I am trying to read the Smoking Gun website but the ad with the woman picking her nose has about sent me over the edge. Are there any good, free ad blockers out there?

That ad is disgusting and I can't imagine anyone finds it amusing. Good taste is going downhill quickly, isn't it? Your question is a good one, I'm looking forward to hearing the answers.

camra, I googled "I need a free ad blocker" (no quotation marks) and came up with several good links. One of them was for a download at cnet - that's a good site that I trust. I'm going to look into them. I didn't even know you could get an ad blocker so thanks!

Yeah, I Googled it also. I just wondered if anyone had opinions on good ones, or warnings on bad ones!

If you are using Firefox, there is an add-on called adblock plus. It is pretty good.

You just go under tools and click on add-ons. It should be listed there.

AVANT Browser has the best in ad/pop up blocker. I use it and I'm very happy with all its bells and whistles. Never had an ad get past it.

I've been wanting to download firefox but haven't taken the time to do it. I think I will now - thanks, flare.

This is what I have used for years and I never see any ads.

You're welcome.

Firefox seems to be quicker and they say it has less security problems.

You will still need to use IE for some sites, especially any microsoft sites.
