I already love my green bags. I was so impressed with the boxes on TV. That was chicken or potato salad in one of those containers, wasn't it? So they arrive and I'm reading the materials packed with them. Well it says to keep what you put in there dry! Huh? That is the instruction for green bags and I ways wipe the fruit and vegies and put them in my green bags very dry (wash when I take it out).
But I can't figure out how to dry my potato salad and I don't want to use them for fruit and vegies - I can see what I have in my green bags - but not the boxes. RIP-OFF imo

I love them and my crock pot has a black interior also.
Hint from personal experience: If you use a meat fork, stay away from the liner. Even if you accidentally poke a hole in the bag, it wipes right out.
I don't remember what they are called, but I bought those sonic ear things "as advertised on TV." It comes w/3 little buds in different sizes. Unfortunately, I haven't figured out which size I should be using. And the little wire that clips the little silver box to your ear doesn't really do a very good job. Kind of loose, no matter how I try to shape it, nor which ear I put it in.
Do they work? I wouldn't know--I haven't been able to get it to fit well enough to wear it.

Why don't those bags melt Des?
I have no idea. They feel very similar to the oven roasting bags.

Used these at sporting events where I had to work concessions.
Cut clean up time to almost nothing.
But as Betty C asked...what are they made of? I don't use them at home, I go with the "good 2-day soak sometimes" like bear.
They are made from a heat resistant nylon.
I assume because a slow cooker cooks at lower temps, it was easier to develop a bag that wouldnt melt?
When I cook a turkey or chicken, I take a brown paper bag, rub butter on the inside, making sure it is well coated, place the bird in the bag, staple it shut, and place in the oven at 350 till done. The butter melts from the bag, basting the bird as it cooks, while the bag helps to keep the bird moist.
Thank you Noah! I owe you a fabric sweeper, or 2.
You're welcome! Unless they've changed the way they make 'em, you should be able to get the bottom off.

"PledgeŽ Protection Plus+
Quickly and effectively removes pet hair from upholstered furniture
You love your pets but not the pet hair they leave behind. With sticky roller sheets, you can go through a lot of sheets. And vacuum cleaners are not designed to clean up messy pet hair. Fortunately, there's a fast and easy way.
Not for use on animals. Do not use wet or on wet surfaces. Do not use with any liquid. Do not wash or rinse rollers. Do not try to empty or disassemble disposable sweeper. Keep out of reach of children or pets."
Oops. It looks like they changed the way they make them, Noah. I went and looked at mine again and I don't see any way of getting into it that it won't tear up. That should be a sin, or at least s shame, to throw that away so easily...

Mine has 3 itty bitty "rivets" on each side and 1 itty bitty "rivet" on each end. Look and see if yours has those, ok?
Don't turn it over - you should be able to see them connecting the plastic top and blue bottom together.

Wasn't aware of this product. My crock is a good 2-day soak sometimes. Will try these...thanks.
bear
Sounds as if these are worth a try.
Here's a tip, though, for making pots and pans that have needed a two day soak to get them clean.
Sprinkle some automatic dishwasher powder on the bottom.
Then fill pot with hottest water available from your tap.
Mine will almost always come clean after an overnight soak using any old scrubby.

I''ve used green bags for proably 5 years, and can't live without them. They can be used 8-10 times, so last a long time.
Another prouduct I like and put on most my jewelery are those magnetic add ons for easiley putting on necklaces or bracelets.
Also love my ChopWhizzard: for dicing and chopping things for salads or soups. Put on veggie and push down the hinged top.
And of course the swiffer products are terrific.

Don't put all of the chicken salad in one...just a small spoonfull. Just enough to see if it works without wasting too much if it does not.

I love my Reynolds Handi Vac for food storage. Favorite cheese is only sold at Sams in big chunks. Keeps it fresh forever until the cheese is gone. The bags hold a seal/reseal very well.
Love to visit my aged Aunt and fill her freezer with little one serving foods. The seal lasts for months.
Tip: Don't use the other brand of bags. They don't old the seal well. Only use the Reynolds Handi Vac brand.

I work with a woman who always uses those when she makes cheese dip. So convenient!
As for those "green bags", I use cereal bags, per the recommendation of someone on this site a while back, and my produce really does last a lot longer.

Well, I threw the packaging away, and don't really recall the brand, just that I had seen such a product on TV. I must not have paid much attention to the ads, either, as I had no idea they weren't all the same brand.
Thanks. Now that I know that, I can look to see what brand it is, if I come across them again.

Are cereal bags a special product, or do you use the bag from the box after you eat all the corn flakes? I'm trying to picture in my mind.....TIA
Yeah, Noah, that's what mine looks like. Just pop it off?
Yep - but do it carefully! I used a letter opener to gently pop the rivets open.
Remove the hair and then press the rivets back together. I've had mine for months!

Hercules Nails..or whatever they are called...
very easy..but can only use on certain surfaces and you need to "bend them" in some instances to hold frames, etc.
They make a very small hole in the wall instead of using those big arsed things or screws.
My most favourite is Duct Tape. So "cute" that it comes in colours these days ( the New product ). Nothing like Fushia and Bright Orange to wrap on your plumbing (bandaid repair) or hold up a muffler (yep..it did...years ago..with the original "silver" colour). and..it's great to "hush" up your teenager (JUST KIDDING..but they do love the different colours!).

I haven't been able to find the Reynolds qt. bags, so went tothe web site and they have quit making the Handi Vac and the bags. I'm so, so mad. Zip Lock has a much inferior pump thing which goes with their bags. Unfortunately the Reynolds vac won't work with their bags.

I thought about that - but then there is too much air in the box for a true test, I think. When I use a green bag on small amounts of fruit I put in a paper towel and scrunch the bag to have the least amount of air in there. stuff keeps for ages!
I tried the cereal bags with considerably less success; but I think I will try a cereal bag for my pita bread.

I just pulled out some sliced swiss cheese in its zip lock bag - and its too moldy to use. So now I'm going to try keeping my sliced and grated cheeses in a green box and see if that does the trick for keeping them fresh. Must be some good use for the darn boxe if it is, in fact, not for my fabulous chicken salad, Fingers crossed.

That should take your cheese until Thanksgiving. (50 days)
If this works and not bogus, leaning towards buying a set.

bear I sure will let you know Bear. I just opened two new packages and I live alone so there should still be happy, healthy cheeses in the box next month. Hmmm - wonder if I should get a package to put in a green bag too...seeing as I like those so much....and what about a cereal bag?

Saw a new product on the tube last night. The premise goes... "when you bake a pan of brownies, do the edges get eaten first?"
New product is basically a large ice-tray-like device that you put batter in and then bake. It then will dislodge into small cakes that can be munched.
As CW did Post #15, I can't give web site or price. (advertising)
Have to find it for yourself if interested, I guess.

Oh, yeah, the rotisserie. I love to put a whole chicken in the center with all the spice rubs, etc. and surround it by two Cornish game hens. Really delicious and wonderful. As for the Magic Bullet, I made some Guacamole in it and got rave reviews. I hope that with all the hoaxes out there people will see this and realize that at least these are two really good products. The tenderest chicken I've ever had. Plus, my DD loves it during the cold weather when I start up the rotisserie chicken. It smells heavenly and you can watch it spin. She says it makes her feel cozy.

Has anyone ever used one of those microwave cookers for bacon? I saw one advertized that is sort of tall and you drape the bacon over it. I HATE to fry bacon but my kids love it on salads, sandwiches, and casseroles. I buy the precooked bacon bits once in a while but that gets expensive.

Yep - I have one. I couldn't WAIT to get mine cuz I hate to cook bacon on the stove.
Pffft - now the grease is in the microwave. hammer
The microwave is easier to clean than the stove, wall and counters, tho!

It's called "The Perfect Brownie" pan.
My sister bought one and LOVES the way she can make little brownies with the edges, but the clean-up is a pain. Her kids like to them with their favorite toppings before baking.
She sprays all the edges, but still has to let it soak in the sink, which drives her husband crazy.
He ends up cleaning it and says to her "Tell me AGAIN why this is called the Perfect Brownie Pan??" :tonguewag:
ETA ~ I found a cupcake tin at Target that I love. It's got 2" squares and is totally non-stick. I make cornbread, brownies, cake in it - everyone gets their own little cake and edges.

Do you mean the Cameron Cookware Makin Mak'n Bacon or the Presto or the Bacon Wave? I have always had the flat kind with ridges (bought for a buck at the 2nd hand store). Works fine and fits under my splatter cover - but still a lot to clean up. But now that you mentioned draping it over a rack.... that looks like the easiest clean up yet; although I couldn't see if they have covers. The customer reviews on Amazon on each of the above products have mixed reviews so I guess I will stick to my old one.
Fact is: nothing tastes like the old fried-in-the-pan or baked. Microwaved just isn't the same, imo.

Ive got the pledge pet hair remover to..
I looked on the bottom, and mine has lil bitty rivets, i just pop them out and empty pet hair and re use..
also, i wash dishes with playtex gloves,( witchy wont dare stick her bare hand in nasty dish water) lol ..anyways, i use my playtex dishwashing glove to remove pet hair...(old glove, not good dish glove)
heres what i do...i fill a old pitcher with water, then add bit of febreeze to it, either spray it in the water, or uncap and pour a dab in, then i take my gloved hand, dip once in the water pitcher, then slowly use my glove hand to wipe across the sofa, etc, and the pet hair glides off easily..it makes the sofa smell good to lol
dont ask me why it works, i dunno lol
but it works................

I think I'll be trying that - thank you! At least now I have a self-cleaning oven, so I won't have to worry about the grease.
