The space shuttle flight scheduled for 8/24/09 in Florida, was cancelled due to lightning storms in the launch area.

Rescheduled for tonight 8/25/09, at 10:10 PM, PDT.

Odds for launch are put at 70%, pending weather conditions.

Seven astronauts and thousands of pounds of supplies are the cargo.

Among the cargo items is a new exercise treadmill that is named after Steven Colbert, popular Comedy Central host.

An Oakland Raiders pennant flag will also make the voyage.

Hey Steph...!! Yeah, trying to imagine.. Guess they do some sort of harness thing to hold them down to apply pressure to the treadmill.

Remember 2001...?? The space station was set to rotate in orbit, to create artificial gravity. Wonder why they don't do that now..??

ETA.... Steven Colbert wanted the new porta-potty delivered last flight to be named after him. NASA website got something like 200k votes out of a field of several nominated. He won. NASA chose someone else. The treadmill is consolation prize.

Cool.

You are so lucky to be able to see a launch live. I never have, that must be an awesome sight.
