The tribute to Michael on BET tonight was tastefully done, and I enjoyed it. I look forward to the rest of their celebration of Michael throughout the weekend.

Spike Lee-hosted party in NYC for Michael Jackson's birthday could draw crowd of 10,000-plus
NEW YORK (AP) — New York City officials want to find a larger place for Spike Lee to hold his celebration of Michael Jackson's birthday.
The filmmaker had planned to mark the late King of Pop's birthday with a block party-style bash in Brooklyn's Fort Greene park on Aug. 29, when Jackson would have turned 51.
But a spokeswoman for Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday that city officials and Lee are looking at other sites because crowd estimates have grown.
The event's original permit envisioned 2,000 people attending. But because of nationwide publicity, organizers now expect the crowd to exceed 10,000.
The city says Brooklyn's Prospect Park is a possible alternative.
Lee collaborated on Jackson's video for "They Don't Care About Us."

Beware of People Pushing MJ Tribute Shows
Posted Aug 29th 2009 3:00AM by TMZ Staff
Michael Jackson's former manager claims he's shopping "the only 'Official Tribute Shows' honoring Michael Jackson" -- too bad no one in MJ's family knows anything about it.
We obtained a letter sent out by Frank Dileo -- who describes himself as "the manager for Michael Jackson in life and in death" -- and his business partner Mark Lamicka, who are trying to get people on board for Jackson tribute shows in "Canada, China & United Arab Emirates" in 2010.
We spoke to multiple members of the Jackson family -- including Joe Jackson -- who said they had no idea Mark and Frank were doing this.
Now ... a little background: Lamicka was sued for fraud in 2007 by some concert promoters, after he shopped around a tour for the band KISS without permission. According to court docs, Lamicka failed to appear at the trial and a default judgment was entered for $300,000.
We called Lamicka for comment and he said "I don't think there's any truth to this whatsoever ... can I get back to you tomorrow?" We're still waiting.

As the fans all over the world celebrates Michael Jackson's 51st birthday today and his family members and many friends gather to remember, not only the greatest entertainer, but the kind and gentle man, who gave so much to children from all across the globe. Michael you showed the world... true love has no color barrier. I will never forget the messages you left behind of how love for all people is the most important thing on earth.
My heart is with Paris, Prince and Blanket today. Birthdays were a very special occasion in the Michael Jackson household. Maybe they will visit Forest Lawn and place little trinkets for him there.
Your memory will live on forever Michael and you can rest in peace soon. Your children will carry on your legacy and will never let the world forget you.
May your spirit soar higher than eagles dare to fly! :rose::rose::rose:

500 Brits Wish Michael Jackson a Happy Birthday
Posted Aug 29th 2009 11:04AM by TMZ Staff
A group of well-choreographed Michael Jackson fans -- about 500 to be exact -- gathered in Leicester, U.K. to wish Michael Jackson a happy 51st birthday by re-enacting his famous "Thriller" video.

I noticed a lot of KIDS participating in the re-enactment. Hard to believe there are people out there who don't/didn't know who MJ is/was.
I think this is awesome.

A World Without Michael Jackson Has A Lot Less Magic In It
Future generations will never know what they missed, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery
Michael Jackson spent approximately 45 percent of his life as a cherubic, preternaturally gifted, exquisitely Afro-ed kid from Gary, Indiana, and the remaining 55 percent of it as the most famous man on the planet. This probably explains everything about him: his eccentricities (real or imagined), his music, his triumphs and tribulations and, ultimately, his death. Michael Jackson was never a normal person; he never had a normal childhood (his father put him to work in the family business — the Jackson 5 — at the age of 5), and he segued from that directly into an exceedingly abnormal adulthood, one spent directly beneath the megawatt glare of the spotlight. He lived — and died — smothered by fame.

I don't think Happy Birthday is an appropriate thing to say here. You lost your life to a negligent doctor. I'm glad you got to experience fatherhood, and success. I know your privacy was taken away from you, but you have to take the good with the bad. You got build and to live in your dream home and it was perfect. You were blessed with a talent and you were able to share that talent with the world. You helped so many who had nothing. You were loved by so many and that will never change. So on this day I will honor all your accomplishments, and on this day I will remember the good and caring person you were. I will also remember the number one song of all time that you sang and danced to and created a video that changed history forever.

I think everyone expresses their feelings differently and if they want to say happy birthday that is appropriate. I hope he is happy and I hope he is at peace.
Of course no disrespect to legal. I always enjoy your posts.
Also Legal- I keep trying to listen to the songs you post but I can't. Do I need special software or something?
