bigot. His tirade that night cost him his A-List career. To those who posted after the incident, and Mel's apology: He can apologize all that wants, but it does not change the fact that he's a hateful bigot. Mel is only sorry that he said what he said in public, that it was picked up by the media, and killed his career. It's analogous to Tom Cruise's apology to Brooke Shields. Scientology dogma does not allow for psychiatry, and psych meds. Being a true Scientologist, although Tom Cruise apolgized to Brooke Shields, it was as insincere as Mel's appology, and only for damage control. Mel Gibson is still an anti-Semite, and Tom Cruise as a top ranking Scientologist still believes that psychiatry and psychiatric medication are plagues to mankind. Both of their careers as A-Listers are dead. Since then Mel produced and directed his own film "Apacolypto," and Tom's underperforming 2 blockbusters and Q rating drop caused an end to his long time association with Parmount. The usual lucrative offers weren't coming in, so Tom had to produce "Valkyrie" so he could get a starring role. The film had a 75 million dollar budget, and only grossed 83 million domestically, a far cry from the 180-240 million dollar domestic grosses of the films he made before his fall. He is listed as producer of his next two starring projects, because he is unbankable for starring roles in major projects. Mel's next projects, are creating no buzz at all, and almost seem to reflect that they will have a non-wide release and be available on DVD within a few months of playing to half empty theaters for a week or so. I'm sure that it didn't help Mel's Q rating that a few weeks after the DUI tirade, "Family Values" Mel's divorce proceedings began, and before the divorce has be finalized that he has impregnated his Russian girlfriend. Then there's Mel's interview that infuriated the homsexuals of the world. Again, Mel said he was sorry. But, a bigot is a bigot. Neither of these two will be receiving paychecks in a high double digit multimillion dollar range, along with percentages of the grosses ever again.

What did happen to Tom Cruise's career? I am not a fan of the Mission Impossibe genre, Never saw those movies. I think Tom needs light comedy roles.
I agree about Gibson particularly in light of all the thrunder and lightening that went on about that religious movie he directed, that many thought was anti sematic. With 7 kids from the first wife and before the divorce is final he gets his girlfriend pregnant is bad PR. IMO

"Gibson's criminal record was cleared when the judge granted a routine motion expunging a pair of drunken driving convictions stemming from the Oscar-winner's 2006 arrest. Neither Gibson, 53, nor his attorney appeared before Judge Lawrence J. Mira, who granted the request during a 90-second hearing .

"He does not appear to be on any sort of probation or facing any similar charges. The request is granted," Mira said."

========================================

The judge read a routine statement into the court record, noting that Gibson's drunken driving convictions "are still valid for gun control purposes and for priors," meaning Gibson could face enhanced charges should he ever be arrested for DUI again.
