"WASHINGTON (CNN) — Two out of three Americans who watched President Barack Obama's health care reform speech Wednesday night favor his health care plans — a 14-point gain among speech-watchers, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation national poll of people who tuned into Obama's address Wednesday night to a joint session of Congress."

I have no doubt that is true but my quess is that most of the people watching were already in favor of Obama's Health Plan and not new undecided voters or folks who decided against.
I'm not sure about that. The audience, in my opinion, included a mass of right-wingers wanting to confirm their stance that Obama is out to ruin their lives. And, most all viewers were interested (even if not for) in Health Care reform.

When do the demographics come out?
If true, then Obama convinced those RWs to join his plan cause Ortiga writes that 2 out of 3 who watched the speech agreed with his Health Plan with a 14% gain among those who watched.
ABC I didn't "write" that, I linked to it, a CNN story.

I'm guessing most who watched the speech enjoy listening to the President. The members of Congress were a captive audience, like it or not. Did anyone in Congress change their position?

Check out how TennCare has worked out. That alone should give everyone pause when it comes to public plans and co-ops.

"WASHINGTON -- If President Barack Obama was looking for a big bounce in support from lawmakers Thursday from his health care address to Congress on Wednesday night, he didn't get it"

And I might add anyone who was watching who really wanted to see a "PLAN" were sorely disappointed. It was just the usual obama rhetoric and blame game. He has tripled unemployment and the debt in the 9 months since he took office and while it is a dubious distinction, it is high time he take responsibility. Oh yeah, and be a leader instead of a puppet hiding behind all the 'bad guys of yesteryear.'
The more that guy talks, the worse he looks. He treated the public as tho we are morons. His statement that illegals will not be covered was a patent lie. He knows it. And if he doesn't know it, he should, b/c it would be unconstitutional if the public policy is enacted. That is, unless he plans to change the Constitution to suit his fascist agenda.
And it kills me, he won't sign a bill that adds one dime to the budget. Who the heck is he kidding???? Where is this arbitrary $900b in Medicare waste and fraud? If it exists, why wasn't something done before now? Everytime he turns around, he puts his foot in his mouth, it is beyond laffable.
And please tell me how he can make ANY promise to ANYONE that they can keep their plan and/or their doctor???? To date, he hasn't been able to control doctors. It is a patent lie that doctors are onboard with his plan. I don't know one doctor or nurse or staff who is in favor. I have the unfortunate pleasure of having to deal with a number of doctors who are well regarded in their field in the BIG cities. Rather, quite the opposite.
I didnt watch his speech, because I really felt he had nothing "real" to say. I do agree with your thoughts on the "you can keep your doctor" line he keeps spouting off. I know for a fact my cardiologist has said if the current proposals pass, he will no longer accept medicare patients, because the payments are so low as is, and the plan intends to cut the payments even more. He cant afford to keep his place running on what medicare allows.

No, course not. The Repubs would rather see the nation sink than approve of anything proposed by the Dems...no matter how good it is for our country. IMO.

I suggest you not vote for him and instead vote with the lobbyists, big health ins ceos and big pharma. They certainly need your voice more than some 50 mil of your neighbors who have no insurance.

Lack of Health Insurance does not mean Lack of Health Care and it is Health Care for the poor and needy that is the concern or should be in my opinion. I want to see the Cap lowered on Medicaid and the State Progrmas expanded. We all want to see everyone, including illegals have a safety net and Health Care. No one who seeks medical attention is ever turned away.
Really? No one who seeks healthcare is ever turned away. I guess that's why thousands of people lined up in Tenn for some healthcare.

This group was originally set up to function in third world countries before it became obvious how needed it was right here in America. I think it is shameful that our citizens have to do this to stay healthy.
I am truely shocked at the downright selfishness and meaness of some other Americans that think it is just fine for their fellow citizens to have to stand in line for hours to see a doctor.

50 mil now eh? on what planet did you get your number?
I did not vote for him, and would never vote for him. I suggest you get your facts straight, obama already cut a backdoor deal with big pharma.
I don't care if illegals don't have health insurance. They don't belong here anyway.
All of my neighbors have health insurance, so now what?
"The Census Bureau released the latest data on the number of Americans without health insurance. The number of uninsured individuals rose from 45.7 million in 2007 to 46.3 million in 2008. This increase of 0.6 million would have been much worse without a growth in government-provided insurance of 4.4 million, including a 3.0 million increase in coverage under Medicaid. "

I was speaking of "neighbors" in the Biblical sense.
