Morning Legal!
Heard about it but have no opinion on it. Sorry.
But it seems we are alone here so I take advantage and try to find
out another thing.
O/T
Know you also posted on the Drew Peterson thread. Why is nobody
following anymore? What did I miss? There are quite some things coming
in a few days. 02Oct...Judge decides on change of venue, etc.
Why is there no active thread anymore? Maybe I missed a thing or two or three...., lol.
Perhaps you know?
Thx in advance!
Lucky
Have a great day today all of you!
Good morning Lucky,
In ref. to D Peterson, I have not looked at that for a long time. When there is no new news to report sometimes CW will move the thread to another area until something happens then everyone will get interested in what is going on.
Casey- I think the xanx was a baby sister for Caylee I just don't know how often she used it from what I have learned about Casey, she could have used it many many times. Just don't know. I just know that Caylee would be missing many times and she would always say she was with Zanny so I just don't know.

I think the same thing about getting Zanny's information from Sawgrass that is another "I just don't know" I have not seen any reports of Casey getting out of the car and speaking with the manager or just going into the office. I just don't know how she got that much on her by just driving through.
Something about Zanny's driver's license missing never understood that statement. There are a lot of "I don't know's" when concerning Casey and her family.
Good morning everyone! Last week I was hoping to see a pre-trial and trial date set for the Criminal Check/Fraud case, and some of the Motions that Lyon had said that she'd be filing. I got a little of my wish.
Why haven't the dates been set for the Criminal Check/Fraud case? Judge Strickland made that ruling earlier this month.
9/3/2009 A ORDER GRANTING STATE'S MOTION FOR DETERMINATION OF NEW TRIAL DATE
Has the defense ever made any motions in regards to the Criminal check/fraud case, other that to get it delayed?
I know that the State has turned over some Discovery, but does anyone recall if any witness statements were ever taken or turned over?

I would like to know what everyone thinks of Lee's position since they found Caylee. Things pretty much changed after her remains were found and she went from missing to murdered.
I wonder what Cindy, George and Lee's relationship is since then.

They are all living together and I would imagine that would be difficult if they weren't all on the same page?? IMO Lee is behind Casey 100%.

Good Morning! :seeya:
Brought over from the weekend thread:
Remember Caylee was wrapped in garbage bags and a laundry bag, plus she was covered by trees and leaves. One of the experts Dr. Baden said that these elements would cause an almost mummified environment for Caylee.
The garbage bags and laundry bag would not have stopped the scavengers from picking up on the scent of decomposition.
On page 7 of the autopsy report, http://www.wesh.com/download/2009/0619/19802034.pdf , state "both bags have large defects, with gnarled, fragmented taring with missing pieces of plastic from both bags".
The laundry bag is described as being a "cylindrical fabric laundry bag" on page 10 of the autopsy report. There is no mention in the report of the laundry bag having a lid. IMO, if there had been a lid, it would have been mentioned in the report.
IMO, the plastic bags and laundry bag offered no protection for Caylee's body.

I decided to go back and re-listen to LE's interview of Casey at Universal. What if Casey is continuing to tell the same story (all lies) to Lyon? How would Lyon put together a defense?
chuckles... Casey has rehearsed this story (all lies) in her mind for so long, she does have difficulties in changing parts of it. For instance, even after admits that she doesn't have a job, later in the same interview, she makes references to "working."

casey and the gang do indeed seem to be far more concerned with being "wrong" than with being "guilty". she and her family have made it abundantly clear that this is not about caylee and her murder. it's about being right and their images. jmo

Good Morning All.
Thanks for all the links and orgainization Desmom. Really helps us along due to the amount of info we have.
So it seems the A-HA moment is Joy Wray. She won't hold up on the stand. My question is can they bring up her being Baker Act'ed 5 times? IMO it really won't matter. She's going to be a poor witness.
IMO, Lee appears to be drawn back into and under Cindy's control. He is living at the Anthony home.
I think they all have some sort of secret to keep. So its very convienent to all live together so stories can be kept straight. While I think Casey is the murderer, I think she had help after. Who knows to what extent?
I think at least G&C are scared to death. Lee I'm not sure yet. If only his tube socks could talk.

I do believe the Pro's can use Wray's past mental issues in the trial. It would speak to her credibility and can be documented.
Whats been bothering me alot is G and C's demeanor throughout all this. They act more like people trying hard to not appear guilty eventhough they are. I think when all is over we will see that G & C were involved from the beginning.....

I am also wondering how much of JW's prior medical history will be heard by a jury. While "we" have heard the stories, if a jury is not allowed to hear about her "issues" then they could think her more credible than we do.

Ms. Wray contradicted herself several times in her interview with LE in December 2008. http://boards.insessiontrials.com/showthread.php?p=13466089&highlight=wray#post13466089
If her memory was that faulty 3-5 months after her trips to Suburban Drive in her interview with LE, how accurate will her memory be 24-26 months later at the projected trial date of 06/2010?

You beat me to it. I would recommend for one and all to read desmom's *most excellent* comparison of Joy Wray's statements, at the above link.
By the time SA finishes reviewing these for the jury, it will be abundantly clear that she ain't wrapped real tight - even without the Baker Act info.
desmom, maybe you can help me. I have been looking to find the court hearing on Dec 11th that Baez was at, on the morning that Caylee's remains were found on Suburban Drive. I have no clue what the motions were, just the date. I was wanting to re-watch that court hearing, but can't find it.

This is what worries me. If AL is as qualified as stated by so many why is she deliberately misleading the court. She is coming off as being just as inapt as Baez and in a DP case that's not good. She should be focusing on the evidence instead of misleading the court. I think it's time for the court to start admonishing these lawyers on their inadequate work and wasting the courts time. All these motions do is point out the weaknesses in the defense's case.

I think what ever happened during Lee's depo with the state was a turning point for Lee. Either Lee finally told the truth and is now off the hook and ready to testify against Casey or he hung himself with lies and his lawyer knew and wanted no part of it. There is some reason that this is the time his lawyer chose to walk.

O/T..I think they should open up a new thread if there is activity as soon as October 2. I was following this case. just sayin.
I do think that Casey got the name from the Sawgrass apartments. no more, no less. Just a co-inky-dinky.
I think how Casey came up w/the name Zanny the nanny, and more specifically ZFG is one of the many mysteries of this case that will never be solved. I think it is possible Casey told everyone that the (fictitious) babysitter that was watching Caylee was named Zanny was just a name she came up with because it rhymed w/the word nanny. I think it is also possible she specifically came up w/ZFG from the Sawgrass apartments connection. Is it just a coincidence that the name she was using for her fake babysitter, Zanny, is a nickname for Zenaida? Personally I think that Zenny is a better nickname for that name than Zanny. The name Zenaida starts w/the letters Z-E, not Z-A, but who knows? I think the most important thing to remember is that Casey's ZFG is not a real person, and how she invented the name to help her get off for murdering her daughter is not really all that important in the grand scheme of things. Nevertheless, it truly is one of the fascinating little tidbits in this case.
I personally don't think that Zanny is a nickname for xanax. I just don't think that Casey would have had the means or motivation to try to obtain that drug on a regular basis. Casey certainly wouldn't have spend any of her money on it for Caylee, even stolen money.
Sadly, we will never know most of the details of this case, because the one responsible is not talking.:sneaky:

At least file a civil suite for defamation/slander and if they were real smart they would go after everyone that tried to blame them.
The have the potential of winning big if they play their card rights and don't put all their nuts in one basket. Maybe they could get Mitnik to take their case.

I think Jose has put all his eggs in one basket and is destined to fail. He is counting on moving this trial south and getting an all Hispanic jury willing to give Casey a walk because he is Hispanic. I think he'll fail miserably. ZFG is also Hispanic and I think the Hispanic community is far to smart to fall for Jose's crap and will not let him drag them down with his sinking ship. Good morning Sweet Martha, I hope your Hubby is doing better. Hospitals take so much out of the well people. You take care of yourself.
I missed the post about Caylee's playhouse being gone. I will go back and read. That is so sad, but that is the A's way of doing things. Hearing Ms. Gert speaking of her child was really so sad. She always has such nice posts.
31 days is enough for me to hang her. That should be enough for anyone. You or so right and I just hope I did not read that post wrong.
Good Monday morning, Friends! :seeya: Hope Judge Strickland sets the date for the fraud trial sometime this week.
I agree Dells. Zenny makes more sense for Zenaida than Zanny. I think Zanny was born because it rhymed with nanny and not because of Xanax.
As for ZG and Sawgrass - There have been reports on message boards Casey some how saw the Sawgrass guest card, ZG was connected to Cast Iron Tattoos and Casey found ZG while surfing facebook/myspace. I vote for Cast Iron Tat and the internet surfing.

I think it was a dumb move on JB's part to want to move the trial down south just due to his heritage. Maybe it would matter more or be more effective if Casey herself were hispanic, but I can't see how the jurors will care one way or another if JB is Hispanic. I also agree that any potential Hispanic jurors will not be too pleased w/Casey for picking a fictitious Hispanic person to blame Caylees disappearance and murder on.
I don't think it really matters where they move the trial, I think Casey will be found guilty. They could move the trial to Mars, and the Martians would still find her guilty.

I am also wondering how much of JW's prior medical history will be heard by a jury. While "we" have heard the stories, if a jury is not allowed to hear about her "issues" then they could think her more credible than we do.
I don't think she'll be able to keep her various and conflicting stories straight about where she was and when, under cross-examination by LDB. I think she can be discredited without bringing her medical history up.

I fail to see the logic of Baez's desire to *perform* in front of a Hispanic jury/community/audience. Hispanics are also mothers and grandparents, and will be just as appalled at the defendant and her family as anyone of any other ethnicity.
For Baez to assume he'll do better because of his own ethnic background is absurd, offensive, and imo, insulting to the Hispanic community he presumes to represent.

I think the Anthonys like to play games with words. Lots of half-truths and "mis-truths." I think Casey got "Zanny the Nanny" from one of Caylee's books - IIRC there was one book with a character named "Zanny the Nanny - but then Casey used that phrase in whatever context she wished. It is possible that Casey may have referred to Xanax as "Zanny." It is easy to picture Casey giving Caylee a sedative i.e. Xanax, chloroform or whatever and then laughing to herself that she ought to call the sedative "Zanny the Nanny" since it was taking care of Caylee.

I am 1/2 cuban and I assure you that NO cuban's that I have ever met enjoy being slandered all over the news, being accused falsely or condone or coverup child murder. Jose better start thinking in another direction if he for one minute thinks that cause he is hispanic that any hispanic is gonna gove him a pass on such a henious case.
I had 2 awesome fantastic hispanic nannies/daycare Mothers for my son. I had the comfort of knowing my son was being cared for in the best most loving homes while I was at work. NEVER eventhough I knew both daycare Mom's well did they take my son ANYWHERE. I lived with my Parents and they also knew and went to the sitter's homes many times when I was working late.
Bottom line IMO is Casey killed her child and is trying hard to slander the hispanic community by perpetuating the lie that a hispanic nanny took off and child her child.... Casey will NOT get a pass from the hispanics for trying to blame them for her own actions....

I am re-reading old document dumps. On page 39 http://blogs.discovery.com/criminal_report/files/01.pdf LE quotes part of a conversation they had with Rick, Cindy's brother.
RP: So that's how, that's how I know that. Anyway, uh, the counselor had told uhm, Cindy, "Just kick them out on the street," and Cindy wouldn't do that. She goes, "Uh, what about Caylee?" She says, Can't, "I can't kick my, my granddaughter out on the street," and because Casey would try to take her. And finally, the, the counselor said, "Well you need to file for custody." So I know, I know Cindy a couple of times had threatened Casey, this is through my mom, that if Casey didn't behave and straighten up she would throw her out on the street and file for custody.
Maybe the evening of June 15, the night of Cindy allegedly had Casey by the neck, Cindy did throw them out.
That would explain why George had such great recall of what both girls were wearing when they left.
Also, is Cindy feeling guilty about throwing them out? Is that why Cindy tried to misdirect LE in their investigation?
Which leads to...did Casey throw it up in Cindy's face after the 911 call but before LE arrived on the scene or when she was out on bond? Did Casey tell Cindy Caylee died accidentally because they were living in the car or some such nonsense? Did Casey say if Cindy hadn't thrown them out, Caylee would still be alive?
I do not believe George or Cindy were involved in Caylee's death and I did not want to believe they were involved in hiding Caylee's body. The above scenario would explain a lot of the A's behavior and attempts at misdirection of the investigation.
Hmmm, I will have to think about this more...please feel free to poke holes in this scenario. ...jmo

Cindy could very well have had an argument with Casey on the evening of June 15th. I am not sure if there are txtmsgs on the days following that would support Cindy actually throwing Casey out of the house. I'm leaning towards an argument most likely occurred, but that Casey was the one doing the threatening to move out and saying that Cindy wouldn't ever have to babysit Caylee ever again.
Of course, I've also "dreamed" that Cindy and Casey plotted to place Caylee's death on George. So that George would go to prison, and Cindy wouldn't have to worry about him getting the house or alimony support any longer. Cindy and Casey both could be free from George. NOTE: this WAS ONLY A DREAM!

RP: I would say this about Casey. If she sees, something or hears something she will spin it inot her own little world to make it work for her, whatever kind of lite it is. And uh, Cindy was on her back trying to find out who this, who the father was when it wasn't Jesse. And uh, to get her off, off uh, Casey's back, to get Cindy off her back I think she cut out his obituary.
When LE asked Rick how long he had know this about Casey, Rick said on page 42:

Rick wasn't around Casey much, as they lived quite a distance away. It does seem that Casey made quite a memorable impression on Rick, with the "I'm not pregnant" lie. That memory will most likely stay with Rick for the rest of his life.

I am re-reading old document dumps. On page 39 http://blogs.discovery.com/criminal_report/files/01.pdf LE quotes part of a conversation they had with Rick, Cindy's brother.
***respectfully snipped
Hmmm, I will have to think about this more...please feel free to poke holes in this scenario. ...jmo
IF Cindy did throw Casey/Caylee out, it might explain Casey's comment in the jail video along the lines of "Don't worry, I didn't tell them anything" as in, I didn't tell them that you threw us out.

She better be careful because I could totally see the defense team throwing her under the bus to save Casey. Why anyone would get involved w/the players involved in this case is beyond me. It seems as if anybody that has ever tried to help the defense or The Anthony's gets taken down in some way. I could just see the defense using her mental instability and her desire to help in the search for Caylee as a means to create reasonable doubt. They could potentially name her as one of the people that could have placed Caylee's body at the remains site. She just better be careful and watch her back. These people show no loyalty unless it is for Casey. Why she has such a pull over so many people I will never understand in a million years. I'm not even sure I want to know. She's evil.
Katprint
Always only my own opinions
I'm thinking along the same lines KP. We know casey isn't a 'deep' thinking person, so it had to be something off the top of her head that she could easily go with, she probably thought it was ingenious.
Richard Grund stated to Nancy Grace:
"Finally, one day when Casey came home from work to wait for Jesse and hang out with us, I kind of greeted her at the door with, What are we going to do about this baby-sitter thing? And she says, I found one. I have a nanny. Her name is Zanny, and I got her from Jeffrey Hopkins, who has a son named..."
I could imagine prior to that day casey had already been getting vibes from Richard that he wasn't thrilled about casey dumping Caylee on them everyday. Clearly he was annoyed if he "met her at the door" with this inquiry. She had probably indicated it was going to be a temporary situation until she could line up a new sitter, then she never mentioned any efforts toward finding someone as the weeks passed so RG got PO'ed. Perhaps casey decided she would drag this out until she was confronted, then after milking this situation as far as she could she had a ready made response (that had a bit of truth to it) to immediately spew out to Richard.

She says, Can't, "I can't kick my, my granddaughter out on the street," and because Casey would try to take her. And finally, the, the counselor said, "Well you need to file for custody." So I know, I know Cindy a couple of times had threatened Casey, this is through my mom, that if Casey didn't behave and straighten up she would throw her out on the street and file for custody.

Guilt is the most powerful weapon a child can use against a parent so this is possible. The biggest problem I have with this theory is Cindy having Caylee cremated. If she was feeling guilty why go against Casey's wishes and cremate her daughter. That reeks of a screw you moment from mother to daughter. I also don't believe that C&G knew that Casey had killed Caylee prior to July 15. I do believe they are helping to cover it up.

I think if the Anthony's are feeling any guilt, it's because they didn't try to control Casey earlier and they let Casey leave w/Caylee the night of the fight. They know Casey is responsible for what happened to Caylee. Personally, I feel that Casey and Casey alone is responsible for murdering Caylee. George and Cindy might not have been the best parents, but if Casey didn't like the way they did things in their house she could have left. She was an adult, and many young people, even younger than she was at the time she murdered Caylee, live out on their own and support their children. I do feel that the Anthony's are helping to cover up Casey's crime by outright lying for her and withholding evidence. For that they should feel guilty. Very guilty.

This IMO is exactly what the Anthony's have done from the beginning. They chose not to be truthful to cover for casey, or their own actions, or both. Instead they have tried to garble the events with their ever changing stories to make this as confusing as possible, and with the intent of creating some reasonable doubt about what could have happened to Caylee and when.

She is now up against a 7x12 wall and she still is playing her game. We have to now wait til sometime next June or July to find out what their defense is all about.
Doesn't the State have a right to know what kind of defense Baez is putting out there before trial so they can prepare accordingly?

This IMO is exactly what the Anthony's have done from the beginning. They chose not to be truthful to cover for casey, or their own actions, or both. Instead they have tried to garble the events with their ever changing stories to make this as confusing as possible, and with the intent of creating some reasonable doubt about what could have happened to Caylee and when.
I think this is a trait with the A's. If they don't want to deal with something they (like you say) garble the events.
George's gambling habits
George's suicide attempt with empty pill bottles and pizza.. Lots of pizza
Cindy when the car is brought back home, she goes straight back to work.
Casey is very good at it. Just get rid of Caylee and just thought she would deal with the consequences later.
Casey when being questioned by LE you can hear her or read her response with answerering a question with a question.
They tend to avoid conflict with deversion tactics, hoping maybe the subject would change, the distraction would divert attention somewhere else instead of facing whatever challenges they brought onto themselves.
In the meantime they continued to lie and try to put this on any innocent they could find or think of.

I believe it was Cindy that stated that Casey was advising Jose. (something like that)
In other normal circumstances I would say that's a joke but then we are dealing with Baez and since he is clueless as to how to defend Casey he may be letting her run with it.
Cindy would say anything to make Casey look like she is the poor innocent one and she has to participate in her own defense. If this is true this trial will be a circus from the mess Casey has already created.

Thank you for posting that. I feel the same way. If he is that prejudiced in his way of thinking, If I were the A's I would worry about him defending a white girl accusing a hispanic girl.
I think he needs to drop the race card.
People are people no matter what race. People love their children, People want justice, and they want the real truth.

Once again, Baez fails to see the forest for the trees. If he really believes that he can use the race card to sway a jury because he is Hispanic, how does he think the jury might feel about the fact that his non-Hispanic killer client accused an imaginary Hispanic nanny of the crime?
Jose, Jose, you need to start thinking things through all the way to the logical conclusion - even when your own theory is illogical! :sneaky:

Ah gee...you know I'm tired of trying to protect 'that little girl', just go ahead and let me out of her...I'm going home. At least I protected her for a while by staying in the pokey.
If Baez has a great defense that will shock all of us and get casey out of this murder rap, he sure is dragging his feet and making casey spend unnecessary time in jail comforting herself.
There is reciprocal discovery, but I think Baez is now back peddling by saying what Macaluso was referring to was info provided to them by the State, and from depos they have taken which I assume will be shared with the State.
One thing I always have to remind myself of when following a case...
the State made the charges and the prosecution has to prove them. The burden is on the State. The defense simply has to try to toss out some reasonable doubt and try to make excuses for her actions.

I think Cindy wanted no evidence left to go over. So she had the body cremated.

Casey has come along way in this past year.
I see her writing more when she makes her court appearances. So I trust her writing skills have improved.
George might not be getting paid for work he is doing for Baez but, hey it is a start. Way to go George. Ya gotcha a job!
Maybe the next time Jose needs to write a motion he will let George pick out something in one of those big ole law books and see that it gets to Casey and maybe Baez will let her write it all by herself. No cheating Baez..Casey likes to work alone.
And this from George who let it be known that he truly doesn't like Baez. Go figure on that one. This family who, according to Lee are so smart, seem to be consistently making really obtuse and fairly dumb moves in my opinion. Wow, George better be careful. He could potentially end up getting more jail time than Casey.:sneaky: Seriously, why would he jeopardize his life like this for the person that murdered his granddaughter? I know Casey is his daughter, but still. As much as I love my family, I would not lie for them on the stand and possibly get jail time for them, especially when I knew they were guilty of the crime they were accused of. If he gets jail time for committing perjury and Casey miraculously gets off on some technicality, I doubt very much that Casey would visit him in jail. She wouldn't give him the time of day. I hate to be mean about this, but I hope the state pursues this to the fullest extent of the law. <<<------ Isn't that what George wanted LE to do w/the protesters who were throwing pennies at their house? :D
I think the State has been playing their hand close to the vest from the beginning allowing the A's to think they were getting away with lying the whole time just sitting back and waiting for the right moment to pounce. I think the State has been playing their hand close to the vest from the beginning allowing the A's to think they were getting away with lying the whole time just sitting back and waiting for the right moment to pounce. I think this is just the beginning where the A's are concerned. I still think there's something very fishy about Lee's lawyer backing out right after the depo that hasn't come out yet. I think you or so right. I did not understand that when he backed out on lee and still think there is more to that than we know. There is one thing for sure we do know is the whole an;s bunch is covering for casey and want to get her out of this any way they can.Just hope it don;t work. The could also be comparing George's GJ testimony to the testimony George gave when the state deposed him. Remember, not too long ago the state deposed George, Cindy, and Lee. Who could forget Cindy having to be escorted into her deposition by that policewoman?
Right. That's what I think is happening. No need to dig for the M&M depo lies when they have another set already in their office.
But I thought he told the truth in the GJ it is just in the M & M depos and the SA depo he differed. please unconfuse me

Are you just assuming George told the truth because the GJ indicted casey?
Could be the GJ saw right through George. And he could very well have said a few little truths....like the car smelled of human decomp, and casey didn't want him going in the trunk to get the tire props, casey has stolen and lied and so on, in order to appear like he was being truthful. These things were already out of the bag so no biggie to repeat this info. Besides, we know how George likes to pretend he is being compliant and helpful to those in positions of authority. Of course I'd guess he also told a few mis-truths, and in his anger at M & M or the State he forgot about what he said to the GJ when asked these same guestions by M & M and/or the prosecution. Merely asking them in a different way could have tripped George up.
We don't know how much, if any, of George's GJ testimony contributed toward casey being indicted for capital murder.

I believe the kicker is that the lies they both told and are telling were and are told to interfere with a murder investigation. Not taking into account their cold actions toward their dead granddaughter, that is a moral judgment. This is a felony to purposefully lie and hide evidence. And they have all done both with the latter being punishable by law. Not to mention that they lied to the FBI and Martha Stewart found out how well that goes over.

So sad she had to lose her life when she was not even 3 years old. O/T, but my daughter is a Freshman in high school this year and she met a new friend in one of her classes named Caylee. Every time my daughter mentions her new friend's name, I think of poor little Caylee who will never even get the chance to go to kindergarten, let alone high school. It makes my blood boil.

I agree. The judge talked too much. He didn't even let the attorneys get a coherent thought or sentence out before he was interrupting them. He was making them lose their focus and momentum. If he wants to talk, fine, but let the lawyers at least make their points first. I guess I am just used to Judge Strickland and his manner of running his courtroom.

Sorry...catchin up...KC just used the same stories over and over again...hell why not they always worked...
Yes, I truly believe she would have never had a baby sitter lined up until RG confronted her and whalah...as soon as he asks...she has one...NOT!!!... it was from this point forward...no one besides the Anthony family or KC watched Caylee...ever!!!...so if she wasn't with C&G...only God knows where she was!!!

ITA...I think is prolly their best defense...serpentine...serpentine..
