Janet Jackson To Pay Tribute To Michael At The VMAs

Janet will help kick off the awards show, which airs live Sunday at 9 p.m.

Following Jackson's sudden death in June, his sister Janet will return to the VMA stage to pay musical tribute to her brother. On Sunday, Janet — who has won nine VMAs — will make a special appearance at the VMAs to help open the show and honor MJ's career.

From what I understand she and backup dancers are going to perform his songs (don't know which ones) but heard last night on the news that she was rehearsing almost 15 hours a day for this show. I can't wait to see it. :ohmy:

I've read that the trailer of the Michael Jackson concert movie will have its first run at the VMA.

How tacky was that scene Kanye West just made? While Taylor Swift is giving her speech for best video he interrupts and says Beyonce made the best video ever (who was nominated as well) ......... tacky, tacky :ohmy:

No - just posted about Kanye West above. He is known to be controversial but that was so tacky. I think West is a great artist but his "manners" leave a lot to be desired. JMO

Madonna made me cry. I really lost it when I saw Janet. She tried so hard, but it was obviously difficult for her.

Oh so did I Emerald. Actually started, like you, when Madonna was speaking. I think out of the entire family besides his Mom -- Janet has proven to have handled herself with dignity and class and always seemed the closest to MJ. :rose:

Was watching part of the red carpet prior to the show and Jermaine was interviewed. He did not even know Janet was performing just thought there would be some kind of tribute to MJ.

They are going to show clips later on from the "This Is It' movie also

I'm taping it -- cannot sit through a whole show of these awards. Love fast forward on the DVR :laugh:

She doesn't exactly hit my personal taste for music ... but I have to admit she's very talented. She CAN sing and isn't a lipsyncher like for example Britney.

I've shortly posted on Kanye, too, but imo it's sad that his negative behavior gets more attention by us and the media than Madonna's great, well-thought speech about Michael Jackson. Her words not only apply for Michael but also for a lot of other celebrities who are brought down and humiliated by the media -- for their looks, their private life etc.
