WOODSTOCK, Ont. — Oxford Community Police in southern Ontario have mobilized all their resources to search for a missing 13-year-old Woodstock girl.

Police issued an Amber Alert for Tiffany Carron on Friday night and said she might be in the company of a male teenager.

The alert ended early Saturday because, police say, Amber Alerts automatically expire after five hours.

Carron had been delivering newspapers at the time she vanished.

"We have information that she never finished her paper route, and her cart was located on a walkway," said Const. Laurie-Ann Maitland.

Maitland said police do not have any evidence indicating foul play, but added that Carron's parents told them it was out of character for their daughter to stay away from home without calling.

Police have brought in a canine unit to help search for the girl and Maitland said officers have been going door to door canvassing the area where Carron was last seen as well as interviewing anyone who saw or talked to her after school Friday.

NT,

It's a good question as to why this case was given Amber Alert status and Tori never was.

Hey Peter,

Good to see you back.

My guess is that they were highly criticized for not issuing the amber alert with Tori and they didn`t want to risk the same mistake twice.

Glad Tiffany is safe.

Tori's law

Snider commended police for erring on the side of caution.

"So what if it was issued and it comes out to be false. At least the child is safe, worse would be if it wasn't issued and then oh my gosh," she said.

"It also sends a message that crimes against children are intolerable and maybe that would stop somebody that was thinking about doing it, that police are going to do something about it right away."
