Large-scale search for Rochester teen
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A national organization is helping the family of a missing Rochester teen pick up the search, months after she disappeared in South Carolina.
We will be planning in the Fall, a large-scale search, and I don't want to disclose the area, but we will bring in multiple teams and quite a few hundred people to conduct the search effort," said Monica Cason, of CUE Center for Missing Persons.

Hello Everyone!
I have been following your threads since the beginning...I can't believe that she hasn't been found and that this hasn't stayed in the news!
It hasn't been that long, since I myself was a teenager, off partying in Myrtle Beach. Knowing what I know from my youth, the party scene in Myrtle Beach and what "kids these days" are up to, here are some questions I hope haved been answered for the cops:
1. Were these kids doing drugs? Pot? Cocaine? Estacy?
2. Did they purchase these drugs (if any) from a dealer in MB? If so WHO? Did Brittanee owe or pay any money for dugs?
3. Who purchased beer and liquor for these kids?
4. On the day poor Brittanee went missing, had she been doing drugs or drinking? Had her friends? Had the boys she was visiting?
5. Why was she reported missing so quickly?
Here's what I am thinking:
a. I am curious what sketchy adult (if anyone at all) bought or sold these kids booze and drugs? Sketchy people like that should be questioned. IMO, if some low life 40 something guy, buys booze for a bunch of young girls, he may expect something in return...it is an avenue I hope they are investigating.
b. If she owed money to a drug dealer, IMO, that would be an incentive to snatch her...I hope this is also an avenue that has been investigated.
c. If these kids were doing drugs (lots of high school and college kids do party pretty hard) IMO, they may have just been unaware and not noticed if someone grabbed her--and IMO, they certainly would not tell the cops or their parents about alcohol and drug use. Not telling the WHOLE story can definitely hurt an investigation.
d. IMO, although lots of good kids dabble with drugs at some point, heavy drugs like this usually attract a more seedy element, and those kids, who especially when high, may be capable of terrible things. This is just my opinion.
d. Also, when girls are partying, they easily create drama, getting into lots of little tiffs (IMO...that's how it always went when I was that age). So who knows, maybe the girls were mean to her, she felt pushed away, and the next thing you know she ends up on the street alone...an easy target for some scumbag.
e. IMO, I would not report a friend missing after just a few hours, even if she wasn't answering her phone. IMO, you'd realize something was wrong because you knew she was with a shady group of people or a person, not because she didn't answer her phone or text messages for a few hours.
Something else I have been wondering about is a Twitter account in Brittanee's name. I did a google search one day, just looking at blogs and to see if any new news was out there...and I came across a Twitter page with her picture (the same one we have seen in the news) with all sorts of terrible updates from someone who, IMO was pretending to be "Brittanee." Taunting people saying "come and find me" etc. I have not googled her name for a while, and have not seen it since. I hope that the investigators take that seriously...someone that sick and twisted needs to be questioned, IMO.
Finally, I wish this were on the news more often! IMO, the media attention makes people very nervous and eventually someone will crack...
I have family who lives in that area of NY and I just keep thinking it could have been someone I loved. I feel so bad for her family, and I pray that she will be found.
All of the above is just my opinion, like I said, it hasn't been that long since I was that age.

One last comment...
The referneces to drugs are only my opinion. I am only assuming these kids were using drugs, because I know a lot of kids in that age group do use drugs. It is my opinion only.
Also, I do not believe that her friends had anything to do with her disapperance. IMO, these kids are not smart enough to pull off something like this.
It is only my opinion that she may have been exposed to a seedy element that may have contributed to her dissapperance.

I don't think her "friends" would be smart enough to pull something off like this. IF they are the ones who did this, then they are incredibly lucky to have not gotten caught by now.

Virginia Doll -
JO's brother PO is over age 21 as well as 2 of the guys with PB. I would suspect this is how alcohol was available.
There was also mention on JO's FB MB pics of people "panging" out - which I have been told is a reference to X and also to heroin.
On another note -
There have been human bones found in Conway, SC which is not far from MB. It has not been determined whether these bones belonged to a male or female or age of bones. Tests are underway - but they do know they are human remains.
Also another search for BD will get underway in mid Oct. This search is to be conducted by the CUE center. I have not heard what area they will be searching as in one of the last BD articles it was mentioned this was not being disclosed.

Family braces for Brittanee Drexel's 18th birthday
By Kurt Knapek - kknapek@thesunnews.com E-Mail
The pain and uncertainty of the last 163 days have been agonizing enough for the family and friends of Brittanee Drexel, the New York teen who has not been seen since leaving a Myrtle Beach hotel room in April.
But Wednesday - Drexel's 18th birthday - will likely be the most difficult of all, her mother said.
"Brittanee loved birthdays, and she loved a big deal being made about her birthday," Dawn Drexel said. "She couldn't wait until her 18th. We had a lot of plans ... a lot of things she really wanted to do."
Brittanee Drexel is still missing. She was last seen April 25 leaving the Blue Water Hotel on Ocean Boulevard, and investigators remain puzzled as to her whereabouts. Another search will take place later this month, according to the Community United Effort Center for Missing Persons in Wilmington, N.C.
Family members and investigators were encouraged to learn in late August that a missing California girl was found 18 years after she was abducted at a bus stop.
Drexel's family is planning a balloon launch next week in Rochester, N.Y., to coincide with her 18th birthday and the six-month anniversary of her disappearance.
While Drexel has missed several family holidays - Mother's Day, Father's Day and her brother's 6th birthday - along with her high school's homecoming this past weekend, Wednesday will be one of the toughest for family and friends, said Monica Caison, who has been the Community United Effort group director for 16 years.
"The first of everything is the worst," Caison said. "The first birthday, the first Christmas, the first Mother's Day. There's just nothing but questions. That is the torment.
"You just don't know how to treat that day. It's just a reminder of the ugliness of it all."
Caison said that she received "sporadic calls" about Drexel's disappearance after a billboard with her photo was erected in August in the Santee area of Georgetown County.
"Nothing has panned out," Caison said. "We were really hoping to get some information from that."
And the number of tips received by police has decreased during the past few weeks, Myrtle Beach Sgt. Joey Crosby said.
Dawn Drexel said the uncertainty of her daughter's whereabouts or condition has affected her health and has left an emptiness in her other children - sister Myrissa, 12, and brother Camdyn, 6.
"They miss their sister so much," Dawn Drexel said. "For my son's birthday, he released balloons and hoped his sister would get them. They just want her to come home."
Other family members remain optimistic that Brittanee will be found alive and well.
"The hope is not faded because we just don't know where she is," said Carol Wagner, Brittanee's grandmother. "We don't know what happened to her. I have a feeling she's still out there.
"I just think about her every day. I've been sick to my stomach every day knowing she's gone. It doesn't matter if it's her birthday or not. The emotions are still the same."
The CUE is planning another search for Drexel later this month, Caison said. She would not disclose the time or location of the search.
Family and investigators said the story of then-11-year-old Jaycee Dugard, taken from a bus stop in 1991, has provided some extra hope. She was found in August and reunited with her family.
"Those are miracles, but it shows we have to continue to look for people, especially kids," Caison said. "It reminds us to look close to home. I've told Dawn Drexel that we're continuing to look for Brittanee. Without a body, there is always hope."
Wagner said she is happy the Dugard family received "closure," but hopes it won't take so long to find her granddaughter.
"Maybe we'll hear from her on her birthday ... you never know," she said.

Hi Tallulah-
Thanks for addressing my questions. I have never heard of "panging" but then again I have never done estacy or heroin either!
I think poor Brittanee may have gotten involved with these drugs and perhaps OD'd...which would send those boys packing back to NY at midnight, sans their deposit, and her "friends" to switch to a new hotel with just one night left on their trip. She also could have gotten in the car with someone they befriended in MB...who may or may not be tied to drugs.
OR
Poor Brittanee wanted nothing to do with these drugs and found herself isolated and alone, making her easy prey for some monster.
Regardless I hope that these kids come clean about any and all drug use and anyone they met while in MB. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that drugs and alcohol are somehow involved.
Heroin is absurd. I have a lot of friends who were involved in their younger years smoking pot, using cocaine, even estacy. Never ever had any one of them even considered doing something as grotesque as heroin. It really makes me question the character of these kids, if the heoin use is true...I mean that is not a "mainstream drug"..IMO.
Did anyone else see the Twitter page I referenced above? I am too sickened to google for it...I hope whomever was behind it is questioned about her disapperance and prosecuted.

VA Doll - I've never done any of the above mentioned drugs either. I've had do dig in an do research and ask questions about certain terms.
Of course we will never know with 100% certainty if there were drugs and/or alcohol involved unless BD shows up and tells the story. With that being said, there were several pics on JO's FB and others FB accounts showing partying with alcohol. And it's Spring Break - away from home in what is considered a party town at a party time - so it's not far fetched to believe there was at least alcohol being consumed.
Then there comes the comments that were entered under several of these photos regarding "panging", being "panged out", etc. And these terms come from drug use, not only from what I have determined, but what others have also.
Also if you saw any of the pics, if you noticed how these kids were dressed. The girls and most of the guys had on normal beach wear and dressy club wear - no jackets - no sweaters - girls in short shorts/skirts and no sleeves. But... There were at least 2 boys in those pictures who continually wore long sleeve shirts. Their dress was out of place with the others. This denotes a certain activity. JMO
While I don't know and am not saying that these boys have done a certain drug - the comments and the clothing make one suspicious of certain activity. JMO
Websleuths.com has the pics on one of the BD threads. If you haven't seen them and would be interested, I can find the link to send you.

Psychic aids family look for missing Brittanee as she turns 18
For Dawn and Chad Drexel, the loss of their daughter, Brittanee, is both a misery and exhaustion.
Yet, hope keeps the Drexels in high spirits as they celebrate the 18th birthday of Brittanee nearly six months after her disappearance at Myrtle Beach, California last April 25.
Brittanee had been at Myrtle Beach for spring break before she was declared missing.
Dawn plans a balloon launch in the coming days in honor of Brittanee’s birthday, whec.com says.
“We had a lot of plans for her 18th birthday and she’s not here, so it’s very difficult”, Dawn said during the Maury Povich show.
To ease her mind and have some advice, “Dawn spent quite a bit of time going through Myrtle Beach with a psychic”, Lynette Adams reports in whec.com
Brittanee’s father Chad Drexel says the psychic identified a car he believes Brittanee got in. He says the psychic saw a group of young men in that car. “It’s a high human trafficked area and for my daughter to be tortured somewhere. I would rather her have gone in peace”, Chad says.
The Drexels say they will never stop looking for Brittanee and they ask the community to continue to pray for her return. “You don’t know if she’s alive, if she’s okay, if she’s not alive”, they say.
Dawn says she will be headed back to Myrtle Beach for another organized search in about two weeks.
The pain of losing a member of the family must indeed be difficult for the family. With this, the help of the immediate community aside from the police and the media, is a great moral and physical support for a suffering family in search of a missing member of the family. A sympathetic community as well could pitch in evidentiary support on traces of a missing person, and solving a crime.
Too, the help of psychic cannot be discounted as had been proven in a number of cases. Though there are some cases where some psychics were not significantly helpful, we cannot discount credible stories where psychic capacities have helped police in locating missing persons as well as aiding in solving related crimes. It would be better to try all forms of help rather than being skeptical and not contribute anything about it to solve the case.

Thanks Talulah! I have never seen the pictures from the MB trip...but that is an interesting point about the boys with long sleeves.
IMO, of course they were drinking, and probably doing some drugs. That's pretty typical with teenagers and college kids. What concerns me is that "serious drugs" like heroin, cocaine, estacy do come with a seedy element. Another poster pasted an article where Brittanee's father says a psychic identifies a car full of guys, and then the father references MB as being an area for potential human trafficking...IMO, if they purchased drugs from someone in MB, that person could be involved in a trafficking business. It happens in the US more often than we think...and these sleaze bags use drugs and alcohol to "meet" potential candidates (ie, young, niave girls, who may be troubled, hence hard drug use). It sounds like the plot from a Hollywood movie, but these things do happen, IMO.
That is why these, IMO, morons that she went on this trip with need to just suck it up and come clean about any and all drug use. The police need to be made aware of everything, every minute detail is a possible lead! Sure they'll be in trouble with their parents, and sure, it's embarassing, but at least they'd have the peace of mind knowing that they have done everything to help find Brittanee, IMO! Can you imagine keeping a secret, knowing that a girl may be being tortured, or dead, all because you are too self absorbed to speak up? I am not saying these kids haven't told the whole truth, we don't know what they have said...I am just stating my opinion, trying to rationalise I suppose.
On another note, has this Twitter page been investigated? IMO, it could be someone connected to her disapperance who was trying to deflect, or throw the cops off.
Her poor family, it just breaks my heart!

If BD's last text to JO was at 8:45, but she texted JG at 9:15 - where was she for that time period of 30 minutes and why did whoever that had her allow her to be texting with JG - if this person was a threat or was going to do harm to her...
Certainly within 30 minutes she should have been nearing the BH. I think the shape BD was in she should have been able to walk a mile in 30 min. give or take.
For her not to show up on the street cam she was either 1) in a car 2) or she had taken to walking on the beach 3) or she had made a stop at another hotel...
I still have my qualms about this being BD doing the texting. Within that 30 min. anyone could have scrolled thru her text messages and picked up on how she texted - which would be about like every other teen who texts...
Could it be possible the perp made her text these messages to buy time? Or had nothing really happened...yet...she wasn't feeling threatened and continued on with her conversation with JG?
If BD was gone off the street within that 7 minutes - and she was under any kind of duress how could she have carried on a "normal" text conversation with anyone?

Would it help this psychic to know that Myrtle Beach is in SOUTH CAROLINA? At least the Myrtle Beach that BD went missing from. Until then, I'd have to discount everything said, YKWIM? The crystal ball doesn't come equipped with GPS, I am guessing.

The psychic wasn't the one writing the story...this was the reporters mistake and/or the editor for not catching that.

Thank you for pointing that out. I certainly didn't see it coming myself. :blushing:

From that link: More than 75 teams with horses have registered to take part in the search in addition to about 50 law enforcement officers and as many as 12 cadaver dog teams, Caison said.
Godspeed to them all!
I will never let go of my belief that those who were in MB with her, hold the answers to her location. Frankly, in the words of Rhett Butler, they simply don't give a damn.

I haven't been here for awhile but Brittanee has been on my mind and I was checking for latest info. I pray the latest search efforts will yield some kind of answers. I can't imagine the pain these families must experience not knowing where their loved one is.

BD's travel mates don't have a clue where she is.
Since BD was initially a runaway, her Mother should do public service announcements for the hotlines. It would be helpful to all sides in this search.
Let someone know your plans. Have a backup plan. Keep in touch!
