CIA's black sites, illuminated....
And Condi testified: we don't do rendition, it's against the law,,,,, but we did.
It's all coming out now. I'm baffled, 9/11 happened on the last admin.'s watch and the including the antrax in mail and all that..... a few weeks later.....and Cheney controlled the CIA....and all the fake alerts.....
We were had, and they didn't get any info.... they were just lucky.
I believe the threat was there, but they used THEIR fear, to scare us, that was not leadership IMHO. Let's look forward, if we can...generation before us did, and we can too, IMHO.

'They Kept Us Safe' - Unless You Count the Dead People
'They Kept Us Safe for 7 years' - Didn't they comprehend that their job description required 8???

IMO, the Bush administration did what they had to do. The enemy wanted us dead. Would you rather they had shared tea and scones with these terrorists in hopes that they felt merciful and spilled their knowledge?
I honestly believe that many here have no idea what the Bush Administration saved this country and YOUR families from. Be thankful.

Baffling, isn't it? Same crowd that thinks cigar smoke is a method of torture. God help us!

I agree. And to give Obama credit, he has kept MANY of the Bush policies, to include rendition.

Yes, the GWB Administration did what they had to do.
They involved us in a war with a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, was not a threat to us and is costing us more than the estimate of Obama's Health Care Reform for the next ten years.
Over 4,000 of our troops have been killed in the Iraq war; tens of thousands horribly wounded. And, I do not believe the families of the our troops in Iraq believe they are safe.

Thank you croc, this sentiment is shared by many people. The subject itself is not so clear cut. We (the USA) and the world will never get rid of terrorism. If one cell is squashed, another will pop up. There will be fanatic followers of.....just about anything (not just Islam). Even some (a very few) Pro-Life people are bombing clinics and killing Doctors.
With billions of people in our world, a small percentage are bound to be fanatics of some sort. And, unfortunately, some of those people or groups can cause devastation for many.
Our problem is how to prevent or find and stop these fanatics. Not an easy task as those sands are continually shifting.
I, too, question our continuing involvement in Iraq. At least, at the level we have now. There will never be "Peace" in the Middle East. There hasn't been for several thousand years. The world needs to monitor the situation but will never be able to control it. Our troops in Iraq will never bring about a "solution" to their political problems.
I remember Viet Nam. Yes, I'm old enough. I have 2 High School classmates, my High School boyfriend and my next door neighbor on the Wall in Washington. What was the result of all our losses? The Chinese Communists control the country. Did we "stop" anything? Did we "win" anything? No, we didn't. What we have is the names of thousands of young people on a Wall in Washington.
So, I question. What is our purpose? Are we going about the "War on Terrorism" correctly?
I do not have answers. Even after Viet Nam and all the ensuing years, I have no answers. Unfortunately, I believe that our Government doesn't have the answers either.

Well said. I would only add that I believe this administration has a much better chance of finding the answers as our president is truth-driven - not faith driven.

And well said to you, too! I agree with you and hope we are both right.
