I am still trying to figure out how to find out what in the heck is going on with In Session. Please if you know, tell me. I think the communication about and from this network is THE 'ABSOLUTE worst in the business. For example, over the last few of weeks, Jami Floyd has been gone from her own show much of the time. What's up?

I am amazed that In Session doesn't realize that they (the hosts/programming) is also a BIG PART of the viewing experience. I just happened to find out that In Session is moving from NYC to Atlanta and many/most of the show hosts will be leaving...I think in November. So what does this meant to future programming????

It is impossible to find out what is going on with In Session. Do you guys know? Where am I supposed to be looking? Why isn't there a Forum for Programming and Hosts....this network does NOT seem serious at all about their viewers.

Maybe she's on vacation. I really like her a lot, but I think she can probably do better than In Session. It's not the same anymore.
Court TV was much classier. jmho of course.

She was on vacation for two weeks recently. You might go to her page on facebook for updates on what she is doing. Beth has two pages there too.

Back in June TruTV announced major changes -- job cuts for 65 staffers -- to be made affecting its New York operations.

Media Bistro was told that Ashleigh Banfield and Jack Ford are among the potential staff reductions.

My uneducated guess would be that Ashleigh doesn't want to move to Atlanta. (The article says that they are closing down their New York operation and moving it to Atlanta.) Maybe that's what is causing her devil-may-care attitude.

and Jack Ford??! JACK FORD??? :sad:The sensible pillar of Court TV!! Good grief. I had stopped watching for months but now switch to CNN or WRAL coverage at 1 pm. MAYBE the change will be better???

At least we still have the forum. For which I'm thankful.

I totally agree with your high opinion of Jack Ford.

I will be very sad not to see him on InSessions.::mad:

Jack Ford is the calm voice of reasonable discussion, ensuring confusing legal issues are explained without a lot of hype and the 'me, me, me' attitude.

I am hoping he will be THE one who moves to Atlanta with a new contract. I believe the 'new' TruTV - InSession anchors will need his experience -- one who can show them how a professional handles that desk.

This live trial has been most interesting; very good attorneys on both sides. I wish more viewers had watched it. It has been a fascinating case.

It was reported on Beth's & Jami's facebook pages that all of the Anchors were being laid off. The only people being kept out of the New York office are two field producers, Beth & Jean.

The ones staying are not physically moving to Atlanta, they will be broadcasting out of the HLN/CNN studios in NYC.

Thanks to all who have posted and responded to this thread. I really enjoy watching trials...it is fascinating. I don't get to watch much because I work full time...but try to always watch during my lunch time usually from 1 - 2 EST....so I guess because I don't watch much that is why I always feel out of the loop...although, I do think they could do a better job of posting information here in the forum...that is where the faithful come to get/give information. Does anyone know how to request that a new forum be added? I was thinking one about Programming...can only administrators start/open a new forum? Thanks, fellow courters!

Thanks for finding the information, Warhorse. How aptly you have named yourself. Jean and Beth are always (or almost always) in the field, anyway. I assume they will remain unscathed. I hope.

Yes only administrators can open forums. I suggest you contact Coldwater with your suggestion to open a new board. Each trial has their own board so you might go there to keep in the loop during trials.

Oh, I am so for that....I turn the channel the minute I see Ashley Bansfield...She is not an attorney yet when she is a guest she tries to act like she is with some of her responses....She must have known someone to get that job...she sure isn't qualified....

I so wish Vinny would come back.......I met him in person and he is just as pleasant, so is his family....wonderful people....his father is the greatest...

I can't bear to watch/listen to her show. It is all about Ashleigh and what she thinks. Who gives a fig about her personal opinion on any case? Her affectations drive me crazy - and the pontificating and editorializing are pointless. I was thrilled when she was on vacation for a month this summer - what a blessing. I could watch Open Court without wanting to scream. Now that she's back, I'm back to watching the feeds.

I will really miss Jack Ford come mid-November. I agree with the other posters about his professionalism and ability to facilitate a reasoned discussion about complex legal issues and specific trials. He is the absolute best.

I'm willing to bet that the new Atlanta-based moderators will be talking heads only - not lawyers - who constantly interject their personal opinions, talk to the audience at a voice level approximating a scream, and belittle their guests (similar to some of the hosts on HLN (Nancy, Jane, Mike - I know that Nancy is a lawyer - but she is so blantantly biased/one note that I can no longer watch her program). HLN's PM programming is all about "bombshell, outrage, and getting people pissed off" - and sometimes skew the truth in order to do so.

I read the corporate memo re the changes at InSession, and in the end, I have no idea what they're saying. They make it sound like there will be no changes to the daytime line-up of shows, just that they'll be broadcasting from ATL. Maybe we can get the Real Housewives to do legal commentary.

Seriously, I think we all knew this was coming, back when CourtTV was changed and scaled-back.

I loved CourtTV..I even wrote the higher beings at CNN..and said I would be willing to pay a monthly fee..kinda like HBO..if they would keep the "TRU"TV on court cases! I miss the old days....but enough about that..

CNN has made this push to make all their anchors have strong..almost fake accents..what's up with that?? I cannot imagine one of them running these court cases. I have stopped watching them...completely..and if I can get the trials on any other local channels...I go that route..more reliable. Here is a link from freygea that explains most of it. It SOUNDS like InSession will just move from NY to Atlanta and that new anchors will be assigned to "in-session" It mentione J Ford & Ashleigh are on the "cut list", but perhaps they didn't want to move. No mention of Jamie, which I would NOT mind if she made the cut. But NO, they will take away my Jack Ford! boo...

Lots of changes at In Session were announced a few weeks ago. The entire production is moving to Atlanta but In Session will still cover trials and be seen on truTV during the day. Jean and I will stay and work out of New York as will most of the field producers. Jack, Ashleigh and Jami will have their last shows on In Session in mid-November. After that, new anchors out of Atlanta will take over. I don't who they will be. The production in Atlanta will be under HLN (Headline News). I hope this answers most questions for now. Stay tuned.

At that point
Turner Broadcasting's HLN in Atlanta will provide programming for truTV's daytime hours.

I am assuming that means the programming will remain on TruTV, just being produced in HLN studios now.

I hate to beat a dead horse but I'm a newbie, I can get away with this stuff.

Will Ron Kuby still be working? It's clear that the three shows are over in November but what about Ron? He reminds me of my super cool doctor. So I can't live without this guy. Is he safe?

I see lots don't like Ashleigh, I like her when she's not flipping out like she's about to go loco on somebody.

I just recently started watching the trials. Can anyone answer this, how do we know when a live trial is coming up? They keep playing semi-old stuff and passing it along as live, sorta. Am I supposed to be watching CNN instead? Is that where the live trial coverage went? I haven't watched CourtTV trials since OJ Simpson and just started tuning in to InSession two weeks before Castillo v NC.

And I also stupidly thought the Edwards and that other guy that poisoned his wife trials were live. Sorry if this is in the wrong place, just wanted to toss it all together since this board is very overwhelming.

At least, that's how I see it. He fills in in the NY office and chances are, he's not moving to the South to keep the fill in gig.

:crying:

I'm not saying, cuz I don't have a clue. I was only saying, he wasn't a regular like Jack or Ashley or Jamie. Who knows, for a couple of days @ a time, he might go to wherever to sit in for whomever. He wouldn't have to actually MOVE there, IMO. I only heard no more Jack and Ashley--is Jamie staying on, or is she kaput, too?

you have to ask this question at "cnn.com/crime" who air the trials.

Tru Tv is a separate entity that just carries their feed until 2pm ET.

Tru Tv have their own Message Boards @ http://boards.trutv.com/

I wish to God they would get rid of Ashleigh Banfield. Yesterday she got caught eating a granola bar:w00t: (her words). BRING BACK VINNY!!!!

Vinnie is the best...I met him a few times and he is just as friendly in person...I met his wife and children.....and his father who is a retired judge...

I would love to see Vinnie back....

Ashleigh Banfield would be no loss at all.....she tries to act like she knows what she is talking about...when she hasn't a clue....

My future at In SessionShare
Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at 12:58pm
Lots of changes at In Session were announced a few weeks ago. The entire production is moving to Atlanta but In Session will still cover trials and be seen on truTV during the day. Jean and I will stay and work out of New York as will most of the field producers. Jack, Ashleigh and Jami will have their last shows on In Session in mid-November. After that, new anchors out of Atlanta will take over. I don't who they will be. The production in Atlanta will be under HLN (Headline News). I hope this answers most questions for now. Stay tuned.

Thank you, corny! I was going to email you to find out what's going on, since I knew you'd know -- but here you are and you did know, and thanks again.

New faces, hmm.

I searched (quickly) through these boards to find out what the new CNN In Session line-up will be and when the change to Atlanta will occur. Can't seem to find it.

I also went on to the CNN/Crime website and could not find it either.

Does anyone here know when the move to Atlanta will occur and what the new line-up in shows will be? Who will anchor the shows?

Curious minds want to know.

Thanks a bunch.

I just started a thread on the MEDIA board asking about this change which is due shortly.

I was just curious as to exactly when it would happen and wondered who the new anchors will be.

I missed this thread somehow.

Sorry to all.

BTW - any news on WHO the anchors will be?

As far as I know, TruTV will still air In Sessions - the broadcast studio is changing from New York to Atlanta. At least that is what I think is going to happen. I really like Vinnie Politan. Glad he will be a host. Not sure who the other person mentioned is.

As long as they air trials, I'll be happy. We have all seen hosts come and go, this is just another change. Should be interesting.

that would sure work for me. frankly i'm ready for some new hosts anyway. it does help to have attorneys as hosts so that we get the legal info needed to help us sort out what goes on in the courtroom. vinnie can help with that.

i was kind of hoping that HLN would advertise this new set up but because they haven't i'm just not sure if they're planning to close up the daily newscasts in favor of trial coverage.

guess we'll have to wait and see.

I tuned in for a bit today. Came in while Ashley was on, and man, I've never, ever, ever seen her so doggone fired up!!! Guess maybe she feels she can just let loose since isn't this the last week? She could have taken on Nancy Grace this morning, and came out on top!!!!

i don't mean to sound catty here but lately i've had the feeling that Ashleigh has been "auditioning" while she's on camera. she's gone from a somewhat humble sounding partner to Jack Ford's immense wealth of legal knowledge to an overly irritated defender of the world's victims.

funny you should compare her to Nancy Grace. it seems like Ashleigh might be bucking for a similar type of show that she can host. since her stint at TruTV will end soon i can't help but think that she's applying her "resume" on air!!

i certainly believe that she'd be a good host if she'd just calm down a little. these histrionics that she's been displaying lately are just a bit over the top for me.

I, for one, am not going to miss Ashleigh Banfield. She was a bit hard to take when she co-anchored with Jack Ford and became close to intolerable when she got her own show. Her continual self-effacing comments "I'm no lawyer blah blah blah" to her rants when she hops up on her soap box are hard for me to take. Put her on a show like Nancy Grace's show where you know what you are going to get - her opinions and her opinions only. Keep her off shows like inSession where I expect to receive the facts of the cases being covered and true analysis and coverage of the law.

I will miss Jack Ford a lot. Makes me want to go into law and somehow get into Yale just to take one of his classes  . I will miss Jami's show, too. I know she isn't very popular but she is a defense attorney and I felt presented the defense side of things well, even if I didn't like all she had to say. I learned a lot from her and hope that they will continue to have a show that presents the defense side of the law.

I am glad Vinnie will be back. I truly hope they try and keep to the formula of presenting the facts of the case and explaining the law as opposed to a talking head just screaming his/her opinions ::eyes Ashleigh:: .

I agree with Joolz and Bon. I used to really like Ashleigh, but the last couple of months or so, she's been way too opinionated, and hyper to boot! Watching the coverage yesterday and hearing the details of the young couple tortured and murdered was the worst thing I could imagine anyone ever going through. It was so difficult to listen to. And Ashleigh - while I agreed with her opinion - was so out of control that it made the whole two hours that much more stressful. I will miss Jack Ford. He is one class act. Very glad Jean and Beth will stay. I prefer their factual, non-biased reporting over hysterics.

It's my understanding that Insession will stay on trutv. Next week new anchors and new sets. The trials will not be moving to HLN, just the production is moving to Atlanta out of New York.

I'll stick with watching the live trials on the computer screen. I rarely watch the taped trials when you have no choice but to watch the THs.

I think this move was the only way they could get rid of Jamie.

The live daytime programming from truTV's headquarters on Manhattan's east side will cease in mid-November. At that point
Turner Broadcasting's HLN in Atlanta will provide programming for truTV's daytime hours. Primetime reality programming will continue. truTV was the 10th most watched cable network in Total Day last week, ahead of CNN and MSNBC. In primetime, truTV was ranked #19, also ahead of CNN and MSNBC.

How embarrassing..higher ratings than CNN and MSNBC...

I love Mike Brooks but agree with the screeching-tone this morning.. I am hoping that they're all just anxious and nervous w/adrenaline pumping.. and it will smooth over soon. Brooks seemed to be talking very fast & seemed excitable.

I liked the new gal --- and like I have said, I adore Vinnie and I like Mike Brooks a lot too.. Maybe they just need to get into their "groove" -- and it will calm down.

I've always liked Vinnie. But I turned him OFF.

I looked in twice with the new fellow, Gary. He was a bit less strident, but I have lost the momentum I had with the other anchors. I really miss Jack Ford. REALLY, REALLY.

You can't have this enhanced emotionality with the horror of some of these trials. It just doesn't work. I hope the producers here read this, and consider, the humanity of the topics that are presented on In Sessions.

I am glad to see Vinnie back (since his departure was forced on him before), but I really miss Jack and Jamie. The new format may grow on me in time, but there were a lot of mistakes and repetitive points being made in the first couple of days! Jean tried to hold it together somewhat. The new anchor sometimes talked as if this is the first trial we have ever watched. I have been a longtime fan of the network (I date back to the Menendez trials when the network was just getting started). There have been so many changes, but this one has not started well!

ErinC1973
11-18-2009, 01:53 PM
I am totally disappointed in the new format. Vinnie seems to sensationalize this case. I noticed it when he did the background story. Everything is punched with drama. Monday was nothing but a comedy of errors: Vinnie and Ryan looking ahead when the side camera was rolling, not being able to cue up clips (and when Vinnie said "Do we HAVE it??!"), being cut off by music for a commercial break, interrupting guests and Jean Casares (both Vinnie and Ryan did this). And if Ryan says "Ok, you know what?" one more time I will scream. What was especially funny yesterday was when Ryan said "Ok, we're going to go to break, but, um, not right now. Right now we're going to go back into the courtroom." WTF?? And he says "ok, Jean, let's go to you first. Well, no, lets go to ____ first." Everyone looks uncomfortable in their chairs, the set is bad, and it's just weird that Vinnie comes on for an hour, then off for an hour, and back on again.

Mike Brooks and Midwin Charles have been doing nothing but auditioning. And everyone is yelling. Right now Vinnie is doing an interview, and the camera goes on the woman, who is shaking her head, saying, "I can't hear anything."

If they are the "hardest working legal team on TV", they need to raise their standards!
